I never had a problem with the story of this game. but i do wish the planned DLC was never scraped before finally pulling the plug on the servers. which sucks because i wanted to see what other Factions they had (especially what a Shadow them faction would have been.)
To this day i still play this on my old PS3, showing my wife the live action movies, & just listening to the soundtrack. I never had a problem with the controls, if they were change i could easily adapt to the new controls (Thanks WWE & MK games).
As for what i want to see in a new TM game, well thats easy.
1. A full $60 price Classic TM style game, not a free to play microtranaction.

2. 16 characters with bonus characters to unlock including the return of Minion.
3. Create a Car
By the way i have an idea for a video. play TM3 but all weapon pickups are napalms. (you can still use your specials.)
They pulled the plug on the online servers only 2 week after the game launched😂

Wish they made a ps4 version since this game came out 1 year before the next gen console release
Idk why they never got it for PS4 and it was for a while on PS Now (when Now was still a thing) then got removed forever. If they ever add it to the store, I would buy it immediately without hesitation, wouldn't even wait for a discount.
They should've had waay more content for this gem.
Easily the best feeling Twisted Metal game imo. The tone of the story is also pretty much exactly what I think of when I think of Twisted Metal (A bit dark but also kind of humorous). Only thing I’m not a fan of is how you have to use both L1 and R1 at the same time to jump, wish that was more like how it was in Head-On. Other than that it’s definitely in the top 3 for me.

Personally i think this is the best TM for pure gameplay. I understand if you really like stories or even the older format of the story mode then this isnt for you. But every car feels very smooth to use and each car feels unique enough. All the maps were great imo but I do agree heavily that there should have been more maps total tho. If TM4 weren't just a personal favorite from my childhood, this would be my favorite TM.
I booted this up recently just out of curiosity and ended up spending all afternoon playing it. I forgot how much fun it was. Great controls and levels, too.
When this game was announced i completely fan girled and constantly watched the trailers. I got it at midnight release. I was very sad at the lack of characters. The game play is phenomenal. Watching it die almost immediately broke my heart. I still play it. Bosses were awesome. Races were lame
If they the story mode was longer it would have been perfect. When it first came out i thought they were going to do all the og characters stories. The story mode is good but it needed more content
I’m miss the online so much. Spinning in circles with your other players while hosing each other with mega guns. Ramming into dog piles with Darkside. 2V2 in ghost town gulch. Too much fun!
My top 3 wishes for a new TM are
1) Big single player
2) the single player is just combat and cutscenes
3) each car has it's own unique driver
2012 and black will always be my favorite twisted metal games everything about them is just so much fun to me from the story to the gameplay
I agree with you, the new game would need classic TM playthrough with individual endings, online modes can be separate.
The game looks amazing, and the gameplay is solid for sure, but the lack of content was definitely disappointing. To me it always kinda felt like a demo for a game that never came.
may i know the setup for pc?
Dude everytime I bring up how I enjoyed this game people gotta tell me how bad the controls were etc. and I'm not seeing it. I booted it up the other day to make sure it wasn't just me and the game still felt as great as I remembered. It feels the best to play and control out of all previous TM games imo.
This game looses alot of replayability due to the lack of proper campaign. You cant say you are going to gold medal all the levels when all 3 stories have a horribly bad race.
It wasn't meant to have a story single player but Sony pushed it so I'm just glad, for a last minute push, it's still relevant today
This game was interesting and novel when it released, but eventually I kinda got tired of getting jobbed online.

I like using square for gas, and the stick for reverse and spinning out of reverse.

Truthfully I hated this iteration. I played it and it just doesn’t feel like TM. The cars are interchangeable and make it less special. (You’d play all the characters to try their cars and special moves) Also, like you mentioned about the story mode. That just kills the vibe of it being special.

4: Which surprise character would you like to see in season 2 of the Twisted Metal show on peacock?
5: What map/location would you like to see a tournament battle take place when season 2 comes out?
I REALLY want to stream and play this game sometime in the future, so I hope my computer can run ps2xpc emulator 😌 tm 1, 2, black, small brawl, and tm 2012 is on my list.
For me i loved Twisted Metal 2012's gameplay but didn't like the drivers could be in any vehicle & hated Talon lol if they do a new TM game i think if it played Similar to 2012 but the tone of black would be dope & i think Twisted can take inspiration from Mortal Kombat where u can have the traditional tournament where everyone has a story, & than a bigger story mode where it follows specific characters & follows one story
I still highly recommend this game if you own a ps3 it's only $10 on the ps3 digital store and runs great on original hardware though if you have a powerful enough PC then emulation might look and perform better
It is absolutely not underrated. Just another exclusive from the greedy Sony, who killed many legendary franchises.
I actually set up my PS3 again 2 weeks ago just for this game! Been playing it ever since. So much fun even in single player. I remember waiting at GameStop for the midnight release lol
The A.i of this game sucks, the concept is good, the story too, but the A.I is just stupid, the way that all enemies follow every move and every special comes to player, awful.
I liked the game, just didn’t like how it only featured 3 character stories.
This twisted metal game was a beautiful send off for the series. I hope someday the series is revisited and a new one comes out with the original team involved.
I've only played 1 and 2, then this game and I loved it, so I have no thoughts about the other games (which I heard was bad).
Damn right it was underrated! I grew up on TM and this one didn't disappoint me in the slightest. I never understood why people didn't like it

what does battle royale even add to twisted metal? i dont see it getting better being 100 players on a massive map compared to around 10 on a smaller one
Love this game, played it for 3 hrs last night, wish there were more maps and my biggest gripe is that half the cars are copies of the other half when it comes to specials
The multiplayer and single player content in this game was great
They should remake part 2 world tour it was the best that with some new perks and more maps
Love this game. Its my 4th favorite. Would b #2 but lack of characters, bad online, and those damn racing sections drag it down for me.
Great coverage man this has always been one of my all time favorite series and I really hope we get another one soon. I bought the original PlayStation for TM1
