All us kayak guys know how hard it is to fish like this. Toss in a little current, then a little wind and for more fun put in some structure. You have to be able to make quick decisions with your paddle (or if you have a peddle drive) and find the best angle to get that fish out. It's fun and frustrating all at once. I have lost some big fish because of having little to no leverage once I start getting pulled around. Keep the vids coming!
How magical to have that water all to yourself. And burly reds eager to please. Experienced it once w stripers on a creek off the Chesapeake and I forever treasure that day. Love watching your stories. Fish hard. Live long.
I just want to say.. Seeing young guys like you, enjoying nature in the outdoors.. It just gives me hope for the younger generation. I spent many years doing that kind of stuff. Its healthy for body and mind. Mom used to tell me, It kept me off the streets. lol You are a good example for others.. I always said.. You live to live fully.. Enjoying all God's Beutty he blessed us with. There is nothing like watching a sunrise or sunset from the water. It is almost magical.. Stay safe buddy and always enjoy life.
Hello friend, greetings from Costa Rica, your videos are great and very entertaining. Thank you very much for sharing them and giving us ideas for fishing. pure Life!!!
Honestly, idk who was more bumped about you loosing that monster of a fish tbh. I even felt it, what a day to be fishing for yourself man. Keep up the legit videos.
Thanks Man haha it’s part of the game going three for five ain’t bad in my book. I tried fishing away from the structure more to get bites but I wouldn’t get any because they were sitting really tight.
Love your fish handling techniques to by the way always great to see the fisherman respect his catch by quickly handling and releasing absolutely awesome !!
@@FishAholicTV or (and this is going to be wildly controversial) is switch to a Native Watercraft propel drive and just bam reverse out of those tight spots without having to take any hands off the rod! amazing videos tho man - love the content and the passion. thanks for sharing!
I fish in Beaufort off a dock and beach. I use live mullet religiously. I fish em a few feet off the dock facing whichever way the tide is going with a slow troll in and do great with minimal hookups. I fish in some very fast moving water too.
1. Digging the music add in. Nice touch. 2. You called it from the last vid; putting live bait on put your catch in another weight class. 3. You are getting your money’s worth from that kayak. 4. Epic camera work.
I've gone to a barrel swivel. One knot and done on the leader change.. None of that braid to fluorocarbon routine. Skinner had a recent underwater video of fish life under a Florida dock. Fascinating stuff.
Hey Rich your vids help me make it through the winter blues keep up the good work! Striper season kicked off in March for me in RI and the bite is getting better every day so get back up North! One thing I'd like to suggest to you is using a perfection loop when U direct tie jigs and flies and such over a barrel knot. Noticeable difference in action and you will really see a difference in hookups when Fat Albert comes to town.
Awesome fishing! I'm sure you don't need any advice from me, maybe you're making things hard on yourself for fun or to make things more entertaining. I'll throw my 2 cents in for the folks in the comments. I fish for a lot of reds off docks and structure, I have been very successful keeping my lures and baits just off the outside of structure and letting the fish come out to grab em. You're really playing with fire chucking your bait in so deep into structure with light tackle. Hopefully I save at least one person from losing tackle, breaking a rod, or scratching up their yak/boat. Tight lines!
Thanks, I’m not against advice it’s impossible to know it all and a lot of stuff can’t be learned until you do so I’ll take away a lot from this outing. But you know it was strange I tried fishing the ends of the docks but for some reason couldn’t get any bites. Maybe I was a little antsy after that immediate first bite. But anyway next time I’ll try it. Thanks for tuning in and commenting. Tight Lines 🤙🏻
@@FishAholicTV I 100% agree with you, and I noticed the same thing. You will usually get a hookup faster deep into structure since i'm assuming that's where the fish are sitting, and you're dropping the bait right in front of them. Hard for a fish to pass up something right in there face, but as long as it's close enough they will eventually come out to play.
Hey Rich, I'm from India & recently I have been watched your fishing videos and those videos are amazing. I feel so happy when you catch a fish. I also love to fishing, but your technics are awesome. I wish one day we will meet together & I'm waiting for that day. And I'm waiting for your new videos. 😁👍
Well I just found your channel tonight and I have been binging it, whenever you're in Charleston again id be happy to take you out on my boat for some fishing. 👍🏼
Maybe they will still come out and eat a live bait on the edge of the docks. And being in a boat may help with the fish not dragging you into the pilings because they boat won’t get dragged like your kayak does. I have zero experience doing this kind of fishing but just my 2 cents
I am super stoked to see these type of videos where anyone can find dock type structure to fish and boy you were pounding them. I wonder like from this video the wind seemed to be calm that day and that let you get into those tight spaces. I hardly ever get a break from the wind here in the low country of South Carolina. does the calmer wind help the bite in a situation like in this video? I know it helps because your in a Kayak but does it help the bite?
Try flipping your bail and going free spool when they get you in the structure! I do it with snook all the time and as soon as I take the tension off they stop fighting and I'm able to untangle my line from the structure and land them.
I watch all the UA-cam fishermen that I have been watching for years but all I see is redfish. Time for one of you to head north for some stripers and blues.
Hey Rich. Huge fan... Have you ever done or thought of doing a video on loading/unloading your kayak on the 4runner. Maybe how you like to set up your kayak for fishing as well. I also have a 5th Gen 4runner and recently purchased the 2020 Hobie Outback. Seems like some heavy/high lifting for one person. Also thanks for the sick videos!
That had to be one of your best kayaking videos ever. The amount of fight and effort you put in to catch those Reds was nothing short of brilliant. Pulling that fish free from under the dock was amazing. Wish those fish were up in the Jersey coastal area; they look like a fun fight.
Like that kiyack however the hell it is spelled but Kool like the set up too and yeah smart move custom make a bit enough room for fish right behind where the users is seated

