where is the restart button???
Very well done. Only difference for me was I had to download the Windows 8 recovery and put this on an USB flash drive because my recovery portion was removed some how b4 I received the Surface Pro 3 in my shop. Once I had the USB flash drive inserted in the tblet it worked great. Thanks for this video.
+Extreme RC where does you download this recovery? Is it a normal instalation disk?

Phantrash Tumblr what you do it change your keyboard setting on the right side of the screen.. you should be able to change it 3 different ways and make sure it's the one that looks like an actual keyboard and then follow the instructions he gives you.

When I click on Troubleshoot it only has 2 options: UEFI Firmware Sertings and Startup Settings. I need to restore this so I can sell it and when I try to by going to Update & Security, Recovery, Reset this PC, and Remove Everything it says, "Could not find the recovery environment." I bought this 2nd hand, so I don't have an original Product Key or any other device for recovery data. I have a Surface Pro 3 running Windows 10.

Febbario yes i did i just brought it to microsoft and they said that was the only thing to do because a virus is eating the recovery software
just go downloading media creation tool and re-install win 10. All problems will be solved then.
I had the same issue, start over...just turn off the device and start over...Press and hold the right shift button with the left hand and reset using the right hand and the touch screen functions. Gl everyone.

I have a surface pro 3, and just upgraded the machine to Windows 10 Pro. It also has Bitlocker enabled. Windows 10 install went fine. I installed Avast virus scan software, and now it will not boot. How do I get the surface to boot to recovery or get out of this blue screen

hey I tried resetting the normal way (not via recovery but though the settings app) and when I did it said it couldnt remove all my personal files but everything booted up just fine and all my files were gone...did my surface reset properly? I had a malware before resetting but now the security scans say its gone..but I feel like the malware didnt allow a proper reset

Mine is asking for the key now.. What key, went to Microsoft webpage like it asks and I can't find where to enter the key ID which it provides but not the key apparently. I am going to try this again in a few days and if it don't work it's going in the dumpster. A shame to it's 2 weeks old and all I did was turn it on and set a password and never touched it tell today

If the only issue is that you do not know the password, using Ubuntu on a flash drive to boot from, and then just update the password, would be a lot easier.

+Richard Mackling (Mackling101) Same with any computer, all you need is another bootable device/media and you can a) access their files if they are not encrypted, or b) reset their device.
+Vizkos yeah, but it's seriously not as easy as reformatting from the user screen.

...this is not the good way, it's a Surface 3 not RT model. You need to create a Windows 10 bootable key and install Windows 10, same as a PC installation. Thumb down.

What if you don't have a physical keyboard?
Swipe in from the right edge of the screen and tap Settings.Tap or click Change PC settings > Update and recovery > Recovery.Under Remove everything and reinstall Windows, tap or click Get Started.Tap or click Next, and choose either Just remove my files or Fully clean the drive.Tap or click Reset.
