  • Has the drill bit ever broken? It has happened to many of us. Metal drill bits are easy to repair, but wood drill bits are not so easy to repair.
I thought I could do this and tried breaking an old drill bit and rebuilding it. You can watch it in this video. First I break the wood drill bit and then fix it.
First, I shape the wood drill bit after roughly forming it. After the shaping is completed, I move on to the sharpening step. After the processes are completed, I am experimenting on various woods. I've been experimenting with both a hand drill and a column drill. I saw that it was successful in my tests.
If you are a do-it-yourselfer like me, you can fix your own drill bits and save your money.

I hoped you would like this video. However, it has not received much attention yet. I've never seen a video of wood drill bits being repaired. That's why I made this video.
    Didn't you like it?

You Sir, makes some astonishing builds.
    Well done !
But my astonishment at you publicly SIDE LOADING A GRINDER WHEEL is the most astonishing thing ever.
Please Sir, read up on horrible consequences that can result from this act that would have you thrown out of any Aware metal or Wood shop.
The Safety Adisory is printed in almost every language.
Please read it an drop this terrible example of a video.
Why am I all exited about this ?
Because my co worker barely survived the high speed ride in a pickup truck to the hospital just down the road from one of our shops.
It looked like he lost about a quart of blood around his finger he had stuck inside his carotid artery when he was sideloading the grind wheel and it exploded ito shrapnel.
    It HAPPENS.
    OFTEN.
PLEASE Sir, don’t let this happen to one of your viewers.

Repairing cost is more than a new one. These are all time passing videos.

Can you show another one with a wood drill bit video?

Cost is not always the deciding factor. There's a pleasure in doing things yourself. Why throw the drill bit away when you can fix it like this good man has shown us? If you have money to burn .. well, that's something else. The man also shared great tips and techniques from his vast experience. We should be grateful and positive rather than negative.

@@adelkeryakos2641: The money burned is lesser and an asset .where as you are making it with higher task and cost.

Many of us watching are just DIY enthusiasts and are not burning bits on a daily basis.
This is a nice video to hopefully help some of us to give life to an ol' trusty drill bit.
Where I live the cost of fuel alone to go buy a drill bit is much higher than what it costs to restore it as shown.
