@@barbraluce5706 🙋♀ Hello Barbra!! Did you enjoy the matinee?
I love Upstairs Downstairs.
Wow Neil, this is a wonderful trip down memory lane…. Oh good lord I’m feeling old 😂😂😂😂 how times have changed… we’ve gone from servility to crass and inappropriate in our films and programs today.
Amen and Amen!!
Agree 100%
Well said 👋👋
Perfectly said. I totally agree Christine. 🇺🇸

Wonderful program, thank you for sharing Neil 😊
Thanks for this 😊
What a lovely show!
I used to love thus. It is so gentle a world away from the harsh jarring dramas we have today. I so wanted my life to be like this. A world away from working class Birmingham!! 😘!
I find that interesting. There’s so much to learn about the UK.
I watched this in the 70s at 12.30pm on a Friday. Brought back many memories.
That’s nice to know. Have a good Sunday ! xx
Delightful movie.

.-.lived in Stockholm during ” Upstairs Downstairs” and everyone was ”in” that night ! Terrific series !
Thank you, Neil, for your charming excursions into Amazing British History, Art and Culture, into Britishness.
Thank you Neil for sharing “The Cedar Tree” with us. I like most Americans had never heard of the show.
Also some UK viewers haven't seen the show.! And I've realised why. We skipped owning a TV after marrying for a good few years , excellent BBC Radio 4 to keep us company. Maybe it wasn't Woke then.
That tie is a stunner, chum!
Family life in the days before television.
Yes that’s exactly true ! And a bit about the class system !
Thank you for sharing the cedar tree episode, Neil!

