It was a different time. Donna's parents forbid her from dating him because of his nationality. So they broke up. Shortly after, the plane crash occurred, and the legend of Ritchie, Buddy, and the Big Bopper began. Rip to each of them.
@@estavillo2112yea Im Puerto Rican and have a cousin that's white Hispanic green eyes and blond hair and his gfs dad didn't want him dating his daughter he didn't even know he was Hispanic until he asked his daughter for his full name
such an amazing talent gone so extremly young and i was the one asking for richie valens reactions ty and pls do his version off labamba with lyrics and translations
After the plane crash happened Waylon Jennings suffered from survivors remorse. Ritchie was supposed to ride the bus home from the show they all did and Waylon was supposed to fly back. It was cold and the weather was bad and Ritchie was really sick so Waylon gave his seat on the plane to Ritchie. Ritchie also sang LaBamba.
Actually Ritchie flipped a coin with Tommy Allsup for his eat on the plane. The Big Bopper was the one who was sick with the flu and asked Waylon for his seat on the plane, which Waylon gave him.
It's important to remember with music from this period is that they pretty much hit record and hoped for the best. Pure raw talent. And Ritchie was a songwriter. A latino(like myself) legend.
ok Gibby, there is a song called American Pie...Don McClean...it's about the plane crash of Ritchie, Buddy Holly, and The Big Bopper. please do a live version
Huge loss “The day the music died.” RIP, Ritchie, Buddy, & JP.

His nationality was American. It was his ethnicity that was held against him.

The guy was only 17 when he achieved legend status, rip Richie 🙏
Buddy Holly died in the same plane crash. You need to do Buddy Holly. He was an amazing early rocker.
And now the man needs to listen to American Pie and research The Day the Music Died.
Another classic singer
Grande Richie Valens, morreu cedo deixou saudades
R.I.P Richard Valenzuela, our great Chicano
Ritchie deserved such a better life. After all the work and troubles, then losing his girl, then his life.
Oh my, I remember listening to this (and other songs) while crying and hugging either my cat or my teddy bear when I was lovesick as a teenager. 😿
Rip Richie Valens he died at the age of 17 years old from a plane crash with the big bopper and Buddy Holley in Iowa
So gritty and raw. :-)
Donna now lives in a small community near Sacramento with her third husband. She has two daughters.Jun 3, 2020
A personal favorite growing up, along with La Bamba. And yes I am a millennial.
RIP 💕💕💕
Donna's parents would not let her date Ritchie because he was Mexican and she was white.

We Belong Togrther and Let's Go by Ritchie Valens. Valens is short for Valenzuela, his real last name. The music industry shortened it.
I would highly suggest you watch the movie 'La Bamba' starring Lou Diamond Phillips.

Wow.....quick service...... :-) Its a true story. There is on YT a interview with the real Donna. He was also a member of "The Four Seasons".
Her family didn't approve, according to the movie.
Devin, you're still saying his name WRONG. It's pronounced Val-in's (*short "a" like in the word "valentine"). 😊
