    Preview of the EFNote Pro electronic drum kit at the 2023 NAMM show.
    Since 2018, the engineers at EFNOTE have pursued a different approach to developing electronic drums, after feeling the limits of working for a leading Japanese musical instrument manufacturer. Their new path allowed them to escape the constraints of cost and mass production, pushing the edge in order to recreate acoustic realism. Knowing there is no instrument that will please everyone, EFNOTE makes instruments to be remembered and thoroughly enjoyed by those who choose them.

    Great presentation here. This is truly a wonderful kit, though I have to admit this is far beyond my aspirations. However, if I were a pro drummer (or even just a frequent stage drummer) I would definitely want to have one of these. A drummer with this kit on stage will never get fired from the band! 😊

    Just ordered. Bummer about the ambience tho, as a p16 in ear user having a little reverb on the drum sub group would be awesome. I get around this on my ad5 by summing the headphone send thru a boss reverb pedal, then send to the board and use that send for the in-ears. For some reason the MIDAS M32 effects inserts don't to a great job for this. Seems like a small gripe, but it would have been a great feature.

  • @toysoldiernostalgia

    Taking out the reverb and ambiance is fine for a live kit but if you also want to use it for practicing for those live gigs some effects would have been great.

      also hi-resolution MIDI, sample WAV import, kit customization, internal recording, 4 track bcking track playback, ambience, reverb, transient and compression tools, front panel mixer controls, touch responsive triggers, positional awareness, interval sensing etc etc

    • @listener84
      @listener84 Рік тому +1

      @@onomatopoeidia The PRO system has 16CH USB MIDI as well as 12CH USB audio and compression per bus, 12 CH balanced XLR outs, 3 zones and 360° choke and playing on all crashes, bell zone on all hats, and leaves mixing (including ambience) front of house to the FOH engineer. But the tools of customizing, tuning, muffling, layering, compression, global spectral panning are all onboard. Bus and main monitoring. Like they said, a tool box instead of a toy box. The samples are another far-off level from Roland, but if you want to run an spdsx pro, run it through the module and routing it out XLR straight to the house.

    At 1:00 "What they did instead was they invested into recording the heck out of these drums." At 2:55 "On and on they've expanded the library exponentially." That implies an all-new sound library. That sounds good. Mike, can you comment on whether it has more sample layers and round-robins per instrument. It does seem so.

    Question: will the module be rolled out to the non pro models (that is a simpler version without the stage floor box but keeping similar user interface)?? Would be a good way to address the outdated tech used on the existing modules

    I like efnote. They just havent been around long enough to judge long term reliability. I have Roland stuff going on 3 decades that still works perfect. Right now for this kind of money I'll stick with Roland. Module much more flexible too.

    • @listener84
      @listener84 Рік тому +4

      Flexible with a bunch of things that mean nothing to a pro level gig though. There is no front of house mixer in the world that wants the drummer. Trying to mix from the kit. Just send great clean samples that are high-quality and provide the best triggering for the drummer. Tuning muffling and six bus compressors if they want any of that at front of house. not pick the wood on the walls of the studio etc. That’s a gimmick.

    • @fVNzO
      @fVNzO Рік тому +2

      Seems like efnote does have much superior samples though, so both yes and no, Roland is not really more flexible in that regard if you want to use built in sounds.

    electric drums not bad if want to practice at home I have an Alesis I wouldn't recommend for live though at some point electric drums can lag mess your whole gig up I rather stick to acoustic its more solid, me and my guy was just talking about this the other day because the church moved and got these, the ones in charge of the music ministry thought it was a great ideal to get these trying to control the sound ,the pastor don't even like these he said while having service there to electronic need more of a solid sound and more cowbell lol and he's right ,you can't make a joyful noise with drum pads not trying get churchy but yeah lol

    • @Tom-sd2vi
      @Tom-sd2vi 10 місяців тому +3

      If that is your opinion that is fine. I've been gigging with electronic drums for years and never go back probably. Especially in smaller venues like bars where acoustic drums are a disaster to work with they give a much more controlled and balanced sound easily. At stationary venues like a church I do imagine those problems are easier to deal with though.
