Tim burgess worked in the mail room for imperial chemicals ( ICI) in cheshire, in the early 80s. He delivered internal mail around the site on bicycle. I worked there then, and saw him almost everyday.
Although, he only goes by Tim Burgess. The Charlatans were more "Madchester" than Britpop, even though they're from Northwich, they were very much part of that scene, along with The Stone Roses, The Happy Mondays, The Inspiral Carpets and James. "Baggy" was another term for it
My Favourite band of the 90s. Still my favourite band, Telling Stories probably there most and we'll know album, but Wonderland is a great album aswell.. check out there back catalogue ❤
I prefer tellin stories and self titled to wonderland but it's a great album the charlatans have so many great albums and songs. Tbh I'm not keen on alot of simpatico but others say it's there favourite album so I respect any fans opinion. I do think dave would prefer tellin stories songs first thats why I put how high or one to another first for him.
These guys have a massive back catalogue which goes back before britpop. . their sound evolved all over the place over the years but stayed consistently good. Try weirdo, the only one i know, , my beautiful friend, one to another and many more.
Brand new can of worms for you, Dave! These guys are awesome. The Only One I Know was a tune that was played a lot here in the states on college/alt 📻 & clubs.
Loving the britpop reactions. A few suggestions would be Supergrass - Man Sized Rooster Ocean Colour Scene - Hundred Mile High City Cast - Sandstorm Bluetones - Marblehead Johnson
Also also, if you like the Charlies (examine, for instance, "North Country Boy" and "The Only One I Knew" for confirmation - or not), you might like The Seahorses (a sort of Indie supergroup long ago that shot right up to total oblivion in about 20 seconds. There was even an album.). But any band that can come up with the lines "Strap on Sally chased us down the alley / We feared for our behinds" deserves the keys to any reactioner's city, Shirley?
My request thanks dave hope you like it 👍
Our thanks again for the help that night Dave!
Top tune!
The Charlatans are def worth going down the rabbit hole with. They have a ginormous catalogue of amazing tunes
Great band! The singer went to my high school in Northwich near Manchester
So many great tracks from these boys. Great.

Telling Stories is a great album. I love it.
Was lucky enough to see them a couple of weeks ago, and they played this. One of my favourite bands...massive back catalogue to get through though!
Dave was right!! The Charlatans (known as The Charlatans UK in the U.S. to avoid confusion with the 60s group of the same name)
Oh thanks for clearing that up!

The Charlatans… if given more airtime in the US I’m sure would have been popular.
Try ‘north country boy’ or ‘coming home’ amongst the vast catalogue
Great band. One to Another is probably their finest hour.
Yes dave ! Try tellin stories , Indian rope and one to another ❤

Ah, the Charlies. Oasis' big (and better) brothers.
They have so many better songs than this.
