Parsnip and Apple Soup with a Parmesan Chive Foam - A Princess Diana Favorite

- I made this delicious soup from my cookbook Eating Royally (link below) for Princess Diana about once a week. This was one of her favorites and she enjoyed it with a bowl of salad for lunch.
She would come into the kitchen at lunchtime, pull up a chair and eat at the kitchen table. I can see why this was one of her favorites. It's soothing and comforting and absolutely delicious (and easy to make too)

I crack up every time I hear "Winston, Winston, bring back that leg of lamb!" 😅😅😅
The way he talks about the Royal Family just like we talk about some memories with old friends always knock me off my feet.
Aww that is so sweet of Princess Diana would talk to you and just have safe place to someone to talk to and trust Which was you 💜🌷💜
Nothing brightens my day more then a Darren McGrady video!
Hope you’re doing well Darren!
Love his videos!
Diana would have made a beautiful Queen.
Dear Sir, I would first like to say how much I love and appreciate your videos.
I had the privilege of hosting a gourmet dinner for 6 guests yesterday and prepared your parsnip and apple soup. It was PHENOMINAL, my guests could not believe their tastebuds and they could not stop raving about it.
Thank you so much and I look forward to future videos.
Cheers!
That soup absolutely looks so delicious ❤
Mr. Darren! You are wonderful man, with kind heart and beaming smile ! Thank you very much dear Sir!
Wow that's a recipe I need to try. My mother loved parsnips & apples. 🕊❤️🍀
Great watching and listening to Darren. Particularly, hearing about our favourite 'Queen' of our Hearts 💕 Princess/Queen Diana 😊😅
Diana - princess of the World! Best of the Best!
Your memories of Princess Di are precious....=))
You’re so adorable Darren, it’s no wonder Diana adored you.

Beautiful soup! I love your recipes and your personality is so gorgeous. You are JOYOUS! What a lovely man you are! ❤ And we LOVE hearing about Princess Diana! We love her always! Her and the Royal family. Keep the good memories coming! And the recipes! 💕
Oh, YUM, YUM, YUM!
That soup looks lovely! Thank you Chef Darren for bringing up some good memories about Princess Diana. She seems to be like a person whom you can chat easily about what happens to you in a day. 😊

I was always wondering what the royals eat and now thanks to your videos I am learning more! I miss Lady Di so much.
I love parsnip and apple soup. Got the recipe from a lady in the highlands years ago. She did not give it up easily lol xxx
That sounds wonderful. Just like Diana.
I'll be trying this tonight as I have parsnips in the fridge. Thank you, as always it's a pleasure to watch your knife, peeler and prep skills.
Great for lunch during Lent on Fridays. Love you Darren and all your royal British food. John T.
I, too, love parsnips. Though a lot people here in the US have never even eaten them.
U can tell Princess Diana lives in his Heart. That's immortality people. Best cooking channel on youtube.
I can't wait to make this! It looks so easy and delicious!
Your recipes are fantastic. You can level them all up by cooking them seasonally and using the very best ingredients you can, OR you can cook them cheaply as easy, fuss-free everyday dinners. Your consideration of the versatility and practical aspects of menu building has been noted. I suspect it's such an underrated and overlooked aspect of your professional character here on UA-cam but the way you create your dishes and edit your online offerings definitely set you apart. It's all 'behind the scenes' stuff going on in a working chef's brain and therefore, integrated into your personality and life experience-- of which you'd fill volumes. Thank you so much for deciding to start a channel. I can't wait to cook this soup in particular, parmesan cream and all. 😋
Amazing ingredients...This old Chicago lady is on the for our Easter..whiff me luck dear sir...
Thank you for sharing a little piece of Princess Diana with us!! 💜 Her legacy will continue to live on forever 💜
Amazing!!! Thank you very much for sharing this wonderful soup ❤
I make the best parsnip and apple soup, you need to fry the veg off for a good 10 to 15 mins to get some colour, it always makes it great
I LOVE ❤️ PARSNIPS! Combining it with apples 🍏 sounds amazing! Parsnips are way under utilized
Totally agree. Parsnip is under utilised and under estimated.
I never eaten parsnips but I would love to try your soup, and thank you for sharing another lovely story about your days with the royal family, especially princessvDiana, the way you speak about her feels like she was happy to chat with someone who was like a close friend to her even you know you an employee.
I hadn’t tried them until a few years back and they are a lovely and unique ingredient. They are super bright and zesty tasting. They are also great roasted with some EVOO, then topped with fresh dill, flakey salt and pepper. 💖🙏🕊
Absolutely gorgeous with roast chicken or any roasted joint
I love parsnips so much. I can’t wait to try this.
Looking nice soup 🍲
Thank you Chef !! I'm going to cook this for my Princess! ❤
You are so adorable, and you give off calm, safe, big brother vibes. It’s no surprise that Diana trusted you and felt safe with you. You would make a fabulous doctor or nurse. Oh, and if i serve this for Passover seder instead of matzoh ball soup, do you think my family will send me into exile? Happy🐣Easter, Ramadan🕋Mubarak, Chag Pesach🦗Sameach to those celebrating 🕊
Just made this soup...
It is the second recipe I have made of yours.
I have to say it was very nice and I will definitely be making this again.
I am yet to try the stuffed pepper though I grew up with my family making a very similar version so I can imagine it is just as good 👌🌹
So simple. So elegant. Thank you Darren.
Oh wow I have never heard of such a soup!
I really like you! Your videos bring me a amazing amount of joy.
It sounds like Queen Diana really appreciated your cooking and delicious 😋 recipes. Plus being in the company of and interacting with 'ordinary' down to earth, friendly and warm hearted people 😅😊👌 👍
She wasn't Queen Diana, she was Diana Princess of Wales
Not gonna lie, the title made me raise a brow - thats a combination i never thought possible.
Might try it for curiosity sake for sure!

YES!
I love parsnips, and was hoping to find a new way to use them….thank you, can’t wait to try this
Parsnip is so under rated. So hard to find in stores. A must and any soup especially a basic chicken soup.
That was fun!
M
I can't wait to make this! I'm also going to make some parmesan cream to go with our pureed broccoli soup tonight.
looks delicious!
👍 Been wondering how you've been doing. Glad all is well.
My mom used to add parsnips to side dishes, sometimes to carrots (coarsely mashed, lots of butter, salt, pepper: so good) or the same to rutabegas.
This is an interesting recipe. I love soups like this in lieu of a heavy meal sometimes on a cold afternoon or in the evening. Blessed Passover and Happy Easter-Resurrection Sunday Darren!
I will try this soup. I love parsnips and apples. Not had them together
looks yummy
Looks specracular! Would love to taste this :)
it would be really helpful with the quantities in the description. This soup looks great and I want to prepare it.
