I have a tip for keeping salads fresh in ziplock bags. I do this for all of my greens. Place a paper towel in the bag with them. If it's a smaller bag, just fold it. It will absorb the moisture and keep it from settling on your foods. I've kept greens fresh for up to a month in my fridge this way. When you open it to take some out, place a fresh paper towel in. Let the paper towel you remove dry, it won't take long. That way you repurpose it, and you're not wasting anything. 😊
@@tracker5849, if that's the case, try sandwhiching your greens between 2 paper towels in the bag. Keeping it in your crisper drawer helps as well. I wrap green onions, Celery and even a whole head of lettuce in paper towels. And because it's just water, once they dry, you can reuse them. No waste.
I will become a nomad this Friday! Every time fear comes up…. I think of you and ruby …. Thank you for the inspiration and courage… I love that you’re grateful… it reminds me to remain in an attitude of gratitude 🙏 Much love ❤
I feel like These vids with Rowan and Ruby are the only peace I’m getting these days. It helps me feel centered to share her days, see nature, darling Ruby etc. THANK YOU DEAR ONES ❤️🍓
Beeswax has a higher melting point and takes longer to melt. I get beeswax from an apiary and love it. Soy is easier if you ever want to try that out. Also, you never add essential oils to product during the heating phase. You add the oils during the cooling/cool down phase. They're more fragrant that way. You burn the essential oils, you not only kill the scent, but kill the properties if you were adding it to body butters or scrubs.
I would love to hear you talk about how you learned all the things you know about making your teas, salves, candles, etc. Do you forage? If so, how did you learn? Were you raised with folks who were self-reliant or are you self-taught? I meant to mention this in an earlier video, but I really like your window covers.
Love the music and the beautiful views! I come here to relax and that is what happens when I watch your videos! I wonder if you could put some of those beautiful blooms in the candles. I have never made candles, so not sure how that would work. Steak and salad is one of my go to simple meals. Also, I find it helpful to use scissors to cut up my greens into more manageable bites, it took me many years to realize you can do that...duh! LOL! Peace and Love! Give Ruby kisses on her pretty round head for me! 😁
Your self care is healing to me Rowan. ❤ The beauty, creativity, peace and pace with Ruby is all so special, even when simple. Your new lights over the kitchen make it look like a bistro. Really sets off the rest of your cool space. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe! 🌲 🐕 🍓
If you ever need even more concentrated light, like task lighting right over your cooking area, I’ve recently found some cool (and cheap) small strip under cabinet lights on Temu… I know, I know… but if you’re careful you can find some neat things there, you just have to play whack-a-mole with them to get what you’re looking for. Anyway, the lights are rechargeable, and can run solid, or in Motion Detection mode, and come in various sizes, some small enough for drawers, steps, etc. They come with double stick foam tabs for placement, but also magnetic, so you have a few options! Anyway, I ended up with 3 (I only remember ordering 2), but they’ve come in so handy I’m glad they goofed. 🤭
I always enjoy watching your videos. I suffer with anxiety and all the things that come with that. Your videos are so calming and I love seeing your ideas for van life. **hugs**
I'm so impressed with how you are adding things to improve your van. It really has become a very comfy cozy home. Ruby is growing s fast. What a beautiful companion for you.
Hi Rowan I'm Kerry from England and I love watching your videos... Please can you do some more videos as I've already watched them all and your so calming.. I have a very stressful job and look forward to your videos 🥰
So I only recently found your channel and started watching you. The first video I saw I think you were in a car. Now you are in a van with a dog! I love it but I've got some catching up to do! I also want to tell you your van gives off such a cozy, homey feeling! I enjoy your videos!
Hello Rowan & Ruby! I absolutely love your van & all that you do with it. You are so creative & I'm learning a lot from you about living on the road. It's been a few years since I've done off-on-road living. I used to go exploring overland with my adult sons. My youngest son Colin went to heaven too early & I haven't been since then. In fact, the last time I was able to hug him was on our trip to Vermont & we had such a beautiful time. Anyway - I am off for the first time since then. I took a longish road trip down south to visit my best friend and IT WAS HARD. I need a lot of tweaking on my set up (Jeep Wrangler). Sleeping in the back in a teeny space made me feel I was in an episode of 'Hoarders.' 😂But, I hope the trip home is better. Thanks for the inspiration & God bless you & yours. KIndly....
There's a CIRCLE BIT, that drills HOLES IN THE BOARD UNDER YOUR BED. EASY TO DO. ❤ MAKE LOTS OF HOLES TO PREVENT MOLD. LOTS OF PEOPLE SAY THEY LEARNED THE HARD WAY. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ love your van and videos. ❤❤❤
I come to your channel to chill, and you did not disappoint on this one! I love your sensibility and your photography, overall calm and smart approach to van living. Love that ukulele....so soothing. Ruby is growing up!
Awesome to see you today, you make my day. I’m learning the guitar (well, giving it a go) I play the piano and a few other instruments, music soothes the soul❤ love me some Ruby running about. Your steak salad looks 😋 yum. Enjoy your day.😊
I've been making candles for 10 years professionally and I've never seen the method you used before! It's so smart - so little clean up and very effective! I'll definitely be using that for at home projects in the future :) Thanks Rowan!
