@houseofhas9355 My kid doesn't play games in stores with me. He gets the stare of death, knowing what comes next if it continues. But I'm Gen X, a crack here and there doesn't hurt. My sister in law was one of sit down and talk type. My nephew almost dropped out of school and broke into my brother's gun safe a few times. She gave him a 5-minute timeout after I found him with a 10" knife he found in the safe. She legitimately broke down and gave him what he wanted as punishment.

People used to have productive ways of getting the anger out.
Examples included playing a musical instrument, playing sport, exercising, making something or doing gardening.

Once when my baby cried for hours straight. Teething, high fever, rash, and had been to emergency the night before because we did not know what to do. Two months old and had no idea she was teething until they told us. New parents.
I put her into her crib the following morning, hours after my husband left for work, still crying, and spent 5 minutes beating up my mattress. Called it a bunch of names as well.
I went and picked her up , much calmer. Ready to be a mother again.
It helped a lot. I needed to get the frustration out.

This trend is not even knew. It was created back in the 70’s by a famous male psychiatrist who talked about letting all the anger out instead of keeping it in. Instead of being in the woods, it was usually just hitting a pillow and screaming, and both men and women patients did this with the supervision of a psychiatrist.

We have no community in this country. People are isolated and feel alone. Too much social media and very little actual interaction with people in front of you. That's why people, both men and women, are very interested in this. Men need other men and women need other women. Together we all need to form physical communities to engage in and interact with. We are social animals.

Anger is a very powerful emotion, it can either destroy your life or can improve it. Use the motivation you gain from anger (truly what anger is, heightened motivation to act out) use it to build something good, instead of let it ruin you. Almost everything in life can be used for both good and bad, you just need to find the right balance to use anger for good

Sorry... but I'm no one's "victim" and subjecting myself to humiliation by a lack of self control and doing stupid crap like "raging" is not going to provide me with either relief or empowerment. However, actually responding with intelligence and communicating instead of "grunting" like an ape and pounding my chest and a stick on the ground might ADVANCE the human race, rather than resort to "devolving" it! I disagree that people need to scream and "rage"...rather, I think humanity has lost their dignity and ability to become MORE than the sum of their fears! I speak that as a woman who had suffered starvation, beatings, rape, molestation and vast abuses, but has Risen ABOVE those sufferings to have an amazing life with FIVE respectable and awesome grown offspring , 12 grandchildren, a vibrant and successful career, a beautiful marriage, a thriving ministry... and NEVER have a used the "victim" card...not once. I AM stronger than ALL my mishappenings, and "raging" about it would not have gotten me HERE... it would have gotten me victimhood.

That's great for you! But you know not everyone is the same. Some people can never go through what you have and come out of it like nothing happened. You can't blame them for how they want to react to their trauma. How they decide to overcome it is their choice. I'm not in support of this nonsense rage retreat though. People have the right to be angry at the world. Finding a way to deal with it is important and if it's raging in the woods or whatever then so be it. Stop downgrading people just because you have "RISEN ABOVE" your sufferings. Being kind costs nothing.

@janetakintula7323 ummm...I was not "unkind" and I don't "blame" others for how they choose to deal with their issues. I KNOW everyone isn't capable of coming through what I have and overcome, but this idiotic "raging" doesn't accomplish anything but diminish the human race. THAT was my point... and everyone else understood that...except you.

There was a study done that showed "releasing" rage by destroying things and hitting things actually builds more rage. This happens to men and women. They basically had somebody write an essay that was completely counter to whatever points the subject had, but only written as an incredibly rude troll, basically. They then had the subject sit wait for a bit with nothing to do or let them into a rage room to smash stuff. They then gave the subject a choice of punishing the person with electric shock. They had to give a shock, but they got the choice of the intensity. The subjects ended up punishing the guy worse if they went into the rage room.

