Fighting Gravity! Trains Passing Up & Down The Hill With Hard Working DPU Locomotives! Monsters!

- HUGE, HEAVY Trains On The Hill! Working Hard Sanding The Rails! Norfolk Southern Trains With DPUs and mixed freights with almost every freight car from the yard. These trains are in Crescent Springs, Kentucky on the Cincinnati owned Rat Hole Line. A flange greaser on the hill and 4 monster trains trying to stay under control on the steepest and curviest part of the hill. These trains are running between the Ohio River and Erlanger, Kentucky.
The first train is a heavy train going up the hill, sanding the rails with a DPU on the rear. While this train is going up the hill we have an even longer train with a DPU in the middle going down the hill. Check out the depressed springs on the loaded cars.
We also have a couple more trains going down the hill with all kinds of mixed freight. The railroad crossing here gets blocked by trains for long periods of time. These are very long trains and it's no wonder that people will run the gates or turn around and go another way. Too bad they aren't railfans. Lol. We also have a boxcar with an open door. A good ride for someone.
This is the line that Cincinnati is trying to sell to Norfolk Southern for 1.6 billion dollars. Residents of Cincinnati will soon be voting to either sell the railroad or keep it. It leases for over 25 million a year. We also see another car wreck that had the road closed on my long way home. Don't forget the pets and the slide show that comes from the video.
Filmed Wednesday, September 27, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

"A fusion of entertainment and enlightenment..."OUTSTANDING!
Glenn Beck!
Yesss! I hope he starts EVERY video with that. I may have to start my videos that way, if he doesn't 😂
Very interesting video my dear friend! Have a nice new week! Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
Excellent catching all the trains, Brian, thank you.
1110 Methyl Amyl Ketone- Highly flammable
You have videos of some of the longest trains. You are the King of Trainspotting JT.
Wow, thanks!
Excellent catching the train-meets in Crescent Springs, Kentucky, Brian, thank you.
Thank you too!
The second train is a whole variety pack. I love it! ❤❤❤
Thank you for this video of your 27 September 2023 trip to Crescent City, Kentucky to railfan The Hill coming up from the Ohio River Valley, Jaw Tooth! You caught only one train coming up The Hill and three trains going down The Hill. Usually there are more trains going up The Hill. Another unusual aspect of this video was that you were on the opposite side of Beechwood Road from where you usually stand to capture two of the sequences in this video.
Great trains! Aerosol cheese - cool doggy idea. Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
Indeed, a true fusion of entertainment and enlightenment, a staple of the Jaw Tooth channel we have come to know and appreciate! Thanks again for your work JT ! 👏🏻
Our pleasure!
I don't know. I need to get back over there. I haven't been there in a while. Sunday I might be filming a steam engine@@FabianDiazTrainsTrucksNCars
Happy sunday everyone
The DPU sounds great!! 😊😊😊😊❤❤
Whew that DPU cranking along! 😮
GM HAVE A GREAT DAY ❤
Wow!! What a day for giant loads up and down the hill, and I'll bet the TIRES are getting pretty worn out!
Another awesome video from Jaw Tooth. Have a nice day 😊🌈
Great Video Jawtooth!
Thanks!
Nice footage of NS ascending and descending the grade JT,those flange greasers help with friction on the rails and wheels!🛤🚂
hello jaw it's is randy and i like yours video is cool thanks jaw friends randy
The hill with some hard working engines and DPUs great freight which makes for a great video thanks Brian
That DPU was working hard on train number one! Love that electric Green shirt you are wearing!
Yes! Thank you!
I was surprised but the weight per gallon is only 6.8 lbs. That must have been a 30,000 gallon tank. 😊
I found out years ago when I was a kid those are railfan greasers. Didn't watch where I was crossing the tracks and slipped and fell in the stuff. When I got home my mom was fit to be tied when she saw my cothes. Then my Dad had the great idea to soak them in diesel fuel to soften up yhe grease but no matter how many times they were washed the smell of diesel fuel stayed. Live and learn...... Where's the strageically placed flat car when you need it to see the other power? At least you got the EOT DPU bonus. Definitely a hard slog on the hill today but some great action. Liked it immensely, thanks JT!
I kept looking at those grainers thinking shoe string might be riding😂
Imagine getting fast food and sitting by the tracks seeing the train go by. Perfect
JT that second train will really fill up the Queens gate yard😮
Well I was entertained big time JT . Splendid video .🇬🇧
❤ what watching your trains I give you a double thumbs up job well done keep up the good work that was a real good video I enjoyed it you keep up the good work and be safe
Thank you very much!
Awesome capture
Good stuff Mr Jawtooth.
Good morning to you, JT!!
Morning!
UN 1110 is n-amyi methyl ketone. 😊
Good Sunday morning JT. Another great video
Thanks 👍
Thanks for the film JT, keep filming those UN plates on the freight cars, I enjoyed looking up the difference hazardous materials that get shipped around. You don’t see much variety in the auZk anymore.
