Josh Brolin Remembers "The Goonies" | CONAN on TBS
/ teamcoco - Розваги
It really warms my heart to see that after all these years people still have so much love for The Goonies. Greatest movie of my childhood. GOONIES FOREVER!!!!
I agree
My old man took me to see the Goonies when it came out in the UK. I was 7. Best day ever.
And now he's both Thanos and Cable.
SmashBros1235. Also Trupo in American Gangster and Llewelyn from No Country for Old Men. Plus the Sicario movies.
And Jonah Hex
Old boy is great film
And also young agent K MIB
Cause he is a great actor!
Gotta love the audience's reaction when they brought up the film in question.
I felt like Josh Brolin is one of those people that hates what basically made him famous. I'm glad he still loves it
Dalton Moen He seems to be nostalgic about Goonies, not so much when it comes to his role in Thrashin' which I loved as a kid.
Johnny Cade he hates that too
ua-cam.com/video/RrwbIzgXSV4/v-deo.html
Dalton Moen how could you hate being a Goonie?
As an actor, I can fully understand why he wants to move on from his early works.
They showed us "The Goonies" in my sixth grade English/history class in December of 2005 when I was eleven-years-old. Now, the reasoning behind this was because it was our Christmas party, and school policy was that any film the teachers showed to us had to be PG or under. I remember we had our math and science block before this, and we were coming off a high after watching "Elf", and I, and the rest of the kids, were just charged full of sugar. We get to our English/history block, and "The Goonies" was one of the option. I was raised alongside two older brothers and one younger brother as the only girl, but we'd never seen it growing up. So, I'm rolling my eyes, totally disrespectful towards any 1980's movie that doesn't have "Molly Ringwald" written above the title, and just munching on the treats we got in that class - it's a miracle I didn't get any cavities then (still to this day, this is true), or crash from all the sugar I was willingly ingesting. Our teacher, Mr. Matt, turns it on, and I'm just listening to the overly-loud clock ticking behind me - my middle school was built in the 1950's, and I don't think it's seen a remodel yet - and waiting for my final double block of the day to be over. We're watching it, and everyone's enjoying themselves, and then, suddenly the Fratellis come crashing onto the scene, and then, just a few minutes later, I hear Cyndi Lauper for the first time. Over Christmas break, I got a copy of the DVD and I played it over and over again, just to listen to her sing the title song, because I didn't have a laptop yet or regular access to Google. Still remember that day, nearly fourteen years later...
My wife never saw Goonies, nor any of the Rocky films. The divorce papers are already in the mail.
+James Bauer You made the right choice bro
+James Bauer Cant fault you mate. Hopefully she'll watch them before she has the nerve to marry again.
+James Bauer There are some questions you have to ask someone before getting married.
+James Bauer WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT!????? She never saw The Goonies or Rocky!??? Dude, ditch her!
pretty sure you can´t married with non real person...
There are two movies that will never die with me: Shawshank Redemption and The Goonies. Pure Awesomeness.
You can add Stand By Me to that list too ;-)
FUN MOVIE FACT:
The pirate ship from "The Goonies" is the same pirate ship you see in Spielberg´s "HOOK". ;-)
My god that's awesome
Another fun fact; the Nazi submarine that Indiana Jones climbs onto in Raiders Of The Lost Ark, is the same submarine that Wolfgang Petersen had built for his WW2 classic, Das Boot.
CHEAP BASTARD!!!!!!!!
gallai1 really 👌 👌 👌
gallai1 .
Chunk: "There, how's that?"
Mikey: "Oh my god you idiot you put it on backwards!"
Brand: "If God had made it that way you'd all be pissin' in your faces!"
LOL LOVE That Movie!
Yes, I remember now. The statue that Chunk broke.
"I'm not sloth"
ROFLMAO, that was funny
D G are you kidding me?!? he is rolling on his floor.. that is a disgrace to my religion
they just don't make movies like they use 2! 80's were classics!!!
Especially the soundtracks!!!
Totally agree. The film was so well directed and the cast were all so friendly. 89’s movies were so fun to watch, too.
Yes Jaws, Jurassic park, Indiana Jones etc etc...to name a few!!
