There are questions being raised about issues at the Detroit Fire Department. There are not enough vehicles, rigs are missing equipment, and firefighters are concerned.
The fire apparatus replacement scene has changed immensely since the plandemic. Lead times on most heavy fire vehicles is twice what it once was - up to 24 months in some instances. Departments and municipalities need to consider this in their fleet replacement intervals, and when planning and designing phases start. Also, parts for repairing existing vehicles are almost always backordered. Not to mention the workforce of qualified technicians has dwindled. It’s a perfect storm for public service.
WE THE MEMBERS.. have done so much.. for so long ...with so little... WE are now qualified to do anything with nothing..God's speed my Brothers...keep each other safe😎
This is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen. So u mean to tell me that these FFs have to respond in these situations!? How are they gonna do their jobs with this type of equipment? Buffalo Fire is in need of equipment also and nothing is being done to help those guys either. What’s it gonna take for injuries to happen to one of them or a civilian. We pay taxes for a reason, we want those FFs to be save and ourselves. Ridiculous that those guys have to go through that situation like that. They can’t say anything just deal with the BS from the city officials. I support the FFs 💯
This has been something that’s been going on for many many years. And it’s not just 1 thing you can blame. It’s a multitude of things that have lead up to what your seeing. How many house fires of “abandoned” buildings are posted on UA-cam more then I can count. But if you don’t have a tax base there to help pay for these things you can’t expect to get blood from a stone there. Trust me we have a fully paid fire dept in the one municipality here in my county and a couple of years ago they had to request not 1,2 but 3 SAFER GRANTS to help pay for the fire fighters. Why because Newburgh isn’t the safest of places and if you don’t have a tax base to help pay for things you can see why they had to request the grants because the budget wasn’t there for the department to keep the fire fighters. So they had to beg to get the grants and that does require the municipality to match the funds but as you can see if you need it like 3 times in a row and usually it’s only 2 times you can get it shows how bad things are.

Detroit seems to always have problems with its fire vehicles over the decades

Wheres the money going to???
Unless im wrong a squad is basically a rescue. Why would you need six. Milwaukee is close in population and has two.
Good reporting
I hope this is just the News looking for something to stir the pot & not the dept falling back on old ways
Why do they need 6 Squads? Get larger Rescue trucks or equip ladder companies with rescue gear.
Get'em

That's not good. They need to build newer firehouses citywide to purchase new pumpers, ladders (including rear-mount platforms) and ambulances.
Where is the money going to come from, if the city doesn't have the tax dollars then who is going to pay for it?
I thought they just replaced quite a few rigs. They must not have a good fleet department.
The DFD should have NEVER invested ANY money in rigs from HME to begin with! BIGGEST waste of the taxpayers dollars…
WHERE'S OUR TAX PAYER MONEY BEEN GOING??
Whatever taxes they do get is given back out as handouts because nobody works. Classic Detroit
The city personel live in million dollar houses
The only thing Detroit Fire department cares about is politics.
