Well, for what you understand or what nobody knows about trains, what locomotive was inspiration of the Polar Express? Well, the locomotive is based on and inspired by the Pere Marquette class N-1 Berkshire Type 2-8-4 #1225, which was built on October, 5th, 1941 by the Lima Locomotive Works company in Ohio. Also the locomotive can be found in Owosso, Michigan in the United States. Fun fact: 1225 is not the only one of its class that survived after the Dieselization on American railroads, but there is another locomotive like 1225 and it's 1223 with the same class. 1223 are from the other survivors after the Dieselization during the finale in the Steam Age, is preserved in Grand Haven, Michigan, but unfortunately the locomotive was vandalized in February 2020. Edit: Sorry I edited the comment because I think I made a mistake in talking about the locomotive.

I never heard that part, it's so gorgeous!

There is just something beautiful about the music at 7:59 to the end.
It gives me the feeling of “the journey is over”. You go Alan Silvestri!
