My menopause was horrendous. Single parent, stressful professional job and looking after my elderly parents. I tried every single natural treatment, tried hrt, couldn't get on with it. My bingeing got worse, I piled on 3 stone which I just can't lose. I am not the same person. I still have night sweats. I have vaginal oestrogen as I wasn't prepared to give up on my sex life. Menopause for me has been the gift that kept on giving. The best thing is no periods.

It's so interesting how our culture wants to condition us to despair over this change of life, when it actually can be quite liberating.

Yasss thanks for covering this topic! My early surgically induced perimenopause affected my body identity deeply! And my energy to care for myself etc etc. It is sooo linked to food, hunger, depression, self care, body sensations, proprioception, sleep disorders. Ugh, I'm exhausted!
Loved the question about how to handle food during this time as resistance isn't the answer!! Resistance is actually dangerous for me and sets up binge cycles.
