- A report by Al Jazeera's Brendan Connor reports on the USA Taekwondo team that is headed for the 2008 Summer Olympics, and is dominated by a family of fighters from Texas, via Nicaragua
Get this. I do taekwondo, live in Houston, my last name is Lopez, and my family is from Nicaragua. Can't wait to be like one of them.
Can we call him the Bill Cosby of taekwondo?
Just met the family yesterday at the Texas state championships. They're really cool people. As for the yelling, it's for intimidation, the guy I fought yesterday in order to qualify for the junior olympics screamed at me like I set his hair on fire. And I yelled back just as loud. You also do it when you know you've landed a solid hit, so the judges will be more likely to score it.
Met them all in Texas a few months back at my brother's tournament!
Their family fights must be amazing

this is all media.. just imagine a typical family turning on the tv and seeing a family competing together in a competition while the announcer says they're the "best in the world". i bet it would promote the sport much better than one individual right...?
Steven is the best out of all the lopezes
the guy doesnt even bow to his oppenent. he just gets all pised when he loses and when he wins he like goes crazy
Ok. I am a Karate guy, but competitive. But I like to watch TKD fights once in awhile. Every champ gets beat and to compete at a high level, you can only on top for a certain amount of time. There alot of talented fighters who become great by fighting or beating the best. To think just because hes been beaten, does not make him one of the best TKD fighters that ever lived. This is coming from a Shotokan Karate guy.
I wished I would have the same opportunities as Steven and his siblings does . I have always loved taekwondo but never got the oportunites to shine like them just because I don't have the support as they have. :( keep up.

Theres just 1 thing, the spin hook kick is most resosible in tkd competition for 1 kick ko's, why do people slate probably the best ko technique the human body can deliver?

i hate the lopez... especially mark cuz if u saw the 2008 olympic final against son tae jin, tht was the worst attitude and sportsmanship ive ever seen in taekwondo... its just really sad...
