Love his humility, self-deprecating (I'm British, and we love that after all) manner. Good for him for making a living not having to put that tie on, and go to work. He's given millions joy with the results.
Saw George Thorogood and the Destroyers live in Dublin in 2004 and what a lasting memory. Absolutely brilliant performer and he does a mean version of Dust My Broom it has to be said!!
George, maybe we don't even like McCartney or them other fluffy characters. Maybe we like the blues. And George T. This is where we come from. This is home. Blues rock for ever.
SAYS HE NEEDS SLIDE TO COVER HIS SHORTFALLS . Blimey. That little finger is your heartbeat man. Take that away and your gone. Much respect from the UK . LOVE SLIDE, LOVE BLUES, LOVE YOUR CONTRIBUTION.
I have the exact same guitar. ES 125 TCD. My father bought it for my much older brother in about 1963. In pristine condition. I play it weekly at an old folks jam.
April 9th House of blues I enjoyed your concert very much a friend of mine knows all of you I was privileged to meet Jeff and other guys in the band you had already left.all of the other guys in the band was very nice and I just enjoyed your show very much. Lights camera action
I got the priviledge of vip passes and meet and greet with Him at the Strand in Prov, Ri -he is the only musician that I ve met in person, talked to, had a picture taken with him and an autograph , plus was front stage by taking pictures at his show -great show and great guitarist !!!!!!!
Never Apologize! John Wayne said that once. Especially when you have nothing to Apologize for. I saw Thorogood live outside at a summer festival. He had a Bandanna on his head and put on a blazing Rock n Roll show!🔥 He’s a great guitar 🎸 player and Rocker!👏🏻🎸😎
I heard GT when I was about 14 and then in my late teens I was obsessed with him and his sound, I would carry a GT and the Delaware Destroyers tape around with me to parties to put people in a drinking mood. Then I bought my first guitar and still love the slide at 55 thanks to this man
Im sure i can say this speaking for all musician guitarist's worldwide. Those belly aching sour asses who make disparaging remarks about Brother George's mega hits or style, they are among that group of rundowners who never had a song in the top 500, probably never made radio waves! Haters gonna hate, from their pulpit of nothing and no where! George Thorogood is an absolute living legend, a true piece of Americana! An original rocker from later generation but instilled with the Pioneers and Innovators of Rhythm and Blues! His raw finger picking recipe delivers a jolt of authentic nostalgia, George blesses us with all those flavors and styles that the very first blues pickers gave birth too!! He's Real, Raw, Ripping, and Revolutionary and he has spanned many decades and generations, Pure Thorogood Style and That Unique Thorogood Sound thats unmistakable!! George Thorogood is a Real Deal Living Legend that exudes so many of the Original Blues Pickers feel and magic, covering generations and still going!! Still Bad!! Still Killing It!! Still The Legend! Still Thorogood!! Pay homage to greatness you lowly dogs!! Love You George, youve inspired literally millions of us "Geetar Pickers" across the globe!
Some serious delta slide at the end... sounds like a big block chevy rumbling Nice! You either get this or you don't. It's about tone, feeling and pure guts.... In today's world with EMG synthetic pickups and being judged on how fast you shred... a lot of younger people just don't get this music. This was the original American bad ass music!
Paul Calugaru Cool comment! Just like with harmonica now, its all about speed and tricks. I have been playing harmonica for over 35 yrs and i prefer playing it slower and with soul.
I was blessed to see George and the destroyers is London years ago fu*king amazing. All the best blues players use the thumb plucker, Johnny Winter does too amazing I love the blues
wowville lord ave mercy if your that way inclned George I have several of ur albums u r the best blues slide plyer of modern times diolch yn fawr ta 4 the tunes nos da
1st Saw George mid 80ish at a Downtown theater Kansas city. Myself and 2 buds were the only Okies standing up and hootin. We were like 5row and i turned to look around cause none else were standing. George would have to remember cause i was dumbfounded but he played and we party on to B&B.
Dig brother. I saw George Thorogood at Dingwalls Camden Lock in the early 80’s, introduced onstage by John Peel. Epic performance! I am not a bad guitar player, but I still can’t play slide…
We've seen McCartney and we seen You! and we sure like the way you play the hell out of that guitar!!!! Lonesome George, Keep Picking!!! When are you going to come back to Memphis?
The first time I heard "One Bbourbon, One Scotch, and One Beer" on the radio(WNEW in NY ) I went right out and bought his first LP. I played the shit out of that record!(god, that was in 1977) I wish I had the cassette of the concert i recorded off the radio back then(man he fuckin' killed the audience at "The Bottom Line" nightclub in NY) Saw him in 1982(?) when he did his marathon 50 gigs in 50 days tour. George is the undisputed king of the slide guitar
There comes a time when all the cosmic tumblers have clicked into place - and the universe opens itself up for a few seconds to show you what's possible - Ray Kinsella in "Field of Dreams". That's what happened when GT was matched up with the Gibson 125, and what happens when he performs and we have the opportunity to listen to this master.
No, you don't wanna be 6' 3". I'm 6' 3" and believe me its no fun. I have a hard time finding clothes sometimes and I've got the biggest, ugliest feet on this planet. I inherited them from my mother. I wear a size 15EEE shoe and I have to get shoes online. There are people who have bigger feet than mine. Anyway, I've heard your playin' and you're good.....real good. Good video George.
Very unique, yet you pulled the tone out of your piece like I'm sure very few can , if that is your real name "good", is definitely an understatement... .
I think George is up there with the blues greats. Not for bad to the bone, but that first album..a lot of that he is in standard tuning eg, one bourbon is really hard to play fingerpicking, no slide there.. As he got older and the band got bigger his stopped improving. The way he plays those old songs from the 70s are the real deal. He is humble, but in reality he is the humbler..every time i see footage of him with other guitarists he blows them away. For my money, GT is better than Ry..Ry is over rated and not very entertaining. Who knows Ry Cooder these days? young guys don’t know Ry. George is playing to packed houses around the world..well he will be again later in the year post covid. I look forward to seeing him again here in Australia next year
I have no idea why this man isn’t more popular and appreciated
Because he was "born to be bad".
@@Jonseyfun To the bone.
because he’s a horrible slide player . he even admits as such
Este tío es muy bueno: un blanco que canta blues o RIT&blues. Ya lo hicieron Janis Joplin, Doors, Canned Heat, Rolling Stones etc.. ❤️
Because he don't use a mask.
The most humble and respectful guitarist in the business, gives credit to everyone except himself for his achievements, pure integrity
Love his humility, self-deprecating (I'm British, and we love that after all) manner. Good for him for making a living not having to put that tie on, and go to work. He's given millions joy with the results.
George is the man! I'm in my mid 70's and love his music. Seen him 3 times and can't wait until he tours again!
I've seen George and The Destroyers numerous times......every concert was AWESOME !!! Keep on Rockin' George !!!! God Bless Ya Brother !!!
Saw George Thorogood and the Destroyers live in Dublin in 2004 and what a lasting memory. Absolutely brilliant performer and he does a mean version of Dust My Broom it has to be said!!
George, good sir, don’t apologize. You are on my top ten list of all-time guitarists
"I AIN'T JIVIN, LOTTA CATS SAY THAT"
love the way George speaks lol
I've seen George live twice now in Brisbane Australia. Two awesome shows. Absolutely rocked the house down.
love his sound and style, man he can play.
Thorogood got a cheesy rep for his hits, but he's a True down to his core! Breakin; out an ole' Elmore James tune here... I sure love it!
back to Robert Johnson
Yup, learned from Robert Jnr Lockwood i believe.
The man is all about respecting the fathers of the blues favorite child......rocknroll lonesome George
Robert Johnson tune, never never disrespect the King of the Delta...
@@spwicks1980 Nope..Robert Johnson tune..Lockwood was RJ's step son..ua-cam.com/video/Z0JMmr00G3Q/v-deo.html
I love this guy! He does what he does and I love it. Cold, tired and hungry....
Highly articulate and intelligent dude and humble
Love his words just brutely honest tells it like it is and I like that
Real blues...thank brother....great!
George, maybe we don't even like McCartney or them other fluffy characters. Maybe we like the blues. And George T. This is where we come from. This is home. Blues rock for ever.

