I have been there 5 times (from Iowa)..my favorite place in the world. First time there was in 1980 and there was a Bigfoot totem along the beach..

How far down did you hike to get to the caves and arches? I felt like we hiked pretty far down but don't recall coming near this area.

It was fun to witness the several times when you would first photograph one of the rock openings and I would guess a certain size or scale of the opening until the video would cut to when a human would be traveling through it thus giving The true perspective which was always different than what I had previously assumed. I also wondered about the groups the hikers would use when climbing Dusty hillside. Are those ropes provided by private citizens or by the government? I was just curious. I also was curious about the shelter and seat. Did you rent it from the park? Or was that another private citizen creation?

Some ropes are tied on steep slopes by Olympic National Park rangers, some are ropes that were washed up on the beach and tied up by hikers. The Olympic National Park has done very little to maintain many remote trails over the last couple of decades. The shelter, seat and other driftwood structures were made informally by wilderness campers.
