Give thanks to Sonny and the entire team for having me and sharing not only my music but the culture of Jamaica with the world.
Your music is awesome man and you seem like a great guy. :)
Jamacian culture is something people think they know about but really don't as much as they'd like to think. Thank you for bringing some of it to our homes!
Great music my man... Keep it up!
Great segment by Sonny but Black Hero you were a great Ambassador to Rastafari Culture and way of life. The Ital food looked amazing. Will check out your music too! Blessed love!
You did a great job representing!
This is how life should be , all natural and no stress, taking care of you’re community and family. These guys are truly living life to the fullest and I would love to be invited to live there. Yeah man
The best life! I wish I wasn’t so addicted to unnatural things. I think my life would be so much happier and simpler. Eat from the earth, no tv to distract me so I just enjoy my community! I need self discipline

As a Rasta, I give thanks for you showing we are more than just weed. So many stereotypes tend to smear us. 🙏🏿
Actually, when I hear about Rastafari I think about the vegetarian cuisine first and living in the mountains.

I would love to sit with them, eating a delicious meal and listen to the talks of life.

A lot of Indians are there. They mostly own jewellery and furniture stores.

@@janethough2798 those are the Indians that came there recently. There are more Indians who came here as indentured servants in the 1800s when slavery ended. Those are integrated and make up, along with other races, the entire Jamaican culture representing our motto, "out of many, one people".
I love the way Jamaicans talk its so friendly and nice
I guess you never heard one cursing?🤣🤣
@: B, you ever heard of BOMBOCLOT and RASSCLAT or PUSSY CLAT, just go up to the next Jamaican you meet and call them one or more of these words, they'll be your best friend.🤣

It takes an awful lot to get a Jamaican angry enough to cuss you out but if it happens be ready to record it because it will be the most beautiful cuss out you will ever hear 🤣😂
“Wait what is the point of having a rooster here then??!?!?” -sonny in utter confusion “ he part of the family” 11:26 I love that answer
Alarm clock in the country side. It's old tradition which goes back to Africa.
For a lot of Westerners, the idea of having chickens as pets is strange.
IMO, chickens can be pets and food. I have never owned a chicken and have zero intention to, but I could never eat a chicken I once considered to be a pet. It would need to be raised to be eaten. I would still want the chicken to have a happy life and die a humane death.
Eats bugs like roaches, centipedes, scorpions, caterpillars, slugs etc plus crows.
Organic pesticide and renewable alarm clock
I had that too , great answer too
Poor rooster don’t have a wifey hen to roost with keep him company and give him some lovin when he so desire 😂
The Rastas depriving the rooster of NATURAL LIFE 🤣
🇬🇭Ghana flag repping , much love from the motherland ,loved this episode everything was so organic, you can’t go wrong with Rastafarians.. much from the Ashanti Kingdom..🇬🇭❤️🇯🇲

This is pure decency! Respect to nature, animals and other people. Humans are no better than animals. In fact, we are pretty much the same animals. Evolved a bit, true.
Working in the tourism indusrty for years now and i never get tired of watching and hearing visitors rave about how fresh and well seasoned our food is.....sometime i'll hear we have the best food in the caribbean and that humbles my hear.....we appreciate the highlight🙌🏼🙌🏼👏👏👏
The food looks so nourishing and healthy! This is like the direct opposite of the typical American diet!

I really appreciate that Sonny takes the time to look at the culture ❤ it's so heartwarming
This was so respectful. Well done Sonny. Learned so much
One thing I like about sonny is the genuine respect and appreciation he has for every different culture he visit. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Irish Moss is a seaweed that was originally found near Ireland hence the name. The Irish consumed Irish moss during the famine of the 19th century in Ireland. The seaweed grows on rocks in Jamaica. Irish migrants to Jamaica brought the tradition of the Irish Moss. It is one of Jamaica’s most notorious drinks among men (and some women) who seek “vigor”.
Thanks for the info
Rich in iodine. Removes mucus.. Google it
Irish moss is used extensively in brewing beer too! It's a "fining" agent, which causes the proteins to clump together and drop out. It makes the beer more clear instead of cloudy.
"Out of many one people".
It hit the Black American community here in the States right before the pandemic came. Our problem was that most of the vendors were just hoping on a trend, and growing the seamoss in homemade farms, made of children’s blow-up pools. The fast grown, American stuff is devoid of all the nutrients that you would use the seamoss for in the first place
This is GREATNESS SONNY!!!! Absolute greatness! You not only captured the beautiful food, and culture of the amazing island of Jamaica. You also made a wonderful decision to highlight one of the religions! I've been watching for YEARS but this really touched my heart. Thank you for going above and beyond!
Bruh - you’re starting to cross into that rare bourdain territory of food culture and deeper connection here. Respect.
The chef is the vibe for this one... much love Jamaica... Much love from Nigeria
Love you Nigerians from Jamaica
What a beautiful place. Jamaica is so blessed.
Jamacia is one of the most amazing places on earth. This series makes me happy, Sonny and Team! This episode, seeing you with the Rastas, melted my heart.
I’m so excited to see my country, Jamaica, but especially my community, Bull Bay, on the Best Ever Food Show!!! Corn Shop is such a must stop on your culinary journey and ideally placed on the roadside anyone going to the east of the island can treat themselves. I’ve never been to the Rastafarian village but I love that Sonny got to experience it and now all of us see it too. Black Hero great Ambassador 🇯🇲🇯🇲
blessings mama, fun fact I suggested the corn shop cause I love it so much there had to show the world this little slice of heaven.
That was so interesting. I used to live in Jamaica, love the people and the land but, although seeing Rastas regularly in the street I knew nothing about the culture or religion. Your video was entertaining and very informative, thank you.
I love it when they say" ya man" sounds so chill and relaxing
It is not offensive and I'm also Jamaican 🇯🇲 , we appreciate the comment Khrawbok

