To be honest I felt a bit sorry for Uibo in the 1500m. He gave so much effort to stay as close as possible behind Kaul who looked so chilled all the way through the run while Uibo seemed nearly dying to keep up his chances of winning gold. Great athletes, all of them.
It's so cool having Dan O'Brien as a commentator. He comes up with relevant remarks all the time and spots technical flaws and room for improvement. In my country they put clowns behind the mic who have never seen a pole or a javelin from nearby.
Germany always kills it in the Decathlon - even Kevin Mayer's family comes from Lorraine which borders Germany, there must be something in the water there. Kaul can definitely be an all time great in the event!!!
Dan O'Brien is such a fantastic commentator! And I love being able to re watch events. Thanks and please continue posting complete converge of World Championships events. Wonderful to re watch.
after 9 events just 73 points between the top 5. Fantastic! And makes for a nerve wracking 1500. As much as I like the 100, the decathlon takes the cake ...... and the camaraderie forged by empathy is reason itself to participate.
Even as a German I'd say that Mayer was nearly unbeatable the last several years and can only beat himself Kauls performance was Amazing! No Doubt! But it was still way behind Mayer's World Record. Fun fact: everytime Mayer had to leave the competition a german won, last time at EC 2018, when Mayer failed in the long jump!
I think after the 2021 Olympics Kaul will have a great future! And has a good chance of breaking the world record and winning multiple championships ...But I'm sure Mayer will win the Olympics! And will recieve all glory yet to earn. And Kaul will later end his reign. But in my opinion Mayer will always be THE most consistent decathlete of all times, in his 2018 WR performance he hasn't shown any weakness in any discipline! And dominated the field! Kaul may beat the score anytime soon, but never this consistency of Mayer! 👍
@@hcfff8432 Never beat the consistency of Mayer? Niklas Kaul is the only athlete to have scored 800 points in all 10 events in the same decathlon (EC U23). He's mister consistency if you ask me.
@@hcfff8432 I know what you mean by that but Mayer is 6 years older. This is only the beginning of Kaul's career, in 6 years from now Kaul's consistency might be better than Mayer's. It's just a matter of time in 6 years a lot of things can happen.
retty sure a 50+ and a 80+ will fall for him at some point for his strongest events. Other wise he can be happy if he keeps his high jump,1500 Metres and pole vault on the same lvl. Improvement is still doable in the foreseeable future on the shot put and 400 Metres. However I am not so sure if he will improve much in the short distance running events and long jumps but thats obviously very ok for him
"But it was still way behind Mayer's World Record. " So what? How old is Meyer and how old is Kaul? Kaul has got very much time to improve and it must not be the worlrecord.
He is only 21 years old tho...he has massive potential and can develop in these events and as you can see, he is able to dominate in the others, he definitely has Avery bright future and will dominate in the years to come.
I am not sure about the stats but I think there has never been a later world or olympic champion so far behind after day 1. Kaul is far better on the second day but he was not at his best in the first day in Doha (long and high jump were subpar for him) and he excelled in pole, discus and javelin on day 2, so the difference was even starker than usual with him. BTW the u23 Euro earlier in 2019 was also very close until the javelin with the Estonian Erm being very strong and going from PB to PB. Estonia has more world class decathletes in relation to population than any other country by some margin (as they have only about 1.3 mio), although Germany usually has overall more >8000 points guys each year than any other (from a much higher population, obviously).
I love how the commentator says during the javelin event that the medals will go to Uibo, Warner, Shkurenyov or Lepage because they "are miles ahead of the rest"
ALL PARTICIPANTS IS SUPER PRACTICE FULL, TECHNICAL FULL, STAMINA FULL, POWERFUL FULL, AND STRONG........... IN THIS SITUATION WINER IS WONDERFUL.............
I was so excited to finally see a Canadian in one of these events, I was so impressed by them at first, but it was disappointing that they couldn't keep it up in the end. Certainly they'll be motivated now to improve and do better next time! Great effort by everyone though.
The pronunciation of Kaul ist very funny. Normally it's sound like Koul in English but they say mostly Kaúl😂 Nice performance from him and also Kazmirek (without the hurdles). But I also think without the insure of Mayer, Mayer have win.
he got no coverage because at this stage he helps make up the field. I wonder how much he can improve? Not physically imposing at all but obviously he's talented
Damien Warner has to be the least aggressive athlete I’ve ever watched. His throws, high jump, pole vault, it’s like watching a kitten. Dude needs to attack more and get that champion mentality. He looks apathetic to the outcome from the outside
@@stevecrocker6904 I also think that it's very deceptive. He is lean, almost slight and very fast (the best 100m and 110 hurdles among current decathletes) so he will look somewhat different, especially in the throws than the more massive guys. I think it was a bit the nerves or not ideal shape. He was better in Götzis and maybe peaked a little too early.
bios theoretikos I’m not saying his physicality, he’s clearly an absolute freak athlete. But he has no attack. He looks like he’s about to cry or completely apathetic to what’s going on majority of the time. Would just be nice to see the fire inside him burn for once, get some Maurice Greene tongue and eye action going and just go off
I've been watching these competitions here on UA-cam lately. I've noticed that the pole vaulters men or women after they clear and go to retrieve the pole vault why do they place the pole above their heads and look to the side like someone is taking measurements or pictures?
That is allowed unless you are running a shorter distance (inside of the bend) or if the other athlete claims to be hampered, which won't happen too often as decathletes are known for their great sportsmanship.
Driss auf Mayer. Es ist Sport und Mayer hat sich verletzt und das stellt auf keinen Fall den Sieg von Niklas Kaul hintenan. Er ist ein super Talent und besser als Mayer in diesem Alter jemals war. Mayer was blessed, but Kaul was a great winner. Mayer wasn't good as this age. Sorry put of your french eyeglasses
I really don't like the camera shots at the starting line, which look up to the racers' faces, from a foot away. Am I the only one? Please quit those shots. I'm sure the competitors don't like them either.

Uibo is just a genius!! How he was able to run hurdles, he almost fell in the beginning🙀🙀
I think that was Oîglane who almost fell, in the same race as Kazmirek
Thibault_adb Just look Uibo’s heat and you will see it🙌🏽🙌🏽
Thibault_adb Öiglane stumbled heavily as well, really went deep into bent knees.
Wow you watched the first five minutes. Good for you
Seeing Kevin Mayer in so much pain is absolutely heartbreaking.
One of the best Decathlon sportive we've ever had
I competed in the Decathlon back in the 70's. These guys are soooooooo much better than I was!
Well,this are the world championships😂
Merle W even If he was one of the best in the 70s he’d still be nowhere near these guys
@@ianbusche1471 Yes, even the great Bruce Jenner who I competed against would not be able to compete with these guys.
Canada still came in strong. Looking forward to the future of decathletes from Canada in Lepage
Ben Johnson cheated .

They meant in regards to the decathlon, not the individual event.
do they have a different pair of shoes for each event?
