without a doubt the person whose grown the most in doing these videos is the camerawoman - she is really good at jumping in at the needed times to keep things moving...just really good and underrated.
It's okay to binge a director's catalog as long as you're not blind-watching any of them. If you're familiar with the films, you can start looking past the basic plot and really start pulling themes across the films and experiencing how the director evolves their work. Great haul, y'all.
Perry has such awesome critique for films. If there is something you don't know about a certain film 📽, Perry is the go-to guy for info. I am disappointed he put back Bogey, In a Lonely Place, 😆 One of my pickups, along with City Lights, Flight Of the Phoenix, Written on the Wind, The Circus, His Girl Friday, Design for Living, The Great Escape, and Night of the Hunter. Six of them bought on Ebay (when you run into a good deal).
Nice to see Bogey getting some love. I was certain Perry was (correctly!), going to say Bogart's best film is 'Treasure Of The Sierra Madre', but Casablanca is also good!
Awe. "Perry - are you sure you wanna do that?" "No, I better pare it down to six." 😂 That's love, that's caring man👍 (The voice of my conscience if Im doing a haul). That was a great moment!
Malcolm X is good but for me the best Spike Lee film is Do the Right Thing. Tootsie is too commercial and it is not a choice for me ! There a re lot of more films that deserve to be picked up before Tootsie. Perry, you are great! I love your comments.
I’ve done my first ever barnes and noble criterion order after investing in a region free player earlier in the year and my mums friend from America who said they’d take the order and ship it to me, ordered y tu mamá también, dazed and confused 4K, after hours 4K, portrait of a lady on fire, a hard days night 4K, Harakiri, Thelma and Louise 4K, seven samurai and inside Llewyn Davis
I 100% agree that binging the library of one filmmaker can lead to negative thoughts on their movies. I did it with Argento and found some of his titles just not that great. Gave it a few months, revisited those titles, and now I have much more respect for them. Some of his movies that I initially viewed as "well it's just another Argento film" are now in my top favorite films of his. Same with genres. I got into boutique Blu-Rays because of giallo. I watched so many gialli I started to lose track of what movie was what. Now I watch them on a more spaced-out basis and it seems like I appreciate them more when doing so.
You gotta do a criterion pick after a few drinks 😂….buy more than you should, talk shit about movies you genuinely don’t like, and verbally confront people in the store. Lol. Y’all are so great! Keep up the good work
Perry needs to include Ali Fear Eats the Soul in a triple feature with All That Heaven Allows , the film that inspired Ali and Far From Heaven which was inspired by both films.
Bigger Than Life and They Live By Night are both great. The other great Ray film that is a must see is Johnny Guitar which just got a new remastered bluray.
The Rules of the game is awesome I would highly reccomend it. I wish the cover on th3 4k was just a slipcover an dhten the bluray one would be just on the case but anyway, yeah, one of my fav satire movies
The Barnes and Noble here in north Alabama had a pretty pitiful selection of Criterion. I was expecting maybe a new shipment for the sale, but it was the same shit they on display 3 months ago. Oh well 😮
The MAN, THE MYTH, THE LEGEND PERRY 🥹

Yaaasss we stan Gen 🩷
The boys are back in town!
Carlos: “Have you ever seen Dressed to Kill, Perry?”
*_And in that moment, Perry was prepared for war._*
Perry needs to have a film analysis channel.
Perry's passion for film is palpable and the way that he speaks on his knowledge adds so much to these videos. Always happy to see him.
A criterion haul with Perry! yesss and you look great Perry! Always love watching the two of you do these videos
Just ordered Ghost World, one of my faves!!
So glad that Perry didn't fully commit to putting back Thelma & Louise. An absolutely incredible 4K restoration that everyone should see.

Great haul, y'all.
Welcome back perry even if it's one time it's great to see you

The day Carlos and Perry buy War and Peace is the day I will know peace 🙏

Perry is this generations Perry.
Perry looking LEAN
War and Peace is a long but very rewarding experience. Granted since it's technically four films, you can just watch them separately day by day.
On one of the next sales, I’ll have to make a trip out there to hang out. In person Arizona selections suck!
For me I think Bergman really started coming into his own as a director with Summer Interlude.
Good ‘ol Perry
I feel like High and Low is the new Blue Velvet, haha.

Does Perry has his own UA-cam channel?
Brilliant video as usual gentlemen love it!
Perry commands the screen
great pickups

Fassbinder was directly inspired to make Ali Fear eats the Soul from All that Heaven Allows and also the other Douglas Sirk film Imitation of Life.
Great video! I picked up:
Black Girl
Carnival of Souls
Frownland
Onibaba
Safety Last
The Freshman
Night of the Hunter
I agree about the downsides of binging a director's filmography. Get some variety in there!

I’m surprised you didn’t buy or even mention One False Move! Such an underrated classic from the early 90’s.

Should have waited, you mention it later in the video.
Bigger Than Life and They Live By Night are both great. The other great Ray film that is a must see is Johnny Guitar which just got a new remastered bluray.
My fave vids on UA-cam 🥲
Perry has seen the light about Hedwig!
I wonder, there's some many criterion hauls on you tube, how many actually watch the films?
The Rules of the game is awesome I would highly reccomend it. I wish the cover on th3 4k was just a slipcover an dhten the bluray one would be just on the case but anyway, yeah, one of my fav satire movies
You put back All That Heaven Allows?! I hate you. 😛 Thanks for another great haul video guys. See you in the Discord.
Blessed by the 8th wonder wonder of the world: Jesus Perez 🙏
Does Perry have a letterboxd account?
cinemasavant
@@TheMisfitPond Thank you 🙏
I was hoping someone would pick up One False Move.
Which director did you mention at 5:00
Satyajit Ray ❤️
Does Perry have a Letterboxd account?
My Letterboxd name is cinemasavant.
Morrissey & Smith's 4ever!!!!
Love the shirt. One dog is going East the other dog is going West so what
Great Vid! If Perry is into Road Movies. I suggest: "Two-Lane Blacktop" and "Scarecrow"(1973, with Al Pacino and Gene Hackman)
