i mean this as a compliment: i feel like songs like this are what would happen if that clip from brooklyn 99 with the dude playing acoustic guitar and screaming was an actual music genre
They're closely related, and I see it as a difference in intensity, so I'd say that the Brooklyn 99 example is more akin to Folk Punk than this song is. But y''know, genres are kinda open to interpretation like that.
"it's sad to know there's no honest way out" Considering this song is seemingly about depression... I think the not so honest way out is suicide. Well, that hits close to home.
Yeah Sean, the lyricist and main vocalist of the band worked at a suicide hotline place for teens (idk they're called) for 8 years and experienced the sorrows and beauty of life

Was driving all of my friends around town, and my best friend sitting next to me and I both started singing this song at full volume when it came on- and my two friends sitting in the back looked so concerned at the “kill all my best friends” lyric I should not be tasked with driving anymore
My take is that the title refers to using brave in the role of a noun rather than making a comparison between them. “Brave” is used in the role of a name, meaning that something such as the singer is supposed to be a personification of bravery. I think it’s supposed to be sarcastic since the song is about not having bravery.
I love his voice holy crap. I love the way it's almost, cracked? If that makes sense? With a lit of voices it doesn't work but with his it's just pure beauty!

I'm not a big fan of his voice, but you know what, if it makes people happy I have no right to shit on his songs.
Old comment but yeah. Its so natural sounding! Works out so well
This is what I love about folk punk, his voice really matches the song. They're both so departe.
sounds like a 14 year old during puberty
Just listened to two others songs by this guy. I'ma try to find a song that doesn't mention murder within the first ten seconds.

Had to look that one up, but yeah- that basically is anti-folk for you.
Mr. Jak this genre is called anti-folk? I thought it was called folk punk...
They're closely related, and I see it as a difference in intensity, so I'd say that the Brooklyn 99 example is more akin to Folk Punk than this song is.
But y''know, genres are kinda open to interpretation like that.
*and its sad to know there's* LITTERALLY NOBODY IN MY FRIEND GROUP IRL THAT KNOWS THIS SONG.
I LOVE THIS SONG!!
I mean, AJJ is a pretty obscure band haha

Mr. Jak the "I'm as timid as a mouse" sometimes people think it's "I'm estimate as a mouse" for some reason

Well, he is using it as a noun, hence the name of the song.
My friends: “I don’t like AJJ”
Me: “I could go off the deep end... I could kill all my best friends...”
(Luckily this hasn’t happened)
WAIT THE LINE IS "I'M AS TIMID AS A MOUSE"???
I THOUGHT HE SAID "I'M ABSTINENT AS A MOUSE"
Hah- can almost hear that, but being familiar with the phrase makes it so it's hard to not hear it. lol
I thought it was "violent trends" lmfao
Anybody have there own take on what Brave as a Noun means?
My take is that the title refers to using brave in the role of a noun rather than making a comparison between them. “Brave” is used in the role of a name, meaning that something such as the singer is supposed to be a personification of bravery. I think it’s supposed to be sarcastic since the song is about not having bravery.
First persons answer is better but I think its about having the courage to tell people your real name when you come out as trans
The ending always confuses me its like: did my app just skip the rest of the song or no?
Yeah- made to just run right into the next, though not as smoothly as they could have done.
