it's wild, on IG/TikTok a lot of the comments are critical of Zane for talking too much, when the entire reason so many artists love talking to him and are willing to be so much more open and vulnerable than usual is because they appreciate the casual, conversational dynamic of his interviews vs the series of dumb questions they get from most other hosts

I love how Zane can always connect to his guests, it doesn't feel like they are guests at all, more like friends. And everybody wants to be friends with Boygenuis
the most enjoyable interviews to listen/watch!
I feel the same way, but watch his recent Depeche Mode interview. It’s the first time in awhile that I’ve seen him look slightly… intimidated. But in perfect Zane fashion, he still gave a great interview.
He's a gifted interviewer
Great to see them all together. Wish Zane would let them speak a bit more though, it's probably enthusiasm but there's three extraordinary minds in the room that deserve a bit more space.

I fell in love to those lyrics a decade ago. They told me to put my arm around her waist when they played it live. Then it was 4 and a half years later. The happiness was often, the firsts were many, the ending was sad. I’m still glad it happened.

Anyone else geek out when Julien mentioned the Christian Metalcore scene? Never been religious myself or anything but that genre and scene was such an important part of my music beginnings and I love that I share that with her.
As Hank Hill said, “Can't you see you're not making Christianity better, you're just making rock n' roll worse.”
I love that underoath was a pivotal concert for her, because my first concert was seeing them live. ♥️ August Burns Red still puts on a helluva show.

I feel like Zane's ideal interview would be listening back to his own clips from past interviews and talking about what he meant, what he was thinking when he said it, and why he might have said that based on past experiences. That said, I like him haha. But I wish this interview was more focused on the songs rather than their relationships or their experience of being boygenius.
i think because their still pretty new, i guess people are just trying to figure out what base their music is lying on and how they got to come together to make the music that they did before truly understanding how the songs were made. but i get the desire to know the stories behind the songs too.
