Julien Baker is awesome, I love watching her talk. She is so articulate and cautious with her words it's fun to watch her mind work. And then she's like "we're just buds making music." Awesome.
Agreed. I adore her intellect and eloquence. Love listening too her thoughts.
I LOVED the Freudian slip moment when she said "an awarness of the kind of dynamic you're *destructing*" instead of *constructing*. It makes sense though, Cheryl was talking about their individuality vs the collaborative work and said they don't sound like their solo work selves in this record, and Julian started talking about the construction of that collaboration but for that to happen somehow they needed to lo 'destruct' their solo dynamic!

Absolutely under-rated. I think if not for her, boygenius wouldn't be nearly as soulful and emotional. Like all of them are super talented, Lucy just adds a ton of depth to their sound.

About every 8 hours I start shaking, sweating and need to listen to Me and My Dog.
Yeah it was the first song I heard when it played on my spotify radio one time and now I'm a big fan of all of them. I'm especially attached to Phoebe though and I think part of that was hearing her voice first and it just blew me away.
They even say NO with beautiful harmony 14:49
I love the way Julien talks, her language is so intentional and I could listen the her talk forever.

Completely agree about Cheryl. She's just so genuinely happy to have everyone there. It's such a nice change of pace from every wacky DJ trying to be clever and edgy. (KEXP isn't guilty of this no matter who's hosting, just talking about your average everyday radio appearance.)

Lucy’s verse in Ketchum, ID is one of the most melodically and lyrically beautiful things I’ve heard in music up to this point in my life. So happy to have heard it as such high quality live in this video!

I love Julien's little grin at the beginning of Cowboy Take Me Away, like "yes this is the song you think it is" .
I can't normally watch live performances. But Julien is so cathartic it's beautiful. There's these moments after Me & My Dog when she just sort of looks at the piano, then up at Phoebe and Lucy, and it's like she's winded. This good kind of winded you see marathon runners get after a race. It's amazing stuff and I love that these moments are captured.

I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say these women are the future of music today. Absolutely incredible music.
Every genre of music has a new rising wave of good music resurfacing from the depths of modern crap. These guys, Jason Isbell, Brandi Carlisle for folk/Americana, Greta Van Fleet and the Struts for rock and roll, Midland for pure country, Alabama Shakes for southern rock.

I've loved both Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker from the start. Having them together in a group just makes my heart glad. Didn't know Lucy before boygenius, but I'm glad I know her now.
Lucy dacus is my favorite of all of their solo stuff!

Ascetic I think Lucy is the greatest of them. Modern incredibly intelligent lyrics, and the music is super. She is also the best singer of them, she dont let her voice leak. (Please dont kill me)

Julien Baker had a very intimate performance in Pittsburgh (under 50 seats) at our station. We are so lucky to experience her up close and personal like that!

Julien is the most talented singer/songwriter of her generation, and so modest.

In Swedish, we say that something is a conditioner for the soul when it's soothing and just leaves you feeling calm, peaceful and just good overall... this was that. Beautiful set and a great mix of voices

this is all 3 of them at their absolute best. julien's voice is so beautiful and grounding. watching 4 years later in anticipation for their debut album release today!
Now their album is getting nominated for six grammys. They've come so far.
Ketchum ID is maybe one of the most beautiful songs written .. brings tears to my eyes every time.
I don't think I've ever heard a group with every member being so articulate and intelligent. Love listening to them just talk about their art!
The placement of commercials is criminal.
This is one of KEXP's best, right up there with london Grammar -- just unreal how fantastic the vocals are, the violinist is insane, sheryl is so good in her natural interview style--- what a gem to see this again!!!!!!!! just Killer!!!!!!!
KEXP has had countless giants of music perform in their studios. This is possibly the best of the hundreds I've watched. 3 young legends of the game already reaching the highest heights.
Julien, Phoebe and Lucy remind me of a time when, as a creative person, I worked on a project with a team of other creative people and discovered how truly remarkable (and very uncommon) it is to complete / experience a solution that is better because each member came together and fully trusted one another.
The experience that Phoebe speaks of when she walks outta the room is so commonly universal….and destructive and unnecessary.

First I discovered Julien Baker, and thought I’d never find anything more amazing.. Boygenius proved me wrong. I’m just blown away by this beautiful, unique and talented group of artists. Absolute power house of musical ability, I’m so grateful to have found this band!

Every time that I click on something related to Boygenius I feel happy about it. Not for the blind click, but for the feeling that come after. These 3 girls emanates harmony and joy. Glad to be alive and witness it.

At the end of the last song ("Ketchum, ID") I started clapping. Then I remembered I was watching and listening on UA-cam by myself with headphones.
They are all three beautiful artists individually. Together, it is pure magic! I'm so glad they chose to form this group, and hope it lasts
