I work as a pizza delivery driver and my company just bought a new car we don’t know the story of but I found an old mixtape in the glovebox and pushed it into the tape deck, it started off as old Metallica and guns n roses songs and then eventually a song I’d never heard of came on, that is how therapy? Got a new fan
Therapy? were the first band I saw live in Cardiff in the early 90’s and have been lucky enough to see them several times since. Awesome band live and still touring strong. If you ever get the chance to see them I would strongly recommend it 🤟
Therapy? was the first concert of my life. I think it was 1995 in Munich, Germany. Thank you guys! You opened up a new world to me and im still living in it!
This song reminds me of the mid/late 90s and the lonely, depressing and alienating times. Thanks Therapy haha. It was really difficult to find Converse in the UK in 1994.
In America we had a similar, but somewhat more R&B-influenced, band called the Afghan Whigs. The singers even look like they could be related, and both bands achieved about the same level of proto-fame. Sometimes it’s better to be influential than to be monetarily successful.
Agreed as a lifelong Wildhearts & Anti Nowhere league & manic Street Preachers fan the bands are still around but never got real notoriety beyond a smatter of breaking into the pop culture bubble every now and then.
I had a chat with a friend about the line "Shouting at the world you'll never change." We worked out it can be understood in a bunch of different ways. Imagine Andy is singing about a guy called Dave: 1. Dave is shouting at the world, but that won't change anything 2. Dave is shouting at the world, but he doesn't do anything to change it 3. There goes Dave, shouting at the world again. He'll never change. 4. Dave opens a window and shouts "You'll never change!" at the world. While 3 and 4 aren't very likely in context, it can still be interpreted that way and I always find those funny. I think there was another one, but I can't think what it was right now.
i got an idea for the number 5. a little bit like number 2, except that he does his best to change it : 5. Dave is shouting at the world, he tries to change the world, but he won't change it anyway
If there was a more life saving musing then i am a stupid. I used to listen to Therapy? every night at a Eltsin's Russia and Andy was a man. The best band ever
This song jhas the very special trait of having both wanted me to end my life but also saving my life. Which makes it a masterpiece in the world of art.
MY DAD that's no longer with me took me to see this band at the Garage Glasgow,it was day light ,Cairns opened by asking Glasgow, how the fuck are you....llf......I think I'm going insane.
Never forget when they came out was like yes this band will be massive. But ended up being the most underrated band of the 90s and still now.. Amazing live and always made the fans feel like they are noticed 🤘😈🤘🎸
I was a teenage kid in Far East of Russia and when i saw an MTV ad for the upcoming Troublegum album i knew that was mine. The most solid albums ever. T? You were great!!!
@@jeshkam Yeah, sorry, it was so long ago, I forgot I actually own that album and there's a big handful of great songs on it. But live they are and were not great at all.
The video's of my time (80-90) are unforgetful :) I'd like to see my kid's faces when they discover the contents of my NAS. It'll be like an international archive!
Driving through the fields in my best pal's old convertible on a warm summer night long past, coming from some fucked up party with the booze still pulsing in our blood, top down with the endless starry sky overhead and this song on tape, manual repeat, singing along. I can still feel the universe revolve around us with the song, such perfect moment in time. We were 20, and going nowhere. The future was an open road ahead. And we were happy.
The gym class I go to 5-6 times a week has an amazing playlist which includes this song among other classics. It brings me back to the mid 90's when I was at high school. Love it!
When this came out I remember reading that the night before the video shoot the drummer emptied his hotel room minibar and showed up to the set super hungover. I've seen this video before but I only just clocked how obvious it is in the few shots that he appears in. Ah well, lad. You got it right when it counted.
This album is the sound of the all-rough-edges teen boy inside of me!! And I’m a girl. That’s how good it is. It makes you *feel* the feeling. Also Ffyfe Ewing’s drumming. Longtime fan, still not wearing a tie! 😉

‘TROUBLEGUM’ was the first album I ever bought back in ‘94 when it first came out. What an amazing fucking record (though in hindsight I think I prefer ‘Infernal Love’. What a great start to a life-long obsession with music.

Best one
Masterpiece of the 90´s
This song never gets old
Definitely an influence on the 2000s/2010s pop-punk and emo bands, even if they don't realize it.
Staring at some pictures by yourself,
Something that you wanna have, but will never get...
My 90's anthem....

I played this song too loud
Neighbours called police
Police arrested neighbours
In an ideal world. 😎
I read this in the cadence of the song

What a coincidence...in the 90s I had a tape with on the A - side Therapy? and on the B - side Afghan Whigs.
The Whigs are cool, but Therapy? just do it like there's no tomorrow.

Agreed 🤝. Those songs from their early classic albums are like a Therapy to me 😄 the music is simple but perfect, the lyrics are really good
Looking forward to seeing these guys in November!
Una de las bandas que mejor define el concepto de Rock Alternativo de los 90s, bastante infravalorada.
26+ years ago and it does still rock ! These guys are really good.