Their way of life is unique and nutritious. They never let their culture be stained by other cultures. A well-taken cared culture, a must respectable.
“The point of having the rooster is that he’s part of the family”. This is so absolutely wholesome

Finally you have experienced my country 🇯🇲🇯🇲
This episode is so great. I was lucky enough to travel to Jamaica but only stopped in. Found some local rastafari’s to hang out with. It was so wild. They parted these huge banana leaves and had a whole stoop to chill on. Didn’t get to eat but we did get to imbibe a bit 💨🌳. A random rooster was walking around. One of my best memories.
Come visit me in Jamaica
07:10 that Freaking transition Gets me. I'm a Filipino and I Really Love Reggae the rastafarian Practices. Jah rastafari! 🇵🇭❤️🇯🇲
Some of the worlds best food and culture comes from Jamaica. Truly amazing place and people.
Well done Black Hero, Represented great so proud of my country with its awesome culture
I think I need to move to Jamaica the food the vibes the people it’s what I’ve always wanted. One love
I used to get Ital food from a Rastafarian sistren who sold to-go boxes in front of a Rasta church. It was seriously the most delicious, nutritious and cheap vegetarian food I've ever had. I miss you Lady Joseph!
It's always good to see my country anywhere!! Yeah man we always a represent born and raised and still living here and wouldnt trade it ❤🇯🇲🇯🇲
Absolutely loved the concept of the levels of Rastafarian food. More and more people are realizing the health benefits of going meat free. ive been a vegetarian all my life, moving towards becoming a vegan (just have to quit yogurt) and trying to fast atleast 1 day a week. I try not to eat anything solid at all. just fluids which is mainly 5-6 glasses of hot water, some buttermilk, some juice or some fruits or raw veggies like cucumber, tomatoes and carrots. Im trying to take this fasting to the next level by eating 1 solid food just once a day. Its amazing how easily you can get rid of so many life style diseases by just changing your diet. Even my vision improved naturally in the last 6 months time. no headaches, no body aches, no muffin top belly, no lethargy. im 47 but dont look a day over 35. The best alternative to gluten food is millets. either whole or using millet flour to make flat breads, use in soups. MIllets are a power house of nutrients compared to wheat flour or rice.
Good for you. Vegan is a lifestyle. Many health benefits. Vegan 3 1/2 yrs now. Hard but worth it!
@@kirkm9750 true.
Doesn't matter if you are vegan or carnivore. For every diet there are people that thrive on it. The most important thing is to cut out junk like sugar and processed foods. Fasting is great, you should aim for longer times without any food. It gets easy with pratice.
@@nesciusplayground that is true. Sugars are the worst. definitely trying to fast atleast 1 day a week to begin with.
You tried vegan yogurts? Not sure where you're from but in most parts of USA vegan yogurts are easy to find now. Is millet any better or worse than quinoa? I cook it sometimes but don't really know what to do with it. Use it the way i use quinoa. intersting idea w the millet flour
This was awesome. I dig the Jamaican accents and the Rastafarian knowledge. Love the way patois sounds and the Rastafarian portion was super humbling .
LOL no body spoke Patois in the video. They were mostly speaking a mostly English with a heavy Jamaican accent. Jamaican Patois is almost not understandable to someone who does not
understand it.
Excellent video! Thank you for respecting our traditions here🤗 A lot of traditional Rastafari don't cook with salt. We call it 'ital food'. In special cases we add salt to food when we cater to outsiders so the food isn't too bland😅
Sonny, you're bringing the world together one meal at a time. I've learned so much from this channel. Salute to the BEFR crew!

By far my favorite episode. Love it!
Sonny is great at showcasing the best of different cultures in curious and respectful way. Very tasteful! I always get a kick out of his pronunciations. As a Bahamian living in Jamaica, I really enjoyed this and the visit to the Bahamas - Very well done!!!
The Rastafarian's whole vibe is so positive and Zen, says a lot about the religion and way of life. One day I will go there. thank you
Such a respectful interview -- We all need more Jamaican Energy in our Lives -- Thank you!!
11:26 Natural alarm clock, muuunnn.. As a Muslim, asides from the marijuana, I can really dig the Rastafarian diet. Everything was plant based, fish, all natural and boiled with little to no oil and fat, so healthy.

Wow... They are SOOooo healthy! That diet is my dream diet! I can only hope to ever get to the spiritual level a diet like that must give you.. Wow. In our developed countries, organic and tree ripened stuff is non existant. I feel they must feel fresh and powerful all the time
Grew up in the country side of Jamaica, i was never bored and RARELY sick. There was nothing that I couldn't do.
The entire Jamaican diet is predicated on nature. It is recent that they got introduced to McDonald's, Wendy's, KFC, and many other imported artificial flavorings and foods.😕
This was like a documentary within itself. Thank you for this. My beautiful country 🥰🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲

I ain't no Jamaican but one thing for sure, there ain't no accent cooler and relaxed as the Jamaican Accent. It just makes you feel at peace when you hear the Rastafarian speaking Jamaican English.
Before the holiday break my eleven year old was given a school project about world religions. She chose Rastafarianism because it came from the land of her parents. Her mother and I were almost in tears because we were so proud. It is due tomorrow 1/7 on Rasta Christmas Day. I can smell the A+ already. She is rehearsing her presentation and slide show right now!
