@@XKS99 No, definitely not. EV's are great for plain transportation, you get a quiet and smooth ride. But if you want to go for a cruise in the weekends, possibly toss the damn thing around in the corners and anger a few people by revving unnecessary (don't over-do it), ICE sports cars are more enjoyable. An EV can't match the sound and feel of a throbbing V8. I don't hate EV's, but I sure will miss ICE.
@@PK-bn2pg That story was based on 2018 and included cars like the BWM i3 and Golf-E. Even then 80% stayed. For Tesla and Chevy the number was well over 90%. I expect that the new generation of EVs from Ford, GM, VW, BMW, M-B, Hyundai, Kia etc. that benchmark Tesla will be closer to that number.

Uhh... there is a Playgirl... the 'Play" is the equivalent of Mustang. This is not advertised as a Mustang GT or Ecoboost or GT500. It's a Mustang Mach-E.
I think SG is a little heavy on the fear mongering about the imminent demise of gas cars. Right now it seems like Tesla has the proper infrastructure for charging... yeah they do for the paltry amount of cars they’ve sold so far. Right now about 2% of cars purchased are electric in North America. If that gets to 50% in the next decade (which is won’t come close to) the infrastructure in place would be woefully inadequate and the electrical grid dangerously overloaded where we would have weekly brownouts during heat waves when AC units are going full blast. Yes they can build many many more charging stations in the coming decade but who’s paying for that? It’s insanely expensive to build public ones and very expensive to install a 240v outlet in your own garage. And it still doesn’t solve the issue for people who live in condos and apartment bulidings. And where does over 60% of electricity come from? Yep fossil fuels, not so green now is it? There is still a great amount of hesitancy about purchasing EVs especially when people factor all the logistical problems with owning one that aren’t gonna be solved anytime soon. Gas powered cars aren’t going anywhere for quite awhile. EVs have 2% of the market now. They’ll be ecstatic if it’s 10% by 2030. You’ll have gas option well into 2040s. This is a political thing and like with all hot button issues, little thought is given to the implementation and logistics of implementing such policies because they want to look virtuous on TV.
I'll never support EVs because I can already see what it's going to lead into. Fully autonomous vehicles and self driving will be outlawed. I say fuuuuck that.
@@gregruppert2555 I have an education in electrical engineering. I'm against the idea of battery powered cars simply because the battery materials are more finite than oil, and less than 1% of carbon emissions are from consumer vehicles. It's around a tenth of a percent for vehicles 2015 and up. Look up Pete Buttigeig and his defense for electric cars, you'll see for yourself.
Shhh...the reality is EVs should cost less than ICE. They pile them full of stupid gadgets to try and add value, but the real drive of manufacturers to EVs is the massive R&D savings, because the platforms are simple, the motors are already fully efficient, and any future gains are 100% on battery technology, which is not the auto company.

I really notice the bouncy ride on anything but the smoothest roads, the suspension needs improving. Many EV makers have been using artificial sounds like this, and honestly I'm a fan of it. EVs are essentially silent, and the sounds at least give a bit of audio-feedback.
@@CrazyWeeMonkey but thats also not really true, like evs could have tons of motor/gearbox noise? but getting it to levels that are clearly audible would mean that muffling it for when the customwr wants the car to be quiet is going to be a fairly difficult task. Haha, good point! I sure hope they perform serious non-regression testing on their software before releasing OTA updates.
As an EV user, I’d always be a bit stressed out before these happen. A frozen/buggy smartphone is one thing. But a frozen/broken EV software for the powertrain? Yikes!
And I’m not singling out Ford. Tesla, VW, etc. are all facing the same issues here.

This is supposed to be a soccer mom car and even my mom wasn't happy that they used the Mustang name on this thing.
Don’t worry, you’ll see the husbands of the soccer moms driving these too after she’s convinced him that they don’t need that small sports car. Then he’ll go around justifying his mommy mobile purchase. Or else, divorce.
I'm not saying that Ford shouldn't innovate, I still find myself firmly believing they should have called it the "Explorer Mach E" or something of that nature instead of sullying the Mustang.
I already see these on the highway. They’ll sell well. Tbh, it seems more cool than the 4 cylinder “mustang”.

The gas won’t help because they can’t get the gas cars to go as quick as electric. In just 4 years, Porsche already has a Taycan electric car that’s as quick as the 911. Imagine in another 4 years...
If you try EV you never want to go back. It's just better than gas.
@@XKS99 Is that why 20% of electric owners go back to ICE
@@XKS99 No, definitely
not. EV's are great for plain transportation, you get a quiet and smooth ride. But if you want to go for a cruise in the weekends, possibly
toss the damn thing around in the corners and anger a few people by revving unnecessary (don't over-do it), ICE sports cars are more enjoyable.