My new favorite fishing channel
Now that was some first class Angling...Literally!
I have been fishing reds and trout like this for years. Almost nothing better than catching big reds in shallow water. Great video.

Just a genuinely good fishing channel - Never miss a video.

Your videos are so awesome, just subscribed and watching like every video now
What a day.... fish gods were watching ya :)
Nice lil Texas slam there buddy. Red, trout & flounder trio🤘🏽
I almost cried when you lost the one behind you “this ones a tank” you need a small trolling motor ! They come In handy man !
Haha Yeah that would have been handy. Live and yah learn I’ll be back to Charleston again 🤙🏻
Well good luck man! Fishing definitely is harder than it looks on UA-cam! Hope you catch some more biggums! Can’t wait to see

That's a fantastic video. Serious combat fishing. Nice to see a guy that knows which side the handle is suppose to be on a spinning reel. LOL.
One of your best videos. Not easy catching reds on structure like that . They're bad ass little fish
Hands down one of the hardest pulling species I’ve tangled with. 🤙🏻
Hilarious stuff. Love upping the ante with the increased degree of difficulty of fishing through docks.
1. Digging the music add in. Nice touch.

Haha thanks for all the points Jason tight lines 🤙🏻
You are killing these videos great job man
Nice maneuvering of the kayak under the dock. Great job landing those reds.
Excellent work around the dock. Nice catches.
Dude what an exciting video, I have never had success like that. I will be trying this for sure. Thank you.
I love your reel sir,
@8:15 mark...I was like "OH YEA" with you when THAT Big Red came up! The whole video was fire dude...great fishing!
You need the interlock at the end of your line for that quick and easy change on lures. Love your videos man. Keep it up
Man~ I was pushing my chair back and forth between my desk and bed while watching your video. Thank you for uploading.
I lived on the Ashley river in Charleston. We called them spot tail bass too.
crazy bite! cant believe the size consistency from that spot
Great video man...nice handy work with the kayak...awesome all around.
holy! It’s like an unlimited amount of fish!
Epic battles...... nicely done man!
I've gone to a barrel swivel. One knot and done on the leader change.. None of that braid to fluorocarbon routine.
Skinner had a recent underwater video of fish life under a Florida dock. Fascinating stuff.
Learn to tie an FG the easy way and takes less then 45 seconds. Also a stronger connection then a swivel.
Best video I’ve seen in a while!

Nice Fishing, greetings from Argentina!
amazing fishing video.. I also have fun watching.
Awesome reds.. and great job on getting him out of the pilling
Man they were REALLY stacked under that one dock!
What a simple basic rig, probably the simplest I have seen to fish with live bait! Thanks for the tip! I'll try this for stripers!
Yeah KISS principle never fails haha.
Great Video Rich! You need a 360 !
Exciting !
I also tie uni knots my signature knot
Awesome video. That was fun to watch.
Thanks man glad to hear!!! 🤙🏻

Throw a piece of cut bait, either a shrimp or sardine & hold tight
Insane action, how in the world did you manage fish to the surface is beyond me
Throws bait under dock to the other side...oh no I'm wrapped! Lol insane catches guy!
Great video and videos man love watching fellow salt fanatics hit the water.... from Outer banks NC
Your videos are so cool.Keep posting
Bro that’s an epic redfish bite right there. Awesome video man!

Omg, this so intense! I would have a ball
Excellent stuff man, I got to get out there and do that too! I especially like the close quarters combat!
I do this type of fishing in my Gheenoe at the same boat ramp.
Good job man keep up the hard work love the vid
be cool if it was your last fish of the day and you used it to pull you to the ramp, or home if you are on a canal like me.
Awesome how you got that fish unwrapped. Plus huge difference between live and artificial in quality.
Will be great to see a barramundi with this style of fishing n recording, hope you'll make that trip someday.
Great video
stay safe
Yeah that’s definitely a bucket list fish to catch! Hopefully I’ll get a chance one day 🤞🏻
awesome video bro! look like a lot of fun. watching this video gives me the itch to get out in the water. just got a new subscriber!

Never heard anyone call a Red a “red spot bass” 😂😬
My dad side is from Charleston and we use to fish Wando river and all thru Charleston and ......we use to call them "spottail bass"
@Kaiser Jaziel stop trying to scam people...
Yeah, only ever heard people say redfish or red drum.
Than he holds it like a bass
I’ve heard and called them spottail bass, redfish, and red drum
Nice video 📹 👍
