Description:
Golden Yoshi's Island is a ROM Hack of Yoshi's Island built to be played for live audiences in a speedrunning setting. It's a modified version of SMW2+2 by Golden Yoshi, racknae, trihex (with his full consent).
This hack features several optimizations to make it a faster run than its source material, based on feedback from the Yoshi speedrunning community:
- 36 levels hand-picked from the original ROM Hack's 50 and rearranged into 4 worlds.
- Default egg aim setting is now Hasty
- Transformation sequence has been sped up
- World-clear cutscene has been removed
- Message box upon collecting first flower has been removed
- Autoscrolling sections removed
- New tech to skip vehicle sections
- Various other sections of levels have been modified for brevity and consistency
- Entering the top secret code now triggers the credits sequence
