Good, useful and accurate info as in all of your videos. Thanks. Your channel is one of the best we've come across for budget minded retirees, and long stay travellers in general, and we look at a lot. Grab. The best ride service in Asia but it really irritates the local taxi drivers. Be careful that your pickup points are no where near a taxi ramp/service as the taxi drivers get very vocal and intimidating.
Very good info for low cost retirement , Malaysia is actually the best country to retire, for its rich cultures, Chinese , Malay and Indian foods. By the way, if you can make your video with a gimbal stabilizer would make the watching experience much better. Thanks.
Was in Melakka a month ago. It seems to have an open sewage system, so on most days it stank. The coast is fenced of supposedly because investors bought it to build 'fancy' highrises'. Remnants of the SEA crisis are very visible with semi old buildings standing empty, making for many ugly spots. Most Airbnbs (3) were seemingly designed to look good and not to be comfortable, managed by anonymous teams. I was in Penang and KL before that and enjoyed the people. Many are well educated and good to talk to. Having experienced the SEA financial crisis and central bank fraud during the last administration, needing the money, the exploitation of their natural resources seems to be even more dramatic than in Thailand for example. Greetings to all the happy-vloggers out there!
Sounds like somewhere I have never been. That is why I always recommend exploratory visits before making any permanent decisions. Life is too short to live where you don't love.
Malacca is a very Interesting place and just like you I could live here . Many positive things to do and see . We hope to return once covid is done . Tioman Island not too far away . Great video.
For cool weather spots, Vietnam has Dalat....any cool weather cities in Malaysia ? I saw a small tourist place called Cameron Heights ? Malacca looks very cool. Thx !
Cameron Highlands is really nice. Make sure to tour the tea plantations there. Genting Highlands near Kuala Lumpur is cool too but not as nice as Cameron. More for gambling.
You need to join the right Malacca Facebook page. Join Melaka Dulu-dulu. It is a grou for local Malaccans sharing their historical memories and lots of old photos, stories you can use for your stories. Contains a mixture of BM and English but with translation on Facebook, you get the gist of the stories. Not to worry, many of us old Malaccans are good with the English Language.
I visited here a couple of years ago. I was disappointed. It was a small city with a small old town. Nothing really excited me. I will certainly not to retire here. I am going to explore Georgetown next year. I think Georgetown is bigger, and more beach area to visit. And the food.
George town in Qiang's number 1 in Malaysia. My number 1 in Malaysia is Kuala Lumpur and number 2 is Georgetown. We both have Malacca as number 3 in Malaysia. Langkawi is a great place to visit as is the Perhentians Islands and Semporna for divers.
Hello and thank you for this video. Question, have you spent any time in the city of Kuching in Sarawak? If yes, what is your opinion of Kuching for Retirement? Thanks.
I am a Malaccan. Due to Covid, it is so much more a place to live in without the weekend throngs of tourists. Lol. But businesses are suffering, though.
I don't see that Malaysia is any better than Thailand, since a retiree needs a hefty bank deposit similar to what you need to retire in Thailand. Most expats live on a monthly income and do not have lots of spare cash to prop up Malaysian or Thai banks. Next option???
I like to travel the world. So I just stay in a place as long as I like it or until my visa runs out and then I move to another nearby country. I call it slow traveling the world. I never get bored that way.
Rang ye wee bell! Fascinating! humidity? I love hot and hate clothes as ye will learn if ye check me channel out. lol Thank ye Matey! So do we give finger to the angry taxi drivers? Home Rental costs? Banking? Will I be able to use me Mastercard there? Ok a real crazy question... Any camping areas/ Any Motorhomes etc available? I am totally loving this video!! Watched all the way through . Sounds like I may have to slow down on me alcohol? Very good history lesson here as well!! I did not know! WILL Watch More!!! Thank ye Dan!!

Great point! Thanks Mac Cat.
I loved Malaka when I was there - 1990 :) I wonder how much it’s changed!
The old town is more colorful now. :-) The outskirts are more built up. :-)

Yes. People experience both good and bad during this global pandemic. It has been a very contemplative time for me personally.
Nice & Cheap!! Any High Ground To Escape A Tsunami??? Show More Moving Rickshaws!!! Good Job!!! Yum!! Yum!!
Will try MickG.
Foreigners cannot buy low cost apt /condo...minimum RM 1 mio house...Rm500k condo ...US$ 250k/125k
Here is why I tell people not to buy real estate in foreign countries: vagabondbuddha.com/why-retired-expats-should-not-buy-real-estate-overseas/
You can rent. Cheaper.
Paraphrasing the old Malboro advert; Come to Malaysia, come to where the flavour is.
I like that Omar! Happy New Year, Dan
I think you should pan you camera slower! We can't see the foods.
Thanks for the constructive criticism!
