*Notes for if you're learning how to skateboard:*
1. Don't think you can become the best overnight, it takes time to master certain tricks.
2. You're gonna fall. It doesn't mean you suck, get back up and try again.
3. You might get a minor injury, it's apart of learning different tricks, or even just how to maintain balance on a skateboard.
4. Never compare yourself to others. Compare yourself to who you were when you first started.
5. Once you land a trick for the first time, get better at it. Don't try another trick after doing it once. For example, if you did your first ollie don't move onto a shuv or a kf. Keep at the ollie's and continue practicing them until you get hella comfortable doing aired ones every try.
6. Have as much fun as you can! Life is short, so just enjoy what you love!
Do you have to learn and practice in a skatepark?

I know not to compare myself to ohers but im 22 skating for 5 weeks now and i see 13 year old heel flipping into nose slides and treflipping next to me practicing ollies while rolling and i just die inside
I remember my first time at the skatepark where I wanted to learn how to dorp in because I saw other kids doing it. Long story short, I fell so many times that a really intimidating skater dude came over to me and taught me how to do it. I look back on this moment with gratitude for the kid that taught me. This was 2 weeks ago but still

How tf do people ride mongo that scares me I feel like I’m gonna fall off the board

Unfortunately for the first 14 years of my life I pushed mongo and was never told it was wrong but just like pushing regular you get used to it and your muscles learn to do it well
Now I can do both pretty well and sometimes just to piss people off I alternate while pushing up to an obstacle where I push mongo regular mongo regular

You dont ride mongo. You push mongo. I ride regular and push mongo and can do tricks easily. It's all in what you're comfortable with. It's hard to tell people not to ride regular or push mongo because you dont want to learn something that doesnt feel smooth for you.. that's why people invented the mongo push in the first place

So happy y’all are wearing helmets. I was so naive when I was a teenager. Never got a concussion skateboarding but got a severe one in hs being a dummy falling on my face drunk. Looking back I could have seriously hurt myself for life especially the crazy stuff I was trying back then
I am 16 and I always wear a helmet since I fell down a staircase at full speed. I didn't break anything, just got bruises. But I notivced how I almost fell on my head and that was when it clicked for me.
i always feel like i look stupid but i’m gonna wear one because my mom always made me wear one and i’m glad she did because i hit a rock and flew forward. i would’ve gotten a serious concussion and probably cut up my face pretty bad if i hadn’t been wearing one
I’ll personally never wear one, but people need to get off their high horse bullying those wearing them.

Grind trying to land kickflips. Trust me I only knew a couple tricks before kickflip and in the next 2 weeks I learned heelflips and varials, and front pop shuvits. Kickflips kind of start you off to being more confident skating.

Same here. Watching skate videos has made me want to skate so bad but there is no way I can afford a board any time soon. I have so much time on my hands because I can't find a job due to Covid-19 but I also have no money because I can't find a job due to Covid-19.
@@JesseNothing33 You know you can still get a job with covid going on? At one point they were crying out for essential workers like hospital porters etc.
Don't use covid as an excuse to not work. Also you have internet access so if you really can't find a job outside then do something online to tide you over. The internet has opened up a world of work.
If you really wanted to make some money you would. I had to respond cuz the amount of people that say things like they can't get a job, they can't earn money is ridiculous. If people really wanted to do something about it they would. 👍

Although Covid did ruin an amazing job opportunity that I had already had in the works before Covid and Covid may have made it a bit more difficult for me to find a decent job, I now have one of my very own. And I also now own a decent starter board in which I can upgrade parts as needed.
I wish I had had the board when I had more free time to learn and practice due my lack of employment. LoL. I just like to complain. 😜 But complaints and excuses are lame. I just happen to be excessively good at both.

Thanks for making this. I have been stuck without much progressions for a long time, but today I learned body varials and after that I was able to reapproach the pop shuvit and fs 180 which I barely had and had since lost. I got both back and even better than I originally had them. I think my commitment to skateboarding is going to be back and I will keep progressing.

I am learning how to ollie while rolling too. Technically already did, I did it today. But I found out that olling while moving is different from flat ollie (obviously). When you do it, you have to move your whole body forward, not just your legs. I think its just a bad habit from practicing without moving.
just try moving your upper body when you do it. oh and commit.