This was a really great video today
with all of the trains going across
those tracks there and seeing the
power that they all have, that was
really awesome to see, also of course
the pets with your dogs making an
appearance in this video, Thank You
very much Jaw Tooth.🤠👍🇺🇲
🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲💨
Awesome video with a dpu working hard on a heavy grain train and a dpu working hard on a freight train but wait there’s more 👍😎🇺🇸🚂👍
Great action !! Thank you Jaw Tooth.
Thank you too!
Good Morning.. Fall is in the air and first frost on the roof!!!
Morning!
@jonwatt678 watching from Scotland, 2 degrees this morning, had to scrape the frost from the windscreen 🏴🇬🇧…
@@aldo5428 I guess we all know what's coming. Stay warm!
Sometimes those extra tall open hopper cars a used to transport wood chips ( fairly common to see in Georgia).
I remember seeing a (mechanical) flange lubricator out side where I worked (1985) on the CSX main going east to north east out of the big yard in Atlanta. They filled the thing about 2 times a week. ;-)
Hello.from.australia❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
How lucky you are. To get two trains at a time. So cool Mr JT. Awww a DPU.pushing hard......yes. awesome 👍Always love seeing your animals at the end. Very enjoyable to see. Thank you for making our day. Take care!❤😊
Thanks! You too!
Awesome, railroading at its finest right here. Two big trains with hard working DPUs meeting on the hill, doesn’t get any better my friend. Well done JT.
Thank you very much!
@@JawTooth you’re welcome Jaw tooth, take care.
Hi! Great video Brian! Thanks so much for sharing!
Another great video JT.thanks again for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it Rick!
Those were some long trains, almost thought you were in Hamilton! At least it wasn't raining. 😂thank you Brian. Stay safe roll on. That is a bummer waiting on traffic. Thank you for the effort
Thanks 👍
I feel your frustration in the traffic. I'm in Mlps MN and I know 🙄. I think that down hill train that backed up all the traffic was the longest one ever. 13 minutes. Thanks for a fun video.
thanks for watching!
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo et très bon dimanche ! 🌟
Epic video JT!
🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃💯👍🇺🇸
Loki, the doG of Mischief. Nice.
Awesome 👍 Great videos 👍
Amazing videos jaw tooth keep up the good work
Thanks! Will do!
Awesome L-O-N-G trains! Good catches all! Thanks for bringing me along!❤
Traffic issues remind us why we need more passenger rail services!
WOW WOW jt what an awesome video it had everything you could tell how hard the first train was working up the hill, the second was so long with all kinds of wagons/ freight. This railroad has to stay. Thank you for all you do to bring us the entertainment, & your furbabies too. ❤😊
Big hard working trains.
Nice catches.
wow what a long train
That single train going down hill is the one you get when you're on your way to work or in a hurry to go somewhere.
I wish that I could get out there and travel with you, but the MS makes that impossible. I remember when I could get out there and do what you are doing---very good memories!!!
Good one JT. Several other's have mentioned it but UN 1110 is Methyl Amyl Ketone, according to my DOT Emergency Response Guidebook. Glad the 1st train got by soon enough to see most of the 2nd one, which was a long train. The interstates and major highways are like that every day around here (St. Louis) too J.T. Sad. But thanks for a great video.
That DPU was working hard nice NS DPU glad you caught it jaw tooth:)
Also what trains operate this railroad?
Finally DPU ICU!!
Yup lol
Fabulous!
Very difficult to comprehend just how much material can be moved by one or two locomotives.
I've considered calculating out how many '18 Wheel' tractor trailers it would take to move the equivalent of what one hopper car contains, but never have gotten around to it.
I greatly enjoy your videos, Jaw Tooth, and would like to be able to treat you to lunch/dinner sometime, as an expression of my gratitude for you sharing your professionalism and talent, but that's probably not feasible. Let me know though, if you think it could happen, and I'll continue watching. (I'm slowly getting through your old videos too)
May God's hand of safety continue to be with you, and may His blessings continue to be given to you.
I've thought about that too. It's easy with the intermodal trains: One container equals one tractor trailer.
JT - On your game. Great banter, and 3 amazing trains. That’s some serious commerce going by. The downhill train was amazing. Loaded to the gills, and scared to cut it loose, he rode brakes all the way down. Nice speed, too, as you can catch every nuance at 20-30 mph. That was $millions$ in freight. This country is a awash in money💰💴‼️ An amazing video, by my favorite Ohio RF. Run for Governor on the ‘Train’ ticket. Nobody could compete. You could make railfanning the State Sport, and get the government back on track! Outlaw trains with no caboose, put 3 back on a crew, and restart the Nickel Plate, the Chessie, and bring back intrastate passenger service. The drive from Queen City to the Forest City is 5 grueling hours. On a good day. Open up Youngstown-Akron-Findlay corridor again. Great cities. Lots of Buckeyes living there! 🌞😎‼️
Wow! The NS with the UP helper was a long train, too. Do locomotives have anything like low gear to help them slow down on hills? Or do they rely solely on the brakes?😊😊
They have dynamic brakes. That turns the electric motors, in the trucks, into generators, then that power is fed to giant resistor strips, which are cooled by fans. This action causes braking, which really takes a lot of load off the friction brakes.
