So excited to bring this BRAND NEW crochet stitch to you. I have a ton of crochet books and have watched lots of crochet videos. I've never seen this before!
This is gorgeous an looks so easy! I've watched other tutorials and tried to do Herringbone but it was so complicated I gave up. This looks so much easier. Thank you 😁
I came up with this when I was really keen to make the same look of knitted herringbone stitch in a crochet version. I searched everywhere and nothing really got the look as close as I wanted.
No, sorry I don’t yet. I’d like to do this eventually. Send me an email to remind me and I’ll get it done for you. You can go to the contact page on my website to send me an email My website is Https://lightandjoydesigns.com
Good question! Very similar to any decrease, just do two stitches together but for the second half of that 2 together only start it like a regular half double crochet, then pull through all loops. Please let me know if you try this and if it works.
This is the BEST video I've found (even tho the other crocheters videos were also very good) I also learned the crochet nailbinding stitch from you, and several other stitches. Is there one for sc Herringbone where you dont have to work in reverse?
This is the herringbone stitch you don't have to work in reverse. Did you get a chance to try it? Also, be sure to subscribe for email alerts of new patterns! lightandjoydesigns.com/subscribe-2/
Hi Mel. Yes! You could definitely use this stitch for a blanket. It would make a wonderful warm and thick blanket! Plus very cool looking! Do you plan to try it?
Thanks for this stitch 👍❤. I really love herringbone but it can be difficult in crochet. I've made a few items in the flat using your version Instagram @mxcrochet I've been trying to work it in the round, but the seem is very noticeable. I've tried a few techniques for invisible seems but none seem to really work with this stitch. Do you have any tips for joining in the round to help make it less noticeable? Thanks 😀
Thanks for saying hi. I’m not sure if the seam is avoidable in the round. Maybe try doing one last cluster after the slip stitch is made at the end of the round might do it.
It’s a good point. Sometimes it’s not top of mind for people so I like to remind my audience because sometimes I find myself glad that a video I’m watching reminded me to subscribe or like. Thank you for watching and thank you for your feedback. Wishing you a happy new year. 😊
In response to Fulla B, I think being grateful someone takes the time to create a very helpful video is the way to go. This may be someone's first time watching an instructional video and it's offering them a way to interact with the very nice instructor when subscribed and setting the notification to All. I hope I didn't overstep.

Light and Joy Designs ❤️ Oh absolutely!!!

Amazing variation of the traditional Herringbone. I love yours 100% ! This is sooooo much easier and love that it's reversible.
Thanks so much! I love the reversible too!

This is gorgeous an looks so easy! I've watched other tutorials and tried to do Herringbone but it was so complicated I gave up. This looks so much easier. Thank you 😁
You’re right this is so much easier!! Thanks for writing!
It can also work very well for garments or accented features in an overall pattern.
This crocheted stitch actually has an advantage over the knitted version in that it is REVERSIBLE!! 🙂
Beautiful, can't wait to try
Thank you! 😊yay!!! Share a link to your pictures!
Beautiful crochet stitch. Thank you 😍. The explanation was simple and easy-to-use. 💕
So Glad it was helpful! Thx for letting me know! Did you make one?
It would be a great stitch for making rugs, baskets or anything that needs some thickness and sturdiness.
Great video! Thank you
Glad you liked it!

hi thank you sooo much for teaching us how to do this stitch in an easy way . i love it
So glad! Thanks Tessie
Hello ! Loving this stitch. I was wondering if you could tell me what kindle if yarn you used in this video?
The pink yarn is by Lion Brand called “color made easy”. It is discontinued but you probably can find some on Etsy or Ebay or Ravelry.
Hi, beautiful pattern stitch, do you have it for left handed?
No, sorry I don’t yet. I’d like to do this eventually. Send me an email to remind me and I’ll get it done for you.

Hi this stitch is beautiful, thank you for sharing. I have a question though, how would you make decreases in the rows?
Good question! Very similar to any decrease, just do two stitches together but for the second half of that 2 together only start it like a regular half double crochet, then pull through all loops. Please let me know if you try this and if it works.
@@LightandJoyDesigns Thank you for replying. I gave it a try and it works well, blends in with the overall pattern nicely. Thank you so much!
That's awesome! Glad to hear it worked for you!

Can you do this stich on a blanket?
Hi Mel. Yes! You could definitely use this stitch for a blanket. It would make a wonderful warm and thick blanket! Plus very cool looking! Do you plan to try it?
@@LightandJoyDesigns thank you. I am putting it in my list for a baby blanket
That’s awesome! If you remember, let me know if you post any pictures online. I’d love love live to see it!!
I thought I’d like to make it with blanket yarn but I’m afraid it will be too thick and take a lot of yarn. Am I correct?
blanket yarn might be too thick, but you could try a small swatch to see!
Do you have a video of a hat with this stitch?
No but it’s a great idea. Let me see if I can fit it in!
@@LightandJoyDesigns that would be great!
This is different from herringbone double crochet, which has a nice look but doesn't look like the knitted version.
this is actually oslo nalbinding has been around long before crochet and knitting 🤣
Thanks for this stitch 👍❤. I really love herringbone but it can be difficult in crochet.

There is a pattern for a beanie in the herringbone crochet sc stitch.
