I never fail to tear-up at this. Jane had a wonderful voice and her concerts must have been a balm to the souls of all those thousands of young men who were so homesick. Bless her forever. DA
Miss Froman 's voice and Susan's beauty and talent, a great combination in a movie showing the hardships of the greatest generation in American history.
I love this movie, saw it as a teenager, she is my favorite movie star, she should of got the Academy award for sure, this movie is much better than I want to live, also her performance in I'll cry tomorrow was unbelievable,a outstanding performance.
With great respect, appreciation and admiration for Susan Hayward's magnificent performance in this, my all-time favorite film, I am moved -even more deeply- by the Froman voice and the Froman story. Let's keep their memories alive!
Well I am mexican but I really love all this picture. I specially cried in "Indiana" but also cried in others pieces of this song.. I saw this movie many many times!!!
Jane Forman's beautiful voice, and boy or boy what a performance by Susan Hayward, a beautiful very talented actress of old Hollywood . She was so underrated. I have not seen a movie of hers that I didn't like . Susan was a huge talent and one of the best dramatic actresses Hollywood ever had . I have seen this movie clip many times and it never ceases to to inspire me and bring a tear to my eye . Thank you for the hundredth time .
Miss Hayward was a great combination of sexy allure and great acting ability. A real Movie Star! Susan Hayward was nominated for this film and justly so. In all the great Susan received 5 nominations from her peers and won for her tour de force in I Want To Live where to my recollection she remains the only star to ever receive a curtain call after her acceptance speech; she was called back on stage to thunderous applause. RIP to a great actress, a great beauty, a great star.
Mom enjoyed movies such as With A Song In My Heart 1952, Just For You 1952, Cover Girl 1944, Singing In The Rain 1952, Sayonara 1957, Singing In The Rain 1952, Wonder Man 1945, White Christmas 1954, The Kid From Brooklyn 1946, Rebel Without A Cause, 1955, Giant 1956. In her final days watching these movies brought her great comfort.😖😢😁
This is tremendous; thank you for posting it. Every American should watch this and try to remember and reclaim what we've lost since our "Greatest Generation".
No one had more recognizable arm gestures when she played a singer than the lovely Susan Hayward did. I love how much she throws her body into lipsyncing the songs.
God bless you for this posting. A movie I will never forget. This part of the movie especially with all the wounded soldiers and I think of all our service men/women fighting for our country in the middle east right now. This is one of Hollywood's best movies, but I feel it is underrated, unfortunately. Thanks again.
I always come to listen and watch this every July 4th - I love patriotic marches also, but this music sung to soldiers reminding them of the home they are defending is every bit as patriotic as a fighting march. I love the actors who play the soldiers - they make me feel like they were authentic.
What a find interesting after seeing films of Jane on TV how well Susan Hayward gets how Jane held her head etc.when she sang. Susan did a marvelous job of capturing Jane's way of physically singing. She must have studied Jane! I love this movie! It bent my head as a teen; that voice of Jane's!
Susan Hayward made a fantastic job her lipsynching is perfect if you don't know she was dubbed by jane Froman you could think she was singing for good. and she is extremely beautiful in that picture one of the best actress ever !!! JMB
I had no idea of who Jane Froman was until I saw Susan in "I'll Cry Tomorrow," and then "With a Song in my Heart. She must have been pretty popular for Hollywood to devote two films on her life.
This brought back some memories for me. I used to watch this movie on tv with my mother who was a susan hayward fan. Nobody does patriotism like the yanks....and that's coming from a proud aussie!
Magnificent singing, especially Richard Allan, the tenor, dancer. Such a beautiful voice. So sad he never got the accolades he deserved. Also Jane Froman has a lovely voice and this was so beautifully done.
I like this, I recall I was too Young to see the film and my Father who saw it told me about it and he then bought the record I Heard a lot of times in my childhood. She really had a great voice. So full, so nice and capable of giving a special meaning to every song she sang.
Hi Stephen, thanks so much for bringings these marvels from the past. Unforgettable¡¡¡¡¡¡ When this film was exhibited in my city Santiago Chile, I saw at the theatre 75 times, Now I have in DVD it's been more than 100. In those days in my youth I even wrote the the dialogs by heart in an album with clippings from movies magazines. Hugs Regina

Susan Hayward, Veronica Lake, Marion Davies, Barbara Stanwyck, Mary Tyler Moore, Lena Horne, Rita Hayworth, Priscilla Presley... there must have been something in the water in Brooklyn NY.
@@hudsony777 Yes, and many more. I just listed the ones I thought were most beautiful (no offense meant to Babs and Suzanne) and theorized there was something magical in the water. A lot of male stars came from there, too... ones you wouldn't expect, like Mickey Rooney and Chuck Connors.
@@akrenwinkle Chuck Connors, that's funny. Knew about Rooney. Also, Mae West and though he was only raised there, John Forsythe (born Jacob Lincoln Freund).
Lol what an awful take. This video is from the same year that Christine Jorgensen became the first American man to undergo sex reassignment surgery. This was the year that courts were arguing about black segregation in schools and citizenship for black people. If you thought people weren't fighting for their rights just as much then as they are now, you haven't paid much attention to history.
Susan Hayward was phenomenal energy, capturing Jane Froman. Ironically, there is not one single brown or black face among the troops. That was America then.
When I was a child I believed that the USA natinality who sang of América were singing of the América that we had been taught in school; with its discovery by Christopher Columbus in 1492 and the hymn to the American Republics that we were taugth and that we sang on october 12 on the anniversary of the discovery of our continent every year. When I was already an enginneer and travelled to Paris for a post-graduate degree, I learned that the USA natinality had even stolen the name of our American continent. That continent so named more than a century before the Anglo- Saxons arrived further north than Florida, beyond the America so named by Martin Waldseemüller in 1507
One dynamite singer. The plane crash was horrific but she kept on. Great entertainer. Susan Hayward does a marvelous job.

Hayward's acting (and beauty) coupled with Froman's singing. What could be better?
I agree about Hayward's beauty, but Froman's voice is a put-off. She was an uplift to the troops simply because she was there at that time.
