The writing is great in this show but the cast is like they were literally born for this show and their roles! I'm in the process of watching the show from beginning to end for the 4th time! Greatest show of all time
AnToNcHaMp96 I think it's better than friends too! They tackled different kinds of relationship, family set ups and you can see the growth of every character. i liked friends but after Chandler and Monica got married, you dont see the character grow. monica is still a control freak, ross is still this nerdy guy, rachel got really really whiney and a bitch, joey's still stupid and phoebe became cranky. i love friends dont get me wrong but himym is better when it comes to writing. also every character in himym got a good closure maybe except for the last episode but you can still see how everyone grew.
Well for one that video was filmed at the end of season 1. And furthermore they did film a second ending where it ends with Ted and Tracy on the Farhampton train station.
Also, if you think about it, the theme is possibly the best short-version theme in sitcom history. Look at the reactions from the cast and director. Some of them seem to enjoy, they all sure remember or wish they could remember it, and then there is almost an unwillingness to admit it's catchy. Most good songs fall under that category. A little goofy/fun mixed with the sweet piano bit at the end. It's the show in song form.
(9:29) Craig Thomas: We get a lot of angry comments from people that Ted and Robin can't end up together. But that's just not the story we set out to tell. Me: Then what the fuck was that finale about?
Thirdy Saruca he is saying that they planned to end up together, read it properly it's a double negative, though I'm also irritated by the ending, it was awful
"When you write a character of this beautiful, confident woman that's just...awesome!" Robin IS awesome, isn't she? And thats why her and Mr. Awesome himself were always destined for eachother.
The first time I watched HIMYM, on TV, 2 and a half years ago, I was confused on what it was about, but I was on Netflix one day and decided to give it a try. Now I watch it EVERYDAY and I never get tired of it. I've seen many incredible shows but this has to be my all time favorite. I may be only 14 years old, but this show makes me laugh, smile, and cry. It makes me sad that it's ending, but like Barney Stinson had said before, " When I'm sad, I stop being sad, and be awesome instead." :)
You do know that they set up for Ted and Robin to end up together, right? They used a double negative. Fans got angry because Ted and Robin could not end up together. But they never planned for that happening. They never set up Ted and Robin not ending up together. Easier to read version would be. They set up Ted and Robin ending up together.
I think the ending was awesome. Robin and Ted were meant to be together from the beginning. I really liked Robin and Barney together but it just didn't work out. That's life. If Tracy didn't die, her and Ted would stay together. But she did, so Robin and Ted got together. That's reality.
+Parkyjb oO Exactly! I totally agree. Also Ted is telling the story, and you can feel that he loves Robin more than the other girls. Even when he talks about Stella you can tell that it's not the one. So it was clear that he was gonna end up with robin.
ted never loved anyone more than robin...maybe he sounded like his love fr Tracy is all heavenly and destiny and stuff..but he is not speaking to us..he is speaking to tracy's kids frgodssake...i mean why is he telling this long story?..why did he start the story on the exact night he met robin...the story was always about ted n robin..rewatch the whole show..you'll see my point...
my favorite thing about this is how much these guys love pixies (this show is the reason i got into that band, theyre the actual best, kim deal is gorgeous) that the song at the beginning is a cover of where is my mind hell yes
09:32 Angry comments about Ted and Robin ending up together... But that was just not the story we ever set out to tell... SAY WHOOOAT?? Filthy liars....
+Eleni Amprazi Actually they said they did know how the story is going to end, they said it in this video. Also, they had to record the parts of Ted's kids for the finale around this time, they actually knew how it was going to end all along.
as for someone who owns all (i think) seasons of how i met your mother, it is a amazing dvd show to binge on when you are traveling (like me, a 7 hour car ride can be passed with seasons 1&2 with extras) and ill have time for some other small stuff
+Sebastián Mackay SPOILER ALERT (Kind of... not really... i'm not going to tell you where it came from but you never know) There's a deleted scene of one of the last chapters of the series that actually reveals where it came from.
Sebastián Mackay Okay, haha. (Spoiler Alert for anyone else) ... It was in the chapter that they went to the captain's house (when they discover Lily is pregnant again). There was a deleted scene where Ted sees a pineapple at the entrance of the house, he asks the captain about it and he tells him it is a good luck charm for sea captains or something like that, and that he has one in the front door of all of his houses. We then see a flashback of Ted in 2005, drunk as hell, picking up the pineapple at the door of the captain's house in new york. I'm pretty sure you can look for the scene in the internet. I believe the reason it was never used is because at the end of the pineapple incident future Ted said they never found out where the pineapple came from.
Come on Himym, this whole thing with the mother is just a side plot, but tell us, WHERE DID THIS PINEAPPLE COME FROM?! If they won't tell us, I don't know what I'll do with my life then. The last few years I only wanted to know to things really, really much: What does Barney do for living: please, already answered. And then there is this pineapple mystery.
From the Wiki: Carter Bays later admitted he learned a lesson from this episode to not write themselves into a corner. The line "we never found out where the pineapple came from" was something they never should have said. From that, I don't think they know where it came from.
There´s way more "cliffhangers" in the series aswell :D a little more minor ones though, for example: Season 5: Marshall´s wallet, what really happened to it?- Season 7: Why were the hats that Doug made wet?- Season 7: What was the "big thing" in Atlantic City which made the trip back to NY impossible for Barney and Marshall. I may be the only one wondering about these, but they still bug the shit out of me :D
Of course, of course, I just took the two big ones. I know in the earlier episodes, we didn't even know who the mother is ;) and thought by every woman "Could she be the one?" Another big one was "the goat" of season 3 and 4, I am not completly sure. But some time passed by since these were unanswered, and the "please" thing was just answered in the episode of that week I wrote my first commentary here. But you're absolutely right, there are so many little questions and things, which make this show my alltime favourite, although I'm not really a sitcom fan. But come on, how can you not love this show and its characters? :)
why do I feel like there was a girl Craig was fixated on like ted is with Robin and he couldn’t get her in real life so in fiction he slandered all the character development and perfect show just for them to end up together, cause why else was it needed to be done?
I don't know why but the fake Moby thing has become such a hilarious insider with one of my friends and we always die laughing when we see "moby" written somewhere😂
nph knocked himself out for his audition? nice. story they didnt set out to tell done in a rather sudden and stupid fashion along with the dismantling of so much in a single episode
it's so weird, now that there have been eight seasons, you look at them in the first season and think "damn, they look like, don't know, 17?" ....and then jason segel comes up with a beard....
the episode was called "THE pineapple incident" , the pineapple that they couldn't find out where it come from , it wasn't just any pineapple , a HIMYM fan would know that . why am i worked up about this ? whatever man
"We know how the final episode is gonna go." Don't get me wrong, cuz I loved the final episode, but that was their biggest mistake. It's good to have a vision but don't make such choices from the begining if you want it to last longer then 3 seasons.
Even though I love HIMYM to death, it's a total copy of scrubs: JD and Ted: Hopeless romantics that go through the season with multiple partners, but end with "best female friend" they started off with. They also both date each other, but it never works out at first. Marshall, Lily, Carla, Turk: What every couple wants to be like, very perfect for each other. Main character strives to find what they have. Both have problems with marriage, and both moms end up in a depression period after the first kid The Todd and Barney: Always crack dirty jokes, demand high fives all the time. Elliot and Robin: Both screw ups in terms of personal life, both became very successful and confident as the season ended. Marshall and Turk: Lovable dufuses SOO MANY MORE, it's ridiculous. These are just the ones off the top of my head
Dhruv Khurana wow. I can't even count how many times I've seen both shows and I never recognized the similarities. I wouldn't go so far to call it a rip-off though. Both shows started very close to each other. Scrubs in 2004 and HIMYM in 2005.
They probably didn't plan it But it almost appears like they use Rajesh for transportation so much that he went from taxi to town car to stretch limousine
Every time I hear Bob Saget talk, I still think it's Ted Mosby in 2030.
True or he is still telling the story xD
true, but it's still weird they didn't actually take josh, since's he's still a grown up and his voice wouldn't change
OffLeatherWings right chills
Lmao same
lol
The writing is great in this show but the cast is like they were literally born for this show and their roles! I'm in the process of watching the show from beginning to end for the 4th time! Greatest show of all time
AnToNcHaMp96 it's great but I still consider friends to be better and two and half men till 9seasons
for me HIMYM friendship was better than friends

