I think they tried to make a “fear of missing out on an adventure” or “being up for an adventure regardless of its mystery” kind of point with that line. Nice sentiment but a bit weirdly stated LOL
3:36 is so emotional. The entire Journey has changed the young boy forever. However, after losing a gift from a person he doubted existed really makes you feel for the child.
4:44 I love this part. It's where Billy arrives home and sees that his house is fully decorated and that there are even presents for him. And I think this is one of the most beautiful if not the most beautiful moment in this movie😍🥲. And adittionally with the theme from "When Christmas comes to Town" its even more beautiful because in this song he sings "all the things i've heard about but never really seen" and now he sees these things he has heard about
8:04 : When the magical journey comes to an end... so sad and comforting at the same time. Something that you will undoubtedly appreciate and value for the rest of your life. This is how I feel when I get to that final scene, as if I had partly lived that journey
I understand what everyone’s saying about the other parts of the video being more than a little chilling and very beautiful, but can we all agree that 8:04 is just… haunting. It’s just so sad, so great, it has such a feeling of someone you’ll never see again.
Sounds like when you hit 19 years old, and all your childhood slowly disappeared once you become an Adult and now you are wondering how to live alone without any help.
bro this hit so hard man I’m 17 turning 18 this year it’s my last year as a kid I’ve watched polar express with my family every Christmas and every year just doesn’t feel the same at all from when I was a kid I’m not ready to grow up man
@@drakevan7408I feel you buddy. It hits super hard every year. I’m almost 22 and from around 17 and on I grew more sad watching old childhood movies and playing old games, hearing this music, seeing characters I love, it makes me sad I’ll never be able to go back. The Spirit/hobo himself always made me think of my grandpa who just passed away from cancer this august and he was more of a father than my true father. Losing him was super painful and watching this movie a few days ago for tradition made me sadder than ever that he’s gone. Only more will I lose people I love and it may get harder and harder to revisit the past. But another side provides relief and happy remembrance… God speed buddy, we need it
To this very day, I am still just beyond amazed that they made us feel this sad over someone losing a bell. Usually we feel this sad when a character dies.
I absolutely adore this film. Not generally a fan of Christmas films but this, violent night and the snowman/father Christmas are the exceptions. I used to like the film because of the hot chocolate and cool visuals such as the scene on the lake but now i fully understand the message of the film and appreciate what it says as someone who's nearly an adult and has become nostalgic for memories that happened over 6 years ago at this point as i miss the excitement and joy i always felt at Christmas and the build up. Now i appreciate how much effort my parents and siblings put into making it as magical as it was but it has definitely lost the charm it had and serves as good nostalgia but one tradition remains and that is putting this film on while putting the tree up on the first Sunday of December which is a tradition i intend to keep. I miss being young this film makes me feel like a 9 year old who woke up at two in the morning and sat by his windosil, covered it with his curtains so he didn't wake his older brother with the light and emptied his stocking before going back to bed around 4 only to be up at 7 waiting for his family

3:11 I am so glad they had this theme and reprised it perfectly here. This movie is so heartwarming, but it's partially because there's this aspect of hauntedness and melancholia, something (almost) lost, and with the Hobo/Seeing is Believing scene, something so utterly mysterious and unknowable about this story and Life itself, that makes it work. No matter how many times I've seen this movie, this scene never fails to feel utterly devastating especially when the orchestra comes in at 3:37.
