I recently got one. A different variety than this. I couldn't leave it at the store. It is blooming! I already want more, lol, a larger one like yours has just been added to my wish list.
I've seen this plant first time when my boyfriend got one for me. He bought it in the supermarket and we found no name on it. :D I googled for hours "plant that looks like a combination of Sanseviera and Aloe vera" and finally I found it: Gasteria Little Warty. :D I hope my baby will doing good as yours. Thanks for tipps in your video :)
Great video. For some reason, I have figured out how to make calatheas happy and gave up on succulents after getting discouraged. I found a gasteria that was $5 so i figured I'd give it a try. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge!
You are so welcome! That's awesome, I adore calatheas!! And a lot of people find them tricky so you should be proud. I'm glad you picked up a Gasteria. I think you will love these easy plants. 💚🌿
Ok so my coastal oxtongue flowered!! And it had a huge line of orange and green flowers. But now the flowers are falling off and some sort of seed pod or fruit seems to be growing out from where the flowers were. Any idea what this is, what I do with it, and also what I do with the huge flower stem that came from the plant once this process has finished?? Appreciate any help haha
I have one, quite by accident, I thought it was something else. However a month or so after I got it, I saw this long stick-like thing shooting out from the center and to my surprise, flowers appeared on it. Now there is a second one which also just flowered. My question is what do I do about the first flower shoot, it's brown and the flowers are gone. Do I cut it out or will it just die and fall off?
Please could you help me, I have a long stem going from my Gasteria, what should do? When do I know when my little one needs replanting? I'm a beginner. Thank you. Valerie.
I had mine in a bad pot (had a lip and a leaf got stuck and it bent and broke a leaf. I repotted it. Do you think the leaf will recover? I do have another little warty coming, but this is still small and I’d like to save it to get some pups. It’s still really small.
I've just watched your channel, about care for gasteria after just bringing one home in a 4 inch pot with several leaves. Should I be concerned that the 2 lower leaves are resting on the soil? I've been careful with other succulents to avoid that. Will appreciate it if you tell me whether I need to push the soil away from the leaves.
Hi Pam. I have had Gasteria leaves resting in the soil before and it wasn't an issue. If you can easily move the soil, I say go for it, just be safe right. But I really don't think it's going to be an issue.
So.. i know nothing about plants but my stepdad got me a succulent aand i think its one of these? I have been trying to look for what type of plant i have but all the pictures very similar to mine still look very different. I think mine is a Gasteria but the leaves are growing SO tall and skinny, while the outer ones are more dry looking and short/fat?? I would send a pic if i could! 😅
I haven't personally done that, but I think it could be possible. I think for it to be successful you would need to keep the pup slightly above the water so that new roots would grow a little before entering the water. It would be cool to try!

Hey, if its okay when do you have to repot the plant?

Hi, yes feel free to send me a pic on Instagram mind_the_leaves and I can take a look at it. 🙂
How many years did it take for your gasteria to flower for the first time?
I think I had it for about two years before it flowered. I also divided it last year and it didn't flower this year.
I have had mine 3 years. Never flowered.
I've killed every one I've ever owned 🤣
It happens! I have killed plenty of "easy care" plants in my time! 😂💚😂
Can you propagate pups in water?
I haven't personally done that, but I think it could be possible. I think for it to be successful you would need to keep the pup slightly above the water so that new roots would grow a little before entering the water. It would be cool to try!
why have i never heard of this plant before??
Haha I know, but they are great if you ever find one! 💚💚💚
