Not sure if it's been done yet, but "A Day in the Life" of a Hazmat or Heavy Rescue driver would be epic. Thank you SMFR for always helping the community & educating people about the Fire Service.

That red call sign for airport trucks is very interesting because it seems that is in fact everywhere. I'm from Little Rock, Arkansas and the three airport fire trucks there are Redball 1, Redball 2 and Redball 3.
The fire apparatus @ Piedmont Triad International in Greensboro, NC are Smokey units (Smokey 1, Smokey 2, ect.). Also, the station is Station 100, being redesignated from 10 after the merger of Guilford County and Greensboro fire dispatch.
Yes they do. In fact the old red 2 was the smaller one. If I am correct old Red 3 became the back up to all of them. Trying to remember from the video if old red 2 is now Red 3?
Station 35 is on the north side of the Airport and was originally a Castlewood Fire Station. Station 44 is on the south side of the airport and was originally Parker Fire Station 74.
As a former ARFF I love seeing the ARFF trucks. Is there a dedicated ARFF crew on Red 2 that will rotate to the engine and medic? While the newer stations are nice I like the older houses (I started in the fire service in 1992). Thank you.
This yellow-ish/green-ish color of Red 2 will be the new mandatory color for all ARFF vehicles in the US as the FAA has expressed their intent on adopting this rule already in effect in european airports in an effort to make this a worldwide norm. It is not currently mandatory, but the FAA already advises new apparatus be painted this way as they will change their rules in the forseeable future. So it's not really tradition, but more future-proofing by SMFR fleet management.
sciphol amsterdam a european airport has red crashtenders. so i do not know from when this color became mandatory but shciphol has not yet implemented it
@@rubenjanssen1672 Well, the dutch are kinda famous for being ... a little different when it comes to air traffic regulations. They pissed of IATA more than one time in the past :) But you are right, I can't find any hard regulation on the colour of ARFF vehicles in europe at the moment, so maybe I was misremembering that it was already mandatory. But it definitively is a recommendation in most european countries, just like it already is a recommendation by the FAA, because ICAO is pushing all members to at least recommend the colour after multiple studies have found that this is a very "attention-grabbing" colouring (alledgedly because it doesn't exist in nature, but that's just a nice anecdote, the high-vis effect is meassurable).

Recently went through just north of South Metros district. I didn’t even realize it until I saw a north metro station. I have to say you’re area is beautiful. Do you notice the views of the mountains everyday or are you used to it?
Hello - South Metro Fire Rescue Centennial, Colorado - I got a few questions. Question 1. Is there anyway that you could please do more Fire Medics Episodes please. Question 2. Is there anyway that you could maybe please do more do day in the life as a (something about a firefighter) please. Thanks P.S I was just wondering about the two questions hopefully you could please answer my questions - let me know please. Thanks
I agree with more Fire Medics. As for the day in life they have pretty much covered every position involved in operations. Guess they could do administrative positions and watch people sit at a desk and/or in meetings for 20 to 30 minutes 🤣 Actually I would like to see day in the life of logistics and facilities...You know the backbone of any business or organization.
Thank you Kim Connor Eric and Lauren how I miss you guys thank you for the fleet Fridays PIO vlogs and station Saturday your friend in Springfield Missouri kyle
The current staffing model for the tiller is 4 personnel including an officer, engineer and 2 firefighters. One of the firefighters will drive the rear.
Do you have some voice robot which speaking all unit to the mission? In Finland we have similar voice which coming from radio. We call those system: Erica voice robot.
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO We have still sometimes problems and issues whit those: large hospital, where was multiple independents automatic fire alarm systems which automatic give signal to fire station. So when the fire start in the building, smoke extend all over hospital and launch multiple fire alarm systems. Because those systems are independents, they didn't know that there are already units coming in the scene. So Erica give alarm almost all fire station in south of Finland...

With the health/fitness culture of South Metro, I’m sure this captain is fit for duty. Not to mention, with his age also comes years and years of exposure and experiences with numerous incidents that can be passed on to the younger crew. Never count out the old guys, as long as they’re still willing to put in the work and do the job. They’re an amazing resource. Show a bit of respect.
Portland Fire had a Firefighter retire a few years back that was in his late 70s or early 80s. Still fit for duty and passing medical and physical testing. Only reason he was retiring was because his wife wanted to vacation more before they got to "old". Knew another guy who got hired full time at age 45 smoked everyone on the CPAT, He retired at 70. Then there's me 100 pounds overweight and was still passing yearly physical abilities and medical exams. Our new BC of training could not believe I did the wild land pack test (45 pound vest for 3 miles in 45 minutes or less) in 42 minutes. So he made me do it again so he could time me I did it in 39 minutes. Never underestimate us fat and/or old guys Lol.
I’m majorly in love with this department, excellent job by everyone I love love love when the firefighter speaks about the history of their station.
man this series is awsome

Great review of Station 44 and it's history, and explanation of your responsibilities. Great video too.

Should put Red 2 on Fleet Friday, that would be great to get a tour of that rig and see what it can do.

Good video, did the station have to extend the apparatus bay for Red2 to fit?
Thanks! The bay did not have to be modified to fit the new Red 2.
This was filmed on a Monday. I think I deserve a patch.
Whens the next Station Saturday being produced? It's a really interesting series that seems to have disappeared!?
What are you all going to do when your out of stations to visit?
We'll tour both training facilities, the warehouse and headquarters.

orinda fire district in California
It's possible that a former SMFR Firefighter works there, but I don't know for sure. - Eric

Had a question about the tiller. Is it still gonna be a crew of 4 or will it now be 5?
The current staffing model for the tiller is 4 personnel including an officer, engineer and 2 firefighters. One of the firefighters will drive the rear.
Where do you guys get the Federal Signal cue to bees from? Also. My name is Kellan. Can you give me a shout out on your next video
How many hours are you guys on shift in the south metro fire department?
I think they’re 48/96. So two days on, 4 days off.
Do you have to live within the SMFR districts to work for you guys?
South Metro does not have an in-district residency requirement for employment.
When is the next station Saturday
When station 37?
Bit off topic… there’s no way your top medic salary is 441,912 dollars… I was that on Firehouse
Top Fire Medic salary for 2023 is $114,239.
How is Red manned? Engine company splits crew?
The Red is cross staffed by Engine 44. When an airport incident occurs the crew of 4 personnel leaves the Engine and staffs Red 2.
Whens the next one?
Let’s goooooo
The Capt. definitely leads by example and being involve with his men and women.
