imo the 2006 version is better vocals
One of the best Brand New songs for sure. Has some of their heaviest riffs towards the end
I love how dynamic this song is. It brings the listener on a whirlwind of emotions. I remember finding it on youtube and ripping it to my iPod in high school. Helped me in study hall.

I think the instrumentals on the original demo were a lot more full and “alive” (same thing with 1996) but I prefer Jesse’s mature voice on the demos. Really miss the little “...we will make your getaway” harmonies of the original though.
I think u got it completely backwards tbh. Jesse's original vox are a little more energetic but the drums on this version are so much better, the guitar with the eq changes and added riffs and extra crunchiness are so epic. Also the mix is way better on the new version.
i think that line you mention is my only complaint in the whole production. shame they removed it without adding anything somewhere else.... maybe they wanted to place more emphasis on the "bargaining chips" lyric playing at the same time...
I prefer his immature voice on pretty much everything lol. The whiny factor that we hear on this version, millstone, and limousine are like never heard ever again
Honestly, I think I like the remastered version better. It's just more refined, but really not all that different. Both are amazing

This is a rerecording done for the physical cassette. The digital version instead had a remaster of the original leak.
I prefer the other vocal track personally. More emotional sounding I feel.

It's the stop-starty nature of it. Biffy are finished now, creatively anyway. Shame.
If you're still alive, could you recommend some good biffy clyro songs? I haven't had the time to listen all the way through the first few albums.

its so strange hearing a new version of this. ive had the original version for about 7 (at a guess) years under the name cleanser in my itunes. i think i prefer the rougher cut of it....its still one if bn's finest hours mind
This song was never called "Cleanser". This is actually a totally different, later version of the song that was released by accident instead of the original version, which was fixed soon. The original version is out there in its original quality, so yeah.

Is this ripped from the cassette, or the version that was accidentally included as a digital download?
is this the one from the digital download or the cassette? because there are apparently two new versions of the song going around
The one available for the first guys using the digital download thats suspected to be the same the cassette has.
This is the "cassette" version, which was originally included with the download, but they swapped it out for the direct remaster of the 2006 demo. This one has a different vocal take and reworked bridge compared to the "original."

I love how evil the instrumentals sound in this version… but I gotta say the original is better.
I don't want to sound like a snob because I respect the fuck out of Jesse Lacey and all of brand new but this song was near perfect the first time. I know as a song writer it annoyed the hell out of Jesse that we heard an unfinished version of this in his opinion so he ended up putting out a "finished" version. But I feel like this song could have been left alone! Good on
their part for remastering the demo version so people like me really couldn't complain and just listen to the other version. And I'm not even saying I don't like it. I just like the other one better.
The more I listen to this version the more I feel like this was the Demo and the other one was the final cut. That's just me though.
Yes, the original was mixed way better and sounded more professionally done.