@ What movies are you watching? I don't remember any of that while I was watching JOKER...or any movie this year.
They also don't make movies like they did in the 1920s
Filmed in 1984, Conan! Released in 1985!
I love the Goonies, but I forgot that he was in it. I was 4 years old in 1985.
Subatomic1000 released on VHS in 1986
i know I'm like what u talking about 1986 it was made when I was baby
Uncle Sam June 84
"HOLY SHIT!" lol they should have left that in the movie
+samsquanch1996 right? its true what south park creators said about kids "thats how they talk" generally speaking.
id be like holy fuck! lol
+Buxenwolf its ironic he couldn't say that cause I can name at least 5 insurances where they say shit.
Lol thanks.
+Michael zzz ha Truman show.
+samsquanch1996 But, the kids do say shit in the movie a few times. Chunk and Mouth I believe.
Goonies never say die!
Apparently they also never say "holy shit"
Oh yes they do!
I am from Brazil! I love The Goonies !
That should have been saved, but they didn't actually have home video extras so much back in the 80's. :P
oh no!that's my mom's most favorite piece....you wouldn't be very here if it wasn't.lol ahhh
A pure blessing having The Goonies in our life 🙏
His use of gnarly. He seems like a good guy. Goonies forever.
+Brandon Henderson That's actually the correct grammatical use of the word.
+TheFubbick Yeah, I know. I was commending him for using the word.
He grew up surfing
The fact that decades later he can look back and feel the same feelings and amazement he did as a kid when many of us saw that pirate ship on the screen all those years ago
Goonies will always be that nostalgic escape i take when life starts kicking my ass. It captured a moment in time so perfectly :)
Goonies was just movie-making perfection. Never could a movie like that be made today.
Nowadays any director willing to use a real ship (among other things) rather than CGI would be fired from the job, and likely the script would be immediately rewritten to purge it from "toxic masculinity" (definition: anything that boys seem to enjoy)
@@Johnny_Savage real
The kids swear like sailors in that movie.
PakistaniCult there’s about 3 swear words fucktard there’s another for you
I know, isn't it great?
As the son of a US Navy veteran, they most certainly do not.
That's a big negative shipmate
PakistaniCult what kid that age doesn't? It was more real
I love hearing that story. They tell it on the bonus content DVD, but how smart and cool was that for Donner to want GENUINE reactions from the kids? Most directors just don't think that way anymore, let alone actors couldn't even picture the real ship because it's probably on some stupid green screen. The attention to detail on a simple kids film is what makes it such a legend. I believed that those kids were actually going through an adventure, and the more I hear these great stories, I think the actors felt they were too. Must have been awesome to be on set!
I like how on the bonus DVD, Richard Donner is telling the story about how they kept the kids from seeing it and a couple of them then admit that they actually snuck in and saw the ship beforehand. I think it was Corey Feldman and Sean Astin.
I own that disc and all the boys in the cast peeked at the boat. But how all of the work Richard Donner did to really keep the kids from seeing the boat.
The Goonies no is a movie... is a magic!
I can recite almost every word spoken in Goonies from start to finish. My favorite movie of all time
That's what I said, booty traps.
Data from Indiana Jones 👌
@@thakingis he was in Encino Man as well
Could not believe when he said that! Funny as heck.
@@thakingis Star Trek*
Booty taps?
Can't believe this is 8 years old. Goonies is an American staple that I gladly will introduce my 4 year old daughter too. The impact this movie had is immeasurable.
REST IN PEACE JOHN MATUSZAK✝️SLOTH. Roman
He passed away? 😥
I LOVED the crowds reaction when "The Goonies" were mentioned. :))))
Goonies is a classic
Fan correction: Conan said they filmed The Goonies in 1986, but the movie came out in 1985.
The Goonies was filmed in 1984, but the movie was released in 1985.
Exactly Conan fucked up, that funny drunk Mick. Ha ha ha ha!
Josh also said it was 28 years ago but if it was made in 85 that would mean it was 32 years ago
video came out in 2012 lol
Mattw321 touche sir touche
goonies never say die.
