@@michelerich1590 it's not overrated, it was just a fun film for the 80's kids all over the world. I guess the same would happen with Harry Potter and that stuff for millenials.
What a gem of a movie. I miss the days of just watching this, Back to the Future, Superman, Star Wars and The Neverending Story on repeat. Thank you Steven Speilberg, Richard Donner and George Lucas for a very special childhood.
100%. Those movies, like a lot of them did back then, seemed to have a resonance - or commonality - with young people at the time. The characters, places, etc. seemed like they actually existed. We went on adventures outdoors, we rebelled against authority at school, we thought _maybe_ time travel was possible, etc. Movies seemed to be just a slightly (we wished) exaggerated version of reality.
They say this movie was made with love, and that's why it's such a classic success...but I think it's beyond that. I believe it's right timing in the 80's golden era movie industry as well as pop culture. That's what made movies like "The Goonies, Back to the Future, Breakfast Club"..and sit-coms "The Wonder Years" into such icons. The 80's to early 90's was the nostalgic wonder teenage years for most of us.
Richard Donner 💝 still love this short documentary from the DVD special features, really awesome to see behind-the-scenes footage of this classic 80s film, thank you for uploading, favorite movie growing up as a kid. 😎📼💀 3/2/23
The 1980's were a Golden Age in entertainment - music, TV, video games, movies. The mid '80's were arguably a peak WITHIN this peak. _Goonies_ and _Back to the Future_ were the cherries on top. We took it for granted that entertainment would stay the same or get better. How wrong we were.
i was 9 when it came out. a friend of my mom had a cinema at he time (here in germany) and he gave me all the original posters when it was not playing anymore AND the original book! i´ve read it at least 100 times and i recommend it to every true fan of the goonies! lots of untold stuff to discover...
LOVE this movie! One of my all time favorites! I do wish they would have left the police car crashing into the boat scene at 0:50 as that would have added even more to the great chase at the beginning of the movie. I didn't even know that clip existed until I saw this behind the scenes video. There are SO many clips that were filmed but not used in the final cut of the movie. The whole encounter at the store scene with Troy and the scene with the octopus should have definitely been left in for continuity in the movie. Either that, or they should have eliminated some dialog and brief camera shots so it didn't make people question WHAT Data was talking about at the end or HOW the map all of sudden was burned when it wasn't at the time they found it...😉
I’m only 11 but this is the best old 1980’s movie I’ve ever seen and Sean Astin sry inf the last name wrong but you are asome as bob in stranger things and all you guys best movie ever :)
I watched yesterday with my 5 year old son and it was even better than I remember! The High quality master and the TVs these days compared with my betamax copy from when I was a boy... It's a marvel of a movie. Richard Donner did a great job directing this kids. Impossibly Funny!!
@@TheVesylum In the magazine they made at the time, they showed many cut scenes, including one where Andy takes the Goonie oath & scene where Data had a smoke screen of sometime.

Well, he's referring to their personalities and ability to work with them. Not all producers and directors are like the ones who abused the 2 Corey's whom were s. Assaulted. Richard Donner even gave chunk a letter of rec and helped pay for his education in law school in which chunk became an entertainment lawyer. They were flown to Hawaii also to meet rich Donner after the goonies wrapped production. It seems the abuse scandals did not apply with the big guys on this one
I hate reboots as much as the next person but if they ever do a re-make of this specific movie which I don’t know why they would, it would need to be live-action and almost ever shot would need to be practical just like it was in the original, too much cgi would be this movie’s downfall.
The goonies is literally everyone’s favorite 80s movie. I love this movie very much this will forever be a classic.
it's so overrated lol

Yeah until the new generation gets a hold of it and criticizes it, and then say it should be banned.

They don’t make movies like this no more probably one of my all time favorite childhood movies 💯
They aren’t allowed to. Freedom of expression is banned
Goonies, Stand by me, The Breakfast club, Back to the future. These are the 4 iconic 80's movies!
