I got to see them once but had to leave in the middle of the show. I was really pissed and sad and I hope I can see them again some day (positivity here haha).

There's a video from 2007 of Jesse completely thrashing around on stage and throwing the microphone stand over. From the first "so pray!" until the last "yeah you won't know..." he pretty much screams the whole song. Such a great performance, I just wish the video they got was better quality.

And I know exactly what turned me off every time, the very name - Brand New. To this day I think it’s their weak spot. Their only weak spot 😎. So, the reason I never checked them out was because the name didn’t do it for me, because it had a plain and unimaginative ring to it. Talk about stupid and superficial way of thinking 😠. BUT, just to make sure that irony isn’t just a word, one (for me) lucky day when the stars aligned just right 🤩 “the devil and god are raging inside me” appeared on my suggestions list and I couldn’t keep myself away from checking out what the hell this music is, solely for the fact how absolutely sick and awesome title it was ✊. .. and Sowing Season blew me away on the first listen!.. ..and my lifelong relationship with Brand New officially began 🥳🥳🥳 ..

I recently got one of my really good “music nerd” friends into Brand New. He is a bit on the pretentious side when it comes to music, and I can be too. But he always wrote this band off, and never gave them a chance, partially because of the name, and partially because of the bands they often get bundled in with. But I told him “Man, you are really really missing out by not listening to The Devil and God Are Raging Inside of Me, Daisy, and Science Fiction”. Thankfully he listened to me, and now he is realizing what an amazing band they are.
This performance of this song is so emotional. I have loved this song since 2006, but now this song has a very personal meaning to me, as it makes me think of my son, because my ex wife keeps me from seeing him. “And I wish that I could tell you right now, that I love you But it looks like I won't be around So you won't know”