Brad: Fine, I'll do it myself. *grabs infinity gauntlet*
Omg gushing over here. He totally helped out my childhood out here in the country. That movie helped drive my imagination. Much respect. Josh is still bae
"Holy Mary Mother of God!"
+Mr. Mayhem What a ya want now? LOL!
My mom smacked me when I repeated this line. LOL!!!
It's what appeared 2 b... a pirate ship
The Goonies is one of my all time favorite movies.
One of my favorite movies!!!!!!!
Stage 16 is the largest sound stage in the world. The floor can be taken out and filled with water. That's where they shot the Goonies "One Eyed Willy's" Pirate Ship scene.
My Cousin's and I went to see this Movie at the Theater I was 10 years old. what a great memory. This Movie never gets old. My Son is almost 5 and Loves this movie,
Goonies has been my favorite movie, my kids & I watched it countless times, I watched it with my grand kids now I'm loving sharing it with my great grand kids.
Just watched The Goonies for the first time this week. Great movie. Seeing a young Josh Brolin was a treat!

What's funny is I think I had the VHS recording of The Goonies when I was little, and I do remember Josh Brolin actually saying that when they saw the ship. XD Classic.
Holy shit! I literally just found out who this guy WAS! Just recently watched Planet Terror and looked up who the actors were, and hotline showed up on the list. He has changed so much in every way, fucking crazy!
No Country For Old Men is worth a watch as well.
Yeah I saw that, it was awesome. Old Boy was a bit underrated too, I liked it a lot
From Goonies to thanos. Damn he's changed over the years
I had the BIGGEST crush on him when he was in the goonies. And then I didn’t know who he was until last year. Unbelievable
"You wouldn't be here if it wasn't"
shut up mouth
joe blow
"Yeah, shut up Data"
:)
Her favorite part on the statue!!! "Shut up Mouth! "
And years later....Thanos haha
You see how happy he is, those feelings are genuine, he is still that kid😂
I loved Brand. Had such a crush on him. .....not that he aint hot now!!
God I am old! My two boys watch the Goonies now. :-)
Amazing Amy young or old you’re beautiful
he can still do the Brand voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Imagine after interviewing josh how great he is in sicario then tell him we love his role in goonies the most.
Lol, I throughly enjoyed this...good times and best memories of a childhood classic!! 🙌🏽
Josh seems like a real chill hombre. I like his demeanor.
Dog gone it! This man is still HAWT. I love love Josh Brolin. Young Riders!!! He is also extremely talented.
I will never betray my Goondock friends, we will stick together until the whole world ends. Through Heaven and Hell and Nuclear war good pals like us will stick like tar. In the city, the country, the forest, or the boonies, I am proudly declared one of the GOONIES!!!
He's aging well...still sexy
And he plays Thanos
Cable too and with Sicario: Day of the Soldado he's one of the best actors working in hollywood today.
Goonies never say die
Brolin now plays a character in love with Death
That audience member's reaction @0:26 after he said Goonies was priceless. I would have done the same thing. YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
this film really deserves a sequal .28 years later it has a huge following come on Spielberg and Richard Donner whats the delay?????????
I don't want a sequel. They'd spoil the original.
wow! As soon as Conan mentions Goonies, the audience cheered! (0:26)
Oh, that was the set for the Ship? Man, if I was there, I would totally daydream on camera or in the audience (however I could be there) about the Ship being there and everything happening around the ship. THAT IS CRAZY.
Josh Brolin 😍 oh my
you can't deny that was an awesome movie!
The only thing as good as "The Goonies" is Cyndi Lauper's music video for the theme song "Goonies 'r' Good Enough". Cyndi will always be the Queen of Camp!
She hated that song, though I don't know why, because it was better than most of the pop trash from the 80's.
Totally agree
SALTY Peasents Always Need Salt She didn't hate the song. She hated that the movie or music video wasn't what the song was about
Cyndi doesn't hate the song at all. She said in her biography when she met with Spielberg to discuss the music video with him, he presented his idea for it and she told him that she had a different vision for the video. And unfortunately, Spielberg didn't like it. So, she was disappointed about that. But she likes the song a lot. She still sings it when when she tours.