It’s scientifically proven, that screaming and acting out your anger makes your anger and aggression actually worse.
There was a test with two different test groups. Both groups had to take exams and failed without it being their fault. They got angry. One group had a pillow to scream into and other things to let out their anger. The other group didn’t have that opportunity.
Turned out the first group felt worse, was more aggressive afterwards and dealt with following failures and disappointments worse.

You've honestly opened up something I've never really understood about my health. I used to go out back of my house and break sticks when school pissed me off but I've stopped since I became a working adult because I felt it was childish or inappropriate. Little did I know it's probably part of the reason I have back and neck problems and my teeth are soft and being grinded away every day from all the clenching I do. I'm always tired (not for a lack of working 60 hours a week) and I tend to be irritable. I need a rage room ASAP

Both the US and Canada were founded as Christian nations and so I find it odd that we who profess to be Christians go to psychiatrists and therapists to help us figure out what these problems are and how to fix them when we should be going to our pastors. How did the pagans convince the Christians that psychiatrists and therapists are better equipped to handle these problems than our Pastors are or that our Pastors should be better equipped than the pagan/atheistic alternative.

you don't need to spend a lot of money, travel any where, or to scream to let out anger. When I was a teenager I had a LOT of anger issues. At one point there was a tree that had died and the stump was left behind, I didn't have an axe or a chainsaw but I did have a sledgehammer. Anger managed and tree stump removed two birds one stone.

I spent the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of college working at a boy scout camp in Holcomb Valley, CA. I was hundreds of miles from home and could not leave. It was arduous labor for 18-19 hours a day, 7 days a week. They took “room and board” out of our meager wages and when it was all said and done, I only made about $1/hour.
The reason why I’m telling you this is because the other girls who worked in the kitchen with me would take turns going into the massive walk-in freezer to scream our heads off to let off some steam.
Very cathartic, 10/10 would recommend but don’t EVER work for the Boy Scams of America.

    @michaelaston7240 24 дні тому

I agree that there is indeed a problem today with people, both men and women, not managing their rage. The problem with a solution like this is that it isn't a healthy and sustainable way for a person to manage said rage. If you feel like these individuals appear to you need to find a better way to manage your day to day stress, anger, and frustration. You need a good friend group where you can talk about or deal with problems like this. When I was younger my friends and I would get together and train in martial arts, a bit of healthy violence can do so much. Meditation and prayer are also essential skills (I prefer both, but if you aren't religious just do meditation). Exercise is also essential, the healthy stress of exercise both helps build your body (make you more fit), but it also releases emotional stress as your mind and body exert themselves on the exercise.
If you find yourself struggling to contain your rage and frustrations on a regular basis, see a therapist. Taking care of your mental health is every bit as important as your physical health and there is nothing wrong with seeing a therapist. While a retreat like this might be okay for some, I feel that in general if you're feeling the need to participate in something like this, you aren't handling your daily stress effectively, and letting it build until you need to go on a retreat like this is a really bad idea. Negative stress is one of the most damaging forces your mind and body go through. Find a way to manage it daily.
Regarding Therapists: it is worth noting that you should shop around for a therapist, don't just read their bio and start going to them. You should schedule a single get-to-know-you session, a lot of times these won't be covered by insurance (usually), but it's essential to have that first meeting be about their approach and experience. I've known therapists that get frustrated when you ask questions; this is, after all, their job, and they have the experience. If this is the case, run the other direction! Their help will be what they want and need, not what you want and need! (aside: this is even more true when selecting a therapist for you children; they can't tell you what happens in those sessions. So you need to vet them VERY carefully!)

I felt so sorry for that veteran whose wife passed away. He has my prayers. When I retired, for a while I was feeling quite alone and drifting, as if my remaining time on this earth had no real purpose. Then, on a whim, I started to volunteer at a food pantry, helping to feed poor people. Soon, everything came into focus. Instead of screaming like a deranged hyena in a forest, perhaps helping others would make things better in one's own life.

Many times as a young adult, I would go to the gym and work out my aggression or just ride my bike until I was too tired to ride any more. I never expected my childhood behaviors would manifest themselves into adulthood. That, to me, is wild.