I HAVE TO agree I have seen this show more than 7 times. Its funny, engaging, emotional and its old.
this show saved my life. I am so glad that they got these exact actors and continued it to the final end.
legen...wait for it...and I hope you're not lactose-intolerant cause the second half of that word is...dairy!
"Did you know there's a pop tart under the fridge?"
"No, but dibbs."
THAT WAS IMPROVISED?!
No that was scripted, they were just saying that they had a similar sort of back and forth that was improvised during the audition.
fun fact: If the show wasn't picked up after season one, Victoria would have been the mother.
That would be terrible
@@milena14791 disagree, Victoria was amazing!
I legitimately thought Bob Saget's voice was Josh Radnor's
me too
Me too..,
+dragongirl37582 OMG! YASS!!! IT BLEW MY MIND!
I didn't, when I heard it I thought it was bob sages from full house

+Maggie Fulmer that made me smile :)
lol! Lies!!!
Well for one that video was filmed at the end of season 1. And furthermore they did film a second ending where it ends with Ted and Tracy on the Farhampton train station.
BIGGEST LIE
Little did they know, nine brilliant seasons. Also love that 12 second theme song
So Marshall CAN grow a moustache
+Alex Duarte yea....
+MrGoldenFresh "it just comes in patches" lol but irl that guy can grow one hella one
Alex D no. Jason Segel can.
My first thought😂
yup
i think Bob saget should have made a cameo
journey1186 he should've been the deaf guy that ends up dating the girl that talks A LOT
NPH is the best actor/singer/dancer/magician ever
god i miss this show so much
yeah I also miss this show this show is so happy, sad, funny, amazing show 😊😊😊☺☺☺☺❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😇😇😇😇

And 9 seasons in it's still an amazing show!
AUNT ROBIN I THOUGHT THIS WAS HOW YOU MET MOM!! WELL PENNY, WE FUCKING THOUGHT SO TOO!
It's crazy to think...This show takes most place at a bar, and it's not boring at all! It's fricking amazing!
i mean himym:bar
Friends: coffee place
Seinfeld:diner
0:39 what the hell marshall I thought your moustache only grew in patches.
Yes, Marshall's, not Jason's

you knew how you were going to end it from the start...9 seasons to adjust and tweak...and you still fucked it up on a major level. (Major Level)
thumbs up for (Major Level)