@Brush Yo TEEF. Absolutely! 😊👍
It was 1985 Conan! Come on man! LOL
That reaction from all the 80's kids was awesome. I'd be yelling too.
So awesome! I never knew that!!!
0:26 that guy yelling YEAH!!!!!!
Interesting interview!
We were actually talking about the Goonies a week or so back (when Donner was talking about the sequel again) and trying to recall who played all the kids. We remembered Corey Feldman, of course, and Sean Astin, and Martha Plimpton (I had to look up her name, but I knew her face) but it's never occurred to me until this moment that Josh Brolin played the older brother.
I loved him in Only the Brave. WOW
it's adorable how much he loves his first movie
Holy crap!! I watched goonies so many times and never realized the older bro was Josh Brolin wtf thats awesome!!
lived in Central California for a while and the folks there love this guy, which says a lot
Loooooooove the Goonies!!!
Good interview. Actually liked this one
"I'm not Sloth!" That was great!
that goonies t shirt guy looked like a fatter Leornado di Caprio
Ashutosh Sachan - So, you mean... Leonardo diCaprio
Ashutosh Sachan You mean, LeoNERDo DiCRAPrio.
I live in Vancouver in Southwest Washington across the Columbia River from Portland, so it's a couple hours between here and the coast where it was all filmed! I go to Astoria and Seaside at least once a year for the day with family, but not really Cannon Beach so much.
That was pretty funny. I saw Goonies first time when it was new on VHS in '86.
Been on the Conan clip binge for well over an hour... Can't... Get... Off!
Growing up in the 80's was so awesome! No Bills, No work, No headache - Just school, afternoon 80's cartoons, eat, sleep and repeat! + the 80's movies.
I know the whole movie by heart, I can literally watch it in my head.
Make a part 2 it's time .
I'm 17 and still love this movie
I remember the first time I ever saw this, I think I was either 6 or 7 and my mom said that I picked up a few curse words from that movie XD
1985!!!!!!! someone yells
hey you guys haaa
LOL. Priceless.
Never would have guessed Thanos was in “The Goonies”
So this guy's gonna be Thanos, huh?
He's a great actor.
He's fucking awesome watch Wall St Money Never Sleeps he's amazing in it
EAchank I think he was best in "No Country For Old Men".
+GdoubleWB i approve!
GdoubleWB C A B L E
"I'll hit you so hard, your clothes will go out of style!"
Thanos everybody
he wasnt wrong, when people woke up 6 years later their style was out
@@TheGhostofMrArthurs People are wearing more less same crap for last 30 years
Josh Brolin is by far one of the best actors out there.
Obviously that's just my opinion but I don't see how many people could disagree with me.
He's not an ass hole like some of the meat heads in Hollywood like Charlie Sheen and Gary Busey. He's also not an overrated actor who tries to steal the spotlight on and off the screen.
He's been in quite a few classics and has stolen the show in many of them.
Two of my favorite movies that he was in that he just played a phenomenal role in are Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and American Gangster.
In Wall Street, he wasn't even the star of that movie but in my opinion, he was the most impressive of the movie, hands down.
And in American Gangster, he also stole the show with his amazing acting abilities. Any part he plays, he just does it so unbelievably well.
Mr. Mayhem he can totally change characters and I don't know its him
Mr. Mayhem no country for old men is one of my favorite movies all time
no country is a masterpiece and his acting is perfect in it
I bet u could love his character in "inherent vice"
Ohhhh snap!!!!! he was the older Mean brother OMG I would have never guessed it. That’s freaking amazing.
The Goonies, The Lost Boys, and Big Trouble In Little China are my three 80’s favorites.
Honorable mentions to The Breakfast Club, Gostbusters, Ferris Buellers Day off, Sixteen Candles, Uncle Buck, and Planes Trains and Automobiles. (Pretty much anything by John Hughes.)
Stand by Me needs to also be up there with the greats
Back to the Future!
"I was seven" lmao
1:16 lol omg its sloth😂
The pirate ship set is one of the greatest sets every created.
josh brolin has such a great presence
Love Goonies .love the shirt I have the same shirt goonies never die
I'm wearing a Goonies t-shirt right now
Nice to see all those actors who went to phoenix