One if not the best electric slide guitarist of all time..
I have the exact same guitar. ES 125 TCD. My father bought it for my much older brother in about 1963. In pristine condition. I play it weekly at an old folks jam.

I saw him open for the Rolling stones. He completely upstaged them. What a fantastic show.
Saw him live . Great show .
Me too. He sure rocked the joint!

My friend saw George and Buddy Guy back to back. Needless to say, I'm envious
I’ll say back in the 80’s we all listened to this cat. For a couple of years he was huge along REO, Journey and the like.

THIS was great!! enjoyed the interview..and especially Dust My Broom...."THIS IS WHAT I DO!"
We love you georgie boy could listen to him play all day.
I've learned a lot just by listening to this guy speak, never mind play.
Love to see a guy doing what he loves and not making excuses or trying to be anything else
Never Apologize! John Wayne said that once. Especially when you have nothing to Apologize for.

He’s a great guitar 🎸 player and Rocker!👏🏻🎸😎
Cant beat it when it comes to slide guitar when George plays it o yea ✌️😎🎸🎶
I've loved Lonesome George's style for more years than I can remember,I'm glad he's still going so many of my heroes are gone now
Thanks for this!!!
It's hard to find interviews/music videos of him from the 90s
What a modest Gentleman!

I saw you in Niagara Falls..NY..had a damn good time..you just keep on keeping on..
George is awesome. I always thought his style of play was very much like Hound Dog Taylor.
I love ur style george!
beautiful, summoning of the vocal origins.
George is so humble and likeable.
3:56 if you're in a hurry.
George's red guitar has the baddest sound! Wish he still used it on tour!!!

George brings it. Great charisma in his sound. "Josephine"... "Madison Blues" ..

Elmore y Robert Johnson te están escuchando 😎 y creo, contentos y agradecidos ❤️.Long live of the blues , gron BCN
I like his music, it is blues-ish, but I didn't realize until now he's seriously into blues!
Lonesome George ❤
What a humble guy
he was actually voted by his high school class as the "most likely not to succeed" ... however, he laughed all the way to the bank on them !!!
But I bet the class president has a haircut and a real job. :D
I'm wondering whether Elmore James would have liked George's guitar.

Nobody what you think of George, he is #1 in "confidence" .. btw, speaking of Ry, who is better at slide, George or Roy Rogers? 😃

I bought this exact year/make/model guitar at an estate sale a month ago for US $650. I have no idea how to play it. I'm wondering what to do with it.
Anonymous sell it to me 😂
Get a slide, tune to open D, strum away!
This is fucking brilliant

This guy can play wow
What else is there to say? George T. is awesome.
He gave a punk touch to the blues
The slide came for Elmore James king of slide back in the 30s.Tammy Memphis Tennessee home of the blue's.

did he use the fender princeton on this?
Oh yes.
What guitar is that

"It's not a gimmick if you can do it well."
Well done George, you the white Chuck Berry
BBBBBBAD TO THE BONE!
I'd rather listen to George playing slide guitar than Paul McCartney singing "Yesterday" any day.
E major too
The MOST NORMAL rocker out there.