Hi Rowan I love your videos.. You make Awesome Videos.. Me and my husband have been nomads for almost 20 yrs now and we love this life style.. Please be safe out there and remember Safety is always first.. Love the Candles..
I am so happy I ran across your channel! Your set up is awesome. What a wonderful way to explore life. I love to watch the way you cook. Thank you for sharing your van life. I am certainly a big fan! Hugs to you and Ruby.
How fun! Making candles , took my daughter for a hike ...45 yr ago and we made sand candles :))) So happy for you putting. It all beautifully together , Ruby has grown so fast ❤ Happy for you❤ looking healthy ❤ God Bless
It looked fairly easy to make the candles I always imagined it would be difficult and fussy. Your van is looking so pretty and comfy.. I loved the big pot you made the candles in. It's a beautiful park you have chosen to stay a while in so peaceful especially with the ukelele music in the background.. take care of you and Rubes 😊
I love your vlogs, your van is so cozy, the music is so nice, I saw the cute lamp from your previous van again, Ruby is such a sweet dog, you don’t even notice that he is there! And most of all you are a lovely person❤ Thank you for sharing it with us all🌹
I just loved watching you make candles. I used to make them in my youth. I would take a quart or half gallon milk container. Put a regular sized tall candle in the center, then layer ice cubes all around the tall candle so that the candle is in the center of the ice. Melt your wax, and you can also use a drop or two of food coloring to color your wax. When the wax is melted, fill the carton with the melted wax. Let sit in a spot until the wax is completely cooled. Then tear the carton off your candle, while it's sittin in a bowl or over the sink as the cubes have melted. This makes the most beautiful candle to use as a centerpiece and it's so wonderful when you burn it because it has holes and patterns all over the candle so that when it burns, it makes a beautuful pattern. You can use a smaller carton also, as long as you can tear the carton off when the candle is set. Let the candle dry and you're ready to go. I used to put a little garland around the bottom of the candle for festive occasions. I just love your videos. Bless you in your journey. ❤🦋
I’m so thankful you popped into my feed. Just lovely, you. And your fabulous style. Feels like I’m back to living in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Now to sit back and binge on the life you and Ruby are creating. 🙏🏻 Wendy
Your uke playing makes me desire to pick up mine and really learn it. I own 2 and I purchased an expensive 1 to force myself to learn...yeah, that didn't work out. 🙃 Hey, your video is soooo relaxing. My life is so 😢🫣😬; watching you helps me to picture myself living in the quiet environment of nature. Thank you and Ms. Ruby too. 🐾🐾🐾👋🏼👍🏼🙏🏼
The candle making is a nice idea with recycled jars. 👏 I have a bag of wax to make candles. Don't ask me why I haven't actually started. Sometimes I overthink things. And you just quickly made some candles. 😅 The steak looked delicious in the salad. Ruby is so cute, she could smell the steak and came looking for some.😋 I hope that you have friends and family to visit to keep you company sometimes while you are grieving over the loss of your mom. Be kind and gentle on yourself hun, sending you and Ruby lots of love. 💕🦮🍓 The lights look cute. 🎸🎶🎵
The van home you built suits you. You have everything you need. It's nice that you found yourself and are living your best life with your pup. How many hours do you work each week to earn money that supports your life style?
Candle making segment: LOVE that pot!! 😍💖✨ And the jars! Ball brand had canning jars similar to those a while back, but I think they stopped manufacturing them because people complained that they were too hard to clean! But I loved them for DIY body butters, creams, etc.
If you can find them, go for the reusable silicon zipper bags. I have a bunch of those, and they're really useful. Thanks for letting us chill with you.
Good to see you again 😊Add some real butter to the skillet along with the olive oil next time you’re cooking steak. Adds tons of flavor and helps to get a beautiful color on the meat.
BeauTiful! Ruby is too adorable! Thank you for the virtual riding shotgun with you Rowan. PS: the ukulele never disappoints. See you on the next one. Be safe out there. 🙏❣️👍✌️
It looks like you are doing as well as can be expected as you move through your grief! You are finding your fun where you can get it ! You are very resilient!❤
TIP: WHILE MAKING your candles, wrap the excess wick around a pencil. Balance the pencil on the edges of the jar making sure the wick is in the center. This is how I learned to make candles.
Your videos bring me so much peace and joy. Love you Rowan and Ruby! Ruby was my beautiful German Shepherd Dog I had to put down a year ago.She was a gem and so is your Ruby! God bless you both. :)

Recommendations I've seen, including from Glad, is that the paper towel should be slightly damp, so that's not really necessary to dampen?
@@hsoderberg6505 , no, not at all. I think doing that will only limit the moisture it'll be able to absorb on its own.
I do this. It works great 👍🏼
I just add a dry paper towel and it helps our salad greens last longer!

If you like fish, any kind or salmon, that is really good on top of a salad as well. I add mandarin oranges And use poppyseed dressing it is wonderful
Stunning cookery pot candle DIY
I absolutely love your home and cooking tips.

That is one beautiful soup pot
Thank you!

Hi! I'm surprised your candles weren't strawberry scented. Hee hee. Very good about getting a Wish List together.

Day made! Greetings from CT, South Africa. I was looking forward to an upload ❤️
Thank you, enjoy!
Sometimes I mark the date on the container of a product . When it runs out I look to see how long took to use it up. Weird little fun thing to do.
