+Fran Sands Doesn't Mayweather straighten out his back leg and spine when pulling back along with pulling his head to the side/back to roll with the punch.
+LeeWylie1 Thanks Lee, very much like your stuff too. The Duran scientific streetfighting vid still stands out for me though I do like to keep tabs on all your stuff.
+Fran Sands I always practice what I see you teach. For some reason I moved a step back about 99% of the time, now after this video, I'm doing your lean back with the legs only much more often. Again, great tip.
All your videos are excellent. Your channel is a hidden gem on youtube not getting the attention it deserves. There are so many fitness and combat sports channels on youtube run by people who havent got a clue which have millions of subscribers and generate a real income. You should consider remaking all of your videos with fancy graphics, music, guest appearances and clickbait titles & thumbnails. It might earn you a living that way, you deserve it!
Thank you, great suggestions. We'll see how it goes, I'll do my best to just keep producing solid (helpful) content...maybe some guests might be cool :-)
Great video, as always. not to undermine but do fighters sometimes purposely lay back from the waist? or is that more a case of being forced out of position?
+GamingComedyOriginals I don't really think shoulder rolling of that type should be tried by beginners. I certainly wouldn't teach it. I reckon Floyd uses it when he knows he can get away with it, not in really 'dangerous' situations.
Fran Sands Ok, thanks! I'm struggling a bit with aggressive opponents. If you could make a video on that too, that'd be great. Sorry for all the suggestions hahah :D
Why would a guy in his 40s/50s not be able to still move fast and box well? Men reach physical peak in late 30's. Pro athletes retire young because pro sports completely destroy your body. Good videos!
I've seen this successfully used in martial arts defending against a jab this way then immediately using a spinning backfist when against opponents of the opposite stance (southpaw vs orthodox or vice versa). It results in a spinning backfist (really its the forearm) landing on the neck at the base of the skull. Illegal these days in MMA, but effective. It places you outside the opponent after landing it. It's a nasty blow. Not a good place to get hit!
This is taught as one of the principle ways to dodge a kick to the ribs/neck in kickboxing before entering that mid punching range Unfortunately i've seen it deployed in your *how not to do it* example countless times in the amateurs
Mr. Boxing All Day yes not what mayweather uses at all,he’s is shoulder roll all covered up more in side stance and counters, this is traditional lean back but got to be very skilled and calm boxer to be using this stuff,
In this and other videos you say to use the legs to duck and to lay back and so on, which makes sense to me. But when I watch boxers it seems to me that they do a lot out of their back. They duck and they lean back by bending at their hips. See here for example: ua-cam.com/video/bQYeSXpC244/v-deo.html
this man is by far the best boxing coach on youtube

+Fran Sands Doesn't Mayweather straighten out his back leg and spine when pulling back along with pulling his head to the side/back to roll with the punch.
I've searched for months for a 'lean back' video where it's not a breakdown or added up with a counter. Finally, I'm successful. Thank you, sir.
By far the best online coaching you can find. Thanks

What do you think of Mayweather's shoulder rolling? Should beginners try it?
Awesome tip as usual!

+GamingComedyOriginals Same here buddy. How long have you been boxing for?
biggideal 3 months, once a week. Wbu?
GamingComedyOriginals That's pretty awesome, I've been boxing for ... damn, pretty much the same amount of time as you! 2 months and 2-3 weeks.
Still amazed by how well you move at your age. Looks like you can give some young bucks a run for their money.
+Chandasouk haha. I think that qualifies as a compliment :-) I'll take it though, beggars can't be choosers!!!

Good videos!
Do you have to drop your lead hand for the lay back, or keep up?
I would advise keeping it up Victor
Thanks for the tip coach.
slowly slowy im becoming a boxing demon
been boxing for years no one ever taught me this
+Rz Khan :-) - well worth the weight.
Like it...

Are you training anyone right now?
I got up most respect for you and admiration for your channel and work but you got 'the Mayweather lay back' horribly wrong sir
Not exactly Floyd's technique but decent movement in traditional boxing stance.

James Exactly Right