Dude. You nailed it.
Yep, 100%
Uhh... there is a Playgirl... the 'Play" is the equivalent of Mustang.
This is not advertised as a Mustang GT or Ecoboost or GT500. It's a Mustang Mach-E.
mustang is the only car left in the lineup it has to be replaced
It’s about 1200 dollars for the charger and wiring. You’ll save that in gas fairly quickly if your electricity is cheap.
At 56,000 dollars EV is not in my future. The real key to EV acceptance is getting the prices down.
I'd be willing to go EV in the distant future if they ditch the huge screens and bring back analog gauges.
I got bad news for you, they are going to find excuses to drive up the price even further.
"You'll own nothing and you'll be happy" amirite?
@@12ealDealOfficial you can't buy any new car without a stupid huge screen.
I'll never support EVs. I can already see it becoming autonomous and self driving will be outlawed. Fuuuuck that.
If it's a Mustang, the paint will start blistering within the first 1-2 years just like my 2016 Mustang! That's the FORD promise and guarantee!
I had a 2013 Mustang GT. 2 years in the rear bumper had a yellow tint to it that was unmistakable. Dealer said they couldn't see it. It was a white car with a yellow plastic bumper. And then the pain on the aluminum hood started to bubble. Complete trash.

The brake and suspension issues as mentioned are very disappointing for a car that's 50k+. Hope you can do another review in the near future of the 2023 model year and see if they fixed these issues. Also thanks for pointing out that carplay/interface issues are disastrous.
Calling the main control panel a "Head unit" cracked me up. Reminded me of the 90's, systems and my old JL Audio W6's 😉

I’ve bought one of these for my 80 mile round trip commute and been driving it for about three months. Mine is a Select AWD standard range. What he says about the suspension is very true. I really notice the bouncy ride on anything but the smoothest roads, the suspension needs improving. I also think that the tires are on the skinny side and maybe wider tires along with improved suspension would give it a better feel. I’ve seen that KW has aftermarket coil overs and steeda has front and rear sway bar. Perhaps these might help, IDK.

is there no money in R&D for efficiency and range for EVs?
why are they still making these 200 mile range tech boxes that have nothing to them -- apart from that well known electric torque curve.
I just got this car and I don’t understand why everyone is so salty about it? It’s actually a really great car. I wanted an EV that was built well, and I got a premium RWD w/ extended range for 40K. It’s a great ride and I enjoy it.
everything wrong with the automotive industry in one car is impressive.
The best car reviewer on UA-cam, hands down.
What else would you expect out of that tablet? Remember Fords response to customers complaining about Sync? “Dealers need to train customers to use it better.” Ford doesn’t understand infotainment and likely never will at this pace...
First time you floored it i was like "Noooo... nooooooo... don't tell me they pumped up fake crap V8 noise mixed with Starcraft sound effects!!!"
And ohh yes they did.
IMO, if you need to pump fake noise in your product, it's because it lacks feeling everywhere else.
So they just slap a bit of sound deadening around the motor and mount it with rubber bushings and make a fake sound, because thats the easier and cheaper option.

How sad it is that we now remember the 'good' old times of New Beetle and BMW Mini. Saner times.
Then again, it is only natural for a crumbling world empire to go full-on bonkers. And they're gonna try to convince everybody to join them.
I am sad that Ford copied so many things from Tesla, because I definitely do not like the huge touch screen and no physical gauge speedo.

@@kickyadick Yup! My two go-to as well: SG and Throttle House. Throttle House has been a tad quiet lately though. :( I do also like Sofyan on Redline for the more "regular customer" reviews. He does have some annoying parts, but overall like him too.
@@richardnavratil9661 Exactly. I get that the more subs they have and such the more revenue they have for insurance (like on the exotics), the more they have to raise their kids, the more trust and accountability they'll have from brands, etc.
But I really wish they would dial it back. Every time I see a video title, I just think of them on their way to get coffee or whatever brainstorming like a marketing team coming up with buzzwords. I miss how they used to be.
Their production is at least up to scratch, their music choice is not bad (in some cases great) and they do things uniquely. Even if you hate Yuri's taste in cars, for example, at least he doesn't try to justify or apologize in any way. The videos aren't cookie cutter, but they're going too far.
(Besides, how many reviewers have you seen actually do a box test across their videos?)

Yes, but at least when you sit in the Mach-E the interior feels like an actual car, vs. sitting in a Tesla which is a paradigm shift.

Yeah but it costs more, uses a name that brings shame to the real mustang and lacks in performance compared to other EV's such as Telsa
