    One thing I've learned over the years, I never put the adhesive on the block side if at all possible, I always put it on the part side. It's a whole lot easier to remove the gasket from the part that you can remove then trying to get in there and scrape it off of the block when it's stuck to it. When I want to hold the gasket in place On the Block such as this especially when it has the studs To help hold it I'll just use a little bit of a grease in a couple spots. Makes it a whole lot easier than next time you have to do it.

    Great video. Should of filmed it when you're tensioning the belt, and I believe you have to select the temp level before tightening, otherwise overall nice work.

      I'm about to do this job on my S40 and wanted to know what you meant by select temp level????

    • @Cargorage
      @Cargorage  Рік тому +2

      In service manual, it does specify the temp and follow the tensioner chart. It's not really necessary, as long as your tensioner is dead on. It's not gonna be off much.

    hi! what kind of thread sealant you put on the water pump bolts? is it some silicone or blue thread seal?

    • @Cargorage
      @Cargorage  Рік тому +2

      It's a thread sealant, don't mix it up with thread locker because they are different. Use "THREAD SEALANT".

    There are timing marks on the top plastic cover.

    How to tighten the tension for the timing belt?

    • @Cargorage
      @Cargorage  8 місяців тому +1

      In the video @ 35:15 the tensioner arrow must be in between the 2 tower. Use an allen key to set the tension. Then use a 12mm wrench to tightened the bolt.

    What is the torque for the crank nut?

      @@Cargorage I’m working on my S40 timing belt and the harmonic balancer nut must have had 500 Ft. Lbs. I had my 150Lbs. Son sitting on a 4ft. long breaker bar while I had a pipe wrench on the 30mm socket and smashing the back of it with a baby sledge to break the nut loose. The previous mechanic who did the timing belt must have used a 3/4” impact to put the bolt back on without torquing it properly. FML

      @@NickAbbot. get the vehicle engine nice and hot. And try loosening it. Heat helps out with stubborn bolts nuts.

      @@Cargorage Yep, tried it. I had MAPP gas torch on it for almost 2 minutes and still wouldn’t budge. Nothing worked except absolute, overwhelming brute force; I don’t have a large compressor or 3/4” impact. I’d like to find the guy who did the last belt and torque his nuts like that. 😂

      Well ur last resort may just be a specialty harmonic balancer socket or starter crank trick 😁