Throughly enjoyed on Sunday afternoon in Lyttelton, New Zealand❤
I love all the period dramas. I've just watched two Catherine Cookson films and now I'm going to watch your matinee, Neil. 😊
❤. Thanks
Thank you for a wonderful reminder of the quality we once enjoyed Neil! Sadly it just reminded me why I don't miss watching Television anymore and research films thoroughly before I commit any time, money or effort to watching one! What a special treat, thank you.
What a delite that was. Thanks Neil❤
Thank you for another TV memory 💐
What a delightful way to start Sunday. Enjoyed the Cedar Tree. Thanks, Neil, for this revival.👍👍👍👍🇨🇦
Loved it. Thank you.
So sweet. How nostalgic. Thanks for this, Neil.
Wonderful show, Neil ❤❤ I’ve never seen this before. And so timeless really. I wasn’t sent abroad at 16 but I certainly felt for young Vicki not wanting to grow up. I was exactly the same. Still am😢
👋 Hello Neil ❤ 🇺🇸.
Being from the US I had never heard of this series, but I know I would have loved it! Thank you Neil! Enjoyed that very much!
What a lovely show, times certainly have changed, I smiled all the way through, thanks Neil xxx
Hadn’t seen this before but the title rings a bell-absolutely charming. Will have to look out for it on DVD. Always a big fan of Upstairs Downstairs.
I really enjoyed today matinee. I really got involved. Plus I enjoy looking at furnishings, clothes etc.
Thank you Neil for another most enjoyable half hour. Love these old black and white movies, the diction is so clear and storyline intriguing. Loved it!
How enchanting! Thank you for this video.
Thanks, Neil. This was a wonderful remembrance of time past
Thank you so much for this, Neil! I am currently re-watching both Upstairs Downstairs and Downton Abbey from start to finish, and being in the US I had never heard of The Cedar Tree. Thanks to you I have just found it on UA-cam, all 3 seasons of 6 episodes each (and each episode is over 3 hours!). It was created by Alfred Shaughnessy, who was the chief writer and script editor of Upstairs Downstairs. Put "The Cedar Tree TV series" in the UA-cam search box and you will get the entire program, all episodes coming up first thing. One set was posted by Raymond Smith and one by Dame Penmarric, but they look to be identical - choose one of those, you can play them in order. I am going to begin watching it tonight!
I've been binge watching 🙂
That was adorable! Thank you Neil. ❤
Oh Neil you’ve made my day. Loved this series.
What a lovely treat, Neil! I thoroughly enjoy British television and movies.🍿🎥
😊👋🏼
Oh how wonderful. Thank you Neil!!
Hi Neil 👋👋👋🇦🇺🇦🇺 , thank you for sharing this lovely story, now I will look for the other episodes.
Neil, thank you for this treat!
Well. Sewing and watching this.. my afternoon will be booked x
Thank you.
I have always loved "Upstairs, Downstairs" ... Lord and Lady Bellamy .... Over here in Germany it was called "Das Haus am Eaton Place". Loved it so much. And Ruby and the butler who then later played the boss of MI5 ..... ❤
I've never heard of this show as I'm in the US, but after watching this episode, I've found it on UA-cam. So since it was so good, and you shared it with us, your chums, I'm planning to watch the entire 3 seasons of the series. Thank you for sharing and posting this nifty.little show. I can't wait to see how it turns out. Cheers !👋👋👋😁
I normally need subtitles to be able to hear and understand what people on TV are saying. But with this programme I had no trouble at all hearing every word they said, it was wonderful!!
What a great treat, thank you for sharing this with all of us!!!
Loved this. Definitely need updated!!!
I loved Upstairs Downstairs and Downton Abbey, Gosford Park, Belgravia and many of the historical dramas. The English classics and performers were the best. From an American fan and friend.
The Cedar Tree was so interesting
Loved The Pallisters, Forsythe Saga, The Fall of Eagles, Lady Named Jennie, Edward VII, etc.
Gosh I had forgotten the Cedar Tree! Love period dramas ..
As I'm from Australia I've never watched it but now I'm going to try to watch the series.thankyou NEIL.
Loved the afternoon matinée , takes me back to being a child
I just love these types of shows! Thx for letting us know Neil!
👋👋👋
This is amazing it's in color and just like the American soap operas
Neil thank-you, thank-you, thank-you… I have no other words, oh wait, thank-you!!!
That was wonderful and makes me want more 😊
I miss the people in my life who had lived these days in the cedar tree. Life was gentler then and kinder, the age of innocence
Brilliant! What a fabulous cast. Susan Engel, Cyril Luckham, Joyce Carey, but I don’t remember this at all!!! The opening and closing* credit music sounds like that from. . . .??? Oh what's the tv series called chums?
I was 23 in '76, and if it were an afternoon programme then that’s probably why I didn’t see it because I was building up my career in the mid 70s. Might also be because I might have been in bed sleeping because I was on night duty 💤💤
It's like some of the pop songs of the 70s, heard most of them but couldn’t name one of them! Joyce Carey, on the other, I can name loads of her films. She was a real stalwart of British cinema, and she lived to be nearly a hundred I recall.
The music sounds like . . it's gone!
Thanks to you, Neil, I can now talk about The Cedar Tree and, thanks again for another fabulous Pathe News style introduction to this show. ❤
I just got a used cookbook from Downton Abbey. I watched more of Upstairs Downstairs. I never heard of the Cedar Tree. Thank you.
Thank you!
I really enjoyed this, thank you ❤
Goody Neil ! I’m looking forward to this matinee. You do pick fantastic films. xx 👋👋
Doesn't he, though? Waving 💁♀Hi, Alice 🖐
Love this show ❤
Oh Neil what a lovely film.
I loved this series so much as a teenager. I always wanted, and still do want, a garden with a cedar tree, as grand houses always had cedar trees. I'm now in my 60s and I have a lovely cottage garden with two oak trees. Not quite the cedar tree, and the house is a cottage, not a big house, but i love it. If someone could magic up a mature Cedat tree, that would be perfect
Thank You for this Neil!!! "The Cedar Tree"; Parts 1 & 2: "Victoria"; If I was told I was being sent to Munich for classical music training, I would be not only thrilled to be on my own again and away from my uptight family, after I have re-packed again, albeit 3 weeks early, I might even offer to to stay there permanently and ask if it were OK to find a husband there as well. Cheers from NYC
Thank you so much for this 👏🏼👏🏼💕💓💗🇦🇺💗💓💕
I remember this series, and it was when i was off school. Loved it
Hi Neil, I took your advice and sat by an open window today! After recovering from seeing how dirty my windosills are, i really did feel better. Thank you!! 😊
Loved those wonderful 1940 /1950 fims . Joyce Cary Jon Mills, Trever Howard, James Mason, Trever Howard, as well as the lovely ladied, Margaret Lockwood, Phylis Calvert Celia Johnson Jean Kent Ann Crzwfor. I could go on and on but you get thepicture.😂😂❤❤
