Don't be a slave to the training plan, never run long s runs fast, that is what short runs are for. Run the Erie marathon flattest one out there with a really high 42% BQ rate. Good luck.
Olivia Cohee - I would have to say that those rules have changed. It used to be the rule across the board several years ago in all the running races I participated in (and that’s been 20 years worth), but as more & more people broke that rule, I guess change was necessary. Judging my just completed 2019 ‘Rock the Parkway’ 1/2 Marathon, I’d say that at least 50% of the runners had some type of device with headphones, earbuds, etc., attachments. Actually the one annoying runner didn’t have ear pieces and the audio voice was rather annoying as it spoke every few minutes the stats of where he was & how he was doing. It took me a couple of miles to get away from him.
JayBoi Nike - Actually, it was more like somewhere between 40-75 yards, depending on who’s leaving a comment. 4 miles was the original said distance. At that pace, he would’ve finished after dark.

There are a lot of people thinking he was faking it. He could have been. Well never know. All I know is a marathon sucks to run in if you don’t do it often or workout to prepare. I’ve worked out so hard that my body has become flaccid. Your mind wants to keep going but your muscles won’t work. It just doesn’t happen. Those who are quick to judge this guy probably have an ego issue and are insecure about themselves.
Marine didn't train at all for the marathon; that's embarrassing. What was he thinking? why even run a marathon if you didn't train for it?. Like he just got off the couch one day and jumped into a marathon race. Even a bad runner can finish the marathon without crawling if they trained for it.
povang - his shoes are brand new as well. And I mean straight out of the box just bought from the store 15 minutes prior to the run. I’m just saying something is amiss here with this guy.
Wow amazing But with all due respect can someone help me understand something. Why did bis legs give out if he was a marine. Don’t take this the wrong way he did an amazing job I was just confused and was kinda hesitant to ask but I decided to ask
He either didn't train properly, pace properly or fuel properly. My advice would be to stop where you couldn't run any more and come back next year. It is a running event!
Stunt to get attention for his cause. He trained just fine. Look at splits in the results. He cranked his way all the way until mile 24.7 Then he got really slow. I have no doubt he trained very well but he didn't repeat the heat. Personally I don't fuel during a marathon. I have not found anything that my stomach agrees with.

Do you know his medical history? How about showing some respect. Cause guess what he actually showed up to the arena. Where were you?
The AirPods sped him up
So he crawled for 5 miles? This looks a lot like a publicity stunt. Crawling would have hurt more than walking
JayBoi Nike So I guess the hundreds of people who saw him do it didn’t exist huh?
JayBoi Nike - Actually, it was more like somewhere between 40-75 yards, depending on who’s leaving a comment. 4 miles was the original said distance. At that pace, he would’ve finished after dark.
Rusty so yeah he knows the eyes of the world are on that finishline and figures I’m gonna get down and crawl the length of a football field....people eat this shit up! I know I sound cynical but come on? He couldn’t have walked it? I must say thank you to the marines and to him for his service and very sorry for his loss. But cmon
Why cant they prep well enough
Noone need this type of heroism
He prepped for sure. Look at his splits. he didn't respect the heat or he was doing a stunt.
THIS GUY SHOULD BE ASHAMED AND PUBLICLY OUTED FOR THE FRAUD HE IS!!!!!!!!!
Umm...the other stories mentioned seemed to be quite legit and inspiring.
His full story is actually quite inspiring. I recommend you look up his interview with ESPN.
What it’s all about😊😊
Wow amazing
But with all due respect can someone help me understand something.
