I don't believe that any female songbird from the 1930's to the 1960's can sing the lyric: "to you alone I speak, this message to impart" as sweetly and as passionately as Vera Lynn does. She is a singular talent that I am in awe of.
I appreciate Her sooo much! she is so adorable, a true living icon of those terrible times ... and I am so surprised to listen her sing an English adaptation of a Charles Trenet song!
She didn't always photograph well but when she went into the movies they knew just to shoot here to maximize her beautiful features and, of course, she had a gorgeous figure and wore clothes sensationally. Her biggest asset, beside that spectacular voice and musicianship, was her fresh-as-a-daisy personality. Beyond that, she was always self-possessed, never goofy or silly, and that was an important part of her appeal.
The movie is " Rhythm Serenade" 1943 Columbia British, Vera Lynn's second movie. "We'll Meet Again" being the first (1942), "One exciting Night" (1944) being the 3rd. Thanks for your interest.
She makes me tear up all the time. I have the 22 song wartime songs we play in the car and I have a lump in my throat the whole time. Love it. They should blast her out of loudspeakers all over England so the Brits can remember who they once were and maybe get it back, Just sayin.6
My heart nearly fell out of my mouth when Dame Vera appeared in that dress and began to sing. Is it odd that I have fallen in love with a woman who has reached her century?
@@jeffers5ok God Bless You, Dame Vera. Listening to your Piece de Bataille almost daily!what a song to last forever.Thank you To your good health and Happy Days kind regards. Anonymous

Can someone tell me what film this is from? Ive been researching this song for an elderly friend who lost his wife fifteen years ago. He wrote down the chorus and told me his wife used to sing it to him. Any help with this will be gratefully received, thanks in advance.
I can really only guess, She seems to be fairly tall and slender< Maybe 5"7 , 105 pounds, 21 inch waist , That"s just a guess, She was 25 years old at the time of this movie and certainly at the height of her vocal powers.
Do you happen to have Vera Lynn's medley of Shine on Harvest Moon/Back in Your Own Backyard/For Me And My Gal. If you do could you possibly put it on You Tube.
I am impressed by the calm and peace she conveys as she sings, she seems to live in eternity.
She's Beautiful but also classy!!💝
True lady who had a purpose when she was singing ♥️❌💕

Crystal clear diction and no phony American accent.
A beautiful voice, and, from all I've heard, a personality to match.
She is 101 years old
A beautiful lady I’ll bet she could sing as she used to sing
Beats anything you hear today
102 years man, this woman is very very good sing..

She looks so modern, so metropolitan, as if she'd just slip into the 21st century perfectly.
She's too good for this century.
I love to sing is such a great song, I wish I heard it more in movies, and animations :(
This is simply wonderful stuff. I wish you would download the whole film. Thank you for posting this.

I love to sing when skies are grey,
For when I do they roll away
I'm like a bird up in a tree,
I'm just as hap-hap-happy as can be
I love to sing a happy song
I love to sing if things go wrong
And when I do I'm never blue
Oh how I love I love to sing
I walk on air, don't have a care
And just in case you're wondering why
I'm telling you just what I do,
The simple thing that gets me by
I love to sing when skies are grey,
for when i do they roll away
I'm like a bird up in a tree
I'm just as hap-hap-happy as can be
I love to sing a happy song
I love sing if things go wrong
And when I do I'm never blue
Oh how I love I love to sing
Come on everybody:
I love to sing when skies are grey,
for when i do they roll away
I'm like a bird up in a tree
I'm just as hap-hap-happy as can be
I love to sing a happy song
I love sing if things go wrong
And when I do I'm never blue
Oh how I love I love to sing
Love; hope you are fortunate enough to experience it at least once in your life.
Very nice!
She was worth a dozen regiments to the overall victory and that incredible British perseverance.
Yes we are British
TY for the upload, sublime! :-)
Still watching
"I Love To Sing", now my favourite song 4:03
Is it still your favourite song?
😍
I really like Vera Lynn but "Oh God" how good the boy plays that accordion!
I always get Vera Lynn and Vera Ellen mixed up. I know they are very different, but I have to stop and think about it. Love them both.
She is still here to keep up World Morale.
I have some of her LP's

Боже, храни Королеву! ...
Heyley Westenra has to make her bio pic
She's fabulous!
Wonder what movie this is. After all that fanfare she's all alone.😔
If you read Vera Lynn's Wikipedia, you woukd be able to find out. Or simply which movies did Vera Lynn play in?
If I was not clear it is Rymth Serenade.
Dame Vera was an angel 😇 no matter what name she sang under l actually had the privilege of corresponding with her 4:10 😊
Little Jimmy Clitheroe was playing the accordeon.
I don't find anymore boys today playing that instrument
i play it
what's the name of acordeon melody ?
She is the pioneer of the british invasion. . .for me
If she is the Last singer I hear, I would be of with that that.
correction be O.k.
does anyone know how tall was she?

+dittybop12 how about non-retarded measuerments?
5' 7" is right - www.imdb.com/name/nm0528822/bio