Had a CSX roll past here the other night, 624 axles, all locos were cranking. It was heading northbound towards Marion, out of Powell near Hyatts. Come check out that Wye 😉 can hear the Ford Rd defect detector on 160.230.
I take it that’s I-75 tooth? It definitely has its share of accidents! From down here by me in Florida all the way up by you!
It was actually I-275 but only a few miles east of I-75
Managing the slack is a tough job. One wrong brake application can put the train on the ground.
That is one really long train! I appreciate you calling out that UN number JT. Shipping hazardous materials was my job for a long time and I always wonder what's in placarded cars. 😊😊😊
Thanks again!
Я люблю тебя и твои родики.
Wow big trains 🚆 work hard nice 👌 👏 👍
Thank you very much!
Hey jaw tooth if you want to see trains on steep hills go-to Richmondville Cobbleskill NY my mom's area . At warnerville there's a very steep grade . Have a great railroad day 🚂🙋♀️
No placard- empty. 1987 - Ethanol. Loads of that and hot asphalt. 1267- Crude oil. 1993 #2 fuel oil. 1887-Bromochloromethane-Halon1011 fire suppressant for data centers.
Nice Video
Thanks for the visit
Fantastic video JT and awesome catch on those LOOOOONG trains!!! Boggles the mind how many millions of lbs of freight are going by on those tracks. Enjoyed it!! Thank you!!
I live by a port. During harvest the grain trains stack up to load ships for markets far away.
Cool! That would be interesting to see
Great video, JT!!! I love it! 😊😊❤❤❤
Thank you!! 😁
Good video
😅cool that file,on the interstate. i was also in one file from LA to San diego in oktober 1998.😅
Scott and I got stuck in a wreck on Interstate 75 in Dayton Ohio right after I was telling him about all the wrecks that I keep seeing
I enjoyed the video👍👍
I get to enjoy watching on my 31st Birthday. Sweet
Cool, happy birthday!
Thanks JT
1110 Amyl Methyl keytone. Something you don't want to mess with
Good videos jaw tooth
I enjoy seeing two trains at one time, especially when you have a DPU in there, I do have question are most of the DPU un-manned or do you have someone in there. Enjoy your videos...
Judging by the prefix on those empty grain cars that train is heading to Indiana to reload in Railroad Tie Spiker area.
There is a good chance. Thank s for watching!
I like train videos on UA-cam jawtooth dpu alright 👍
HEY JT .. YOU HAVE TO WATCH MASSIVE CN TRAINS THRU FALL FOLIAGE - TRACKSIDE TYSON .. JUST OUTSTANDING VIDEO AGAIN
Nice Video!
🍄🌹🇮🇳🌹🍄
Thanks for watching!
I have a question from the UK where twenty wagons is a long train. Why don’t the flange greasers make the loco wheels slip? Also the idea of a loco on the rear is almost unheard of over here. The last place it was common was the Lickey incline near Birmingham. Two miles at 1 in 37. The pushing loco had to be manned and not coupled to the rest of the train so it could drop away from the train at the top and make its way back down. For many years there was an 0-10-0 loco that spent its entire life pushing trains up the incline.
Awesome video, those trains are long.
Thanks for watching Celio!
Ac44C6M leading and for DPU.jeez they’re working hard.
😅thanks for the video,was cooool againg. greetz:🍐Peer.
Thanks! 😃
@@JawTooth 😂you are very welkom.☕🥧
RE: UN 1110 - As a current or former volunteer firefighter, I’m sure you know the “yellow book” on Hazmat. If you don’t already have it on your phone, “there’s an app for that”. Looks up all the numbers and has the appropriate guide page.
😅i have see one video where they build the CSX loks, huge transmision box, thats the power.😅
Good morning Jaw Tooth okay first train three engines 88, the second train 172 cars, The 3rd train 162 cars and the fourth train 76 cars that's approximately
The engineers on those trains coming down the hill most likely had 6 pounds of air set so that when or if they have to go to 10 pounds, it will happen lightning quick!!!
The early bird gets the worm top of the morning jawtooth
Incredible video. grain trains on a grade of any sort must be really hard on couplers.
Thank you very much!
14:20 Having the messed up traffic: I will guarantee that the people behind the gates are praying that there’s not another train coming down the hill, at least until the second one clears!! I wonder, especially with the hill there if the railroad doesn’t try to space trains out, so it doesn’t completely cut off areas.
