Every hard rocker & metal head I've ever met or known loves loves loves ABBA! Everyone loves ABBA. They are the #2 selling entertainment act of all time, ahead of Elvis, Michael Jackson...........and just behind the Beatles. Legends! They could have retired as millionaires after their 1st album but they kept on going, and for a decade they were the undisputed #1 band in the world. They did in a decade what took other legends their entire careers!
58 year old white man, these songs are part of my youth and I'm not ashamed to say they invoke feelings of youth, freedom and something I can't quite put my finger on! ABBA were very unique and able to convey and inspire certain feelings like no one else but, soooo many groups from that ERA, my youth, were special!
I'm 56 myself (almost 10 when this song came out) and this is one of those songs that, as much as I may try to deny it, were simply meant to be part of life.
First time I heard this... back in the 70s. I was laying in the back of my dad's old station wagon looking up at the clouds rolling past the window. Dancing Queen came on the radio and my dad changed the station. My sister said "no dad... please, that's my favorite." Well, my dad didn't just play it for her he cranked that old AM radio up as high as it could go. My sister was singing, my dad was smiling. Just a great memory. I'll always love this song because of that day. Guess I should subscribe now, lol. Thanks my friend. 👏🏾
@@gregorygant4242 I love those songs as well. Obviously. Abba released their last album last year November and my fave song from Voyage, Keep an eye on Dan, has the SOS piano intro as the song's outro. Kinda epic in many ways
Im lucky enough to have parents that taught me the difference between "like" and "good". What I like isnt always good and whats good I might not like. I grew up with a mother playing ABBA every day and its not that I thought it was bad or anything but I was way more into Michael Jackson, E-type and 2Unlimited to pay attention. First when I was older I was like "Ok, this is the second best selling band of all time... there must be something to it" and I very quickly realized that this is friggin brilliant.
I was a teenager during the 70's/80's. This was filmed in 1976. It was a wonderful time to be young. People were happier, relationships were closer, life was more care free, and the music was incredible. Attending concerts was a huge thing to do among young people back then. We loved it. Concert tickets were not that expensive at all. The groups my friends and I loved were Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Lynrd Skynrd, Journey, Styx, Foreigner, Triumph, 38 Special, Boston, REO Speedwagon, Rush. I was around the same age as these kids on the dance floor in the video. ABBA is in the top 10 of album/singles sales of all time, selling around 400 million copies. Though I wasn't and am not a huge fan of theirs, their songs bring back a ton of wonderful memories.
I understand exactly what you mean. I agree 100% with everything you said, as well as your written words across the screen. It is IMPOSSIBLE to not smile and move your body to Dancing Queen.

This came out in 1976, I was 16 & used to go to the 'disco' dancing to this fabulous song of theirs! I pretended I was 18 yrs old when the Bouncers asked my age!! There were plenty 'disco's there at the time!! ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974! This was my favourite song of theirs!! 💝💝💝

I had this ABBA album on vinyl when it originally came out in the 70s. One of the funniest films you may have seen that's loade with their music from 1994 is "Muriel's Wedding" an Aussie production. It's actually a "dramedy" & especially one ABBA scene in it is just great. I won't reveal n spoil it for you... Just watch it! Guaranteed you will love it. Try Abba singing The Winner Takes It All: very emotional
Over the years and of their MANY hits, The Winner Takes it All is srill my favorite!
I was only a kid but I do remember that the 70's were a blast! Nothing at all like today. :(

Thank you so much for reacting to ABBA!
This was their biggest hit. It's timeless. Most of their songs could have been released today and it will still be a hit. Love Abba so much
