Love this vase. Not a woodturner myself, but I wonder if you could increase the amount of wood exposed relative to resin by gluing your cutoff pieces onto the burl before casting. Manzanita is such beautiful wood!
I agree about the color. The wood was pretty light without finish, but really darkened once I put oil or the resin finish. That said, I’m pretty terrible at photography and I think it works better in person compared to the video. I have another piece that I’m thinking of doing with a bright blue and white mix, but I’m open to suggestion of you have any!
I notice you drill a hole to use compressed air to de-mold your projects… does that mean you throw away each of the plastic mixing cups and pitchers you use as molds????
Love the shape. Colors are striking.
Yo that thing is gorgeous. The thick clear coat really brings out the rest of the features.
Thanks very much
That is beyond beautiful!

This one is one of your master pieces 👋👍
Thank you so much 😀
Wow... looks AMAZING... great piece 😁👍💙
Thank you!
I think that is an excellent shape and well proportioned. Maybe a more contrasting color against the wood, but very nice piece.

Il est magnifique ! Dommage qu'on ne voit pas plus de bois. 👍

Very nice but if you didn't want to "lose too much of this amazing wood" I would have used a lighter blend, more transparent resin.
to answer your question, No, you've done better.
After all that you end up with very little of the "amazing wood." The vase is 80% resin and so dark you can't see the wood.
