What this cyber attack does is highlight the unaffordability of US healthcare. People DO die annually from lack of ability to afford care and medicine. This attack basically removes the safety net of insurance and pushes the issue into the faces of those who don’t recognize what a problem this really is. It compresses the number of deaths into a small timeframe to show just how lack of affordable health is deadly. Our healthcare system was the elephant in the living room and the elephant is beginning to move. I feel sorry for the frontline pharmacists. Oh, here’s some advice: Just say, “No!” to sickness and don’t go skydiving this weekend!😅
Don't disagree about the unaffordability of healthcare in the US, but this same hacking group hit the UK's NHS last year and they have universal healthcare. The news coverage there seems to be more focused on the impact to patients of the inability of providers to access their records to provide appropriate care and the stress to patients of knowing their private information is unprotected. It really highlights having the risks of having monopolies, having a small number of very high value targets.
It’s not just affecting pharmacies!
I had to pay 30 dollars for a 5 day supply or else it would have been 150 for the whole prescription. Nothing can be ran through my insurance
I’m a home health nurse and my boss literally hasn’t gotten paid in weeks. This is affecting any company in healthcare. The United healthcare is a clearinghouse for almost all major insurances, including Optum which is for our veterans. Smaller clinics and hospitals are having to take out mortgages just to pay their employees. My boss has to loan from the federal government to pay us. This is insane and scary and I hope UHC gets a huge fine over this. They are clueless and had no plan for a cyber attack even though they cover all these other insurances!
The title is confusing… It’s Change Healthcare … not the entire United Healthcare system.
It's just a distraction from the real problem Healthcare cost.
So let me get this, a hacker attacks Unitedhealth and saves the insurance company millions in claims they can't pay. And who benefits? The insurance company perhaps. Sounds like a cyber deal.
Working for health insurance: they can still physically mail in claims and there’s other systems they can use for electronic claims so insurance companies are still paying and processing claims
Who's getting fired at Change Healthcare?
When solve this issue
When the migrants leave. Never
Roll those costs on down to those customers!
Legal system allows huge awards so prices must be high.
I suspect that the grumbling that has gone on to like minded friends and to oneself about the cost of healthcare may switch to outward displays. Perhaps this was the goal?
Oh boy! Another problem with the US Healthcare! what's new?
Working in health insurance: they can still physically mail in claims also there’s other systems for electronic claims not just the one mentioned. Might be slower but everything is still running
Hopefully there are paper records, and everything isn't digital. The digital records are gone.
Wonder if this has connections to att outage
O great, the f b I. ? Lmao
Wow I told my wife it was the Russians but I was just kidding!
Blame CHINA!
Russia actually. Was the Russian hacker group Blackcat.
