Zakk Sabbath: Behind the Wall O' Doom

- Опубліковано 9 лип 2022
- Formed in 2013 Zakk Sabbath set forth to be the ultimate Black Sabbath tribute band, and rightfully so, two of its three performers, Zakk Wylde, and Blasko, are cemented members of Ozzy Osbourne's solo band.
Rounding out the rhythm section with Joey Castillo (Queens of the Stone Age, Circle Jerks) Zakk Sabbath has spent the last 8 years touring the world bringing a reenvisioned yet authentic take on Black Sabbath with lower tunings, heavier beats, and the unmistakable flair of Guitarist Zakk Wylde.
In this documentary, Zakk Sabbath celebrates the 50-year anniversary of Black Sabbath's first self-titled album by recording it in its entirety at Zakk Wylde's world-famous recording studio, The Black Vatican. From start to finish we see the band record each song with commentary from each of its members plus interviews from Rock and Metal Legends and contributors such as Henry Rollins (Black Flag) and Don Jamieson (That Metal Show) plus the up-and-coming new generation of rock from Mlny Parsons (Royal Thunder) and then going to the source, The Prince of Darkness Himself, Ozzy Osbourne.

No Sabbath? No Pantera! Thank you for paying tribute to both Zakk. We love you bud!
There would be alot of bands that wouldn't exist not just pantera
Because he’s a legend
I don't care what anyone else thinks, but that first Black Sabbath album is the best debut album of all time and certainly the best I've ever heard!!
Any one of their albums could have been the best debut album of all time. They created a genre that couldn't be compared to anything else.
@@chaseme9860 couldn't agree more!
I always think about "Black Sabbath"&"Paranoid" as a double album.
@@marktuohy1088 Yeah, every album is incredible for what kind of creation they were aiming for. Sometimes I'll spend an afternoon going through their catalog and I'm still amazed that every album would seem like a flagship album. I can't think of any other band that has a catalog (Ozzy years) that is capable of this. 8 masterpieces all in a row.
I think if Jimmy Hendrix lived, Iommi would have blown him away in his day, and I am a fan of Hendrix
Been listing to Black Sabbath for 57 years!
How is that? Unless you're somehow referring to a time before they became Black Sabbath? They only became Black Sabbath and played their first show as Sabbath just under 55 years ago.
Ozzy Osbourne, Bill Ward, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler.... I will die a happy man knowing I loved everything you guys gave us. I just wish everyone could know and understand the profound contribution they gifted us with.
I’ve always enjoyed Zakk’s playing, but I think I like it even better when he inserts his style into the Iommi context.
I was just thinking that, I llike the more simplistic bluesy leads he's doing rather than the 100-notes-a-second stuff.
Black Sabbath is the first and only book of Heavy metal, the genesis of the genre. Even today, Sabbath manages to be heavier than many metal bands today. The originality of Sabbath's sound broke boundaries. Black Sabbath remains the most important and emblematic heavy metal band in history.
If anybody should bring a tribute to Black Sabbath it's Zakk Wylde. Zakk Sabbath show in Amsterdam was way beyond insane and it's in my top 3 shows/concerts ever!!
AMEN BROTHER 🤘🏻
If I had a time machine, I'd follow a clueless record buyer from the store after he bought the first Sabbath album and be a fly on the wall watching him listening to the album opener, just to see his face when the first riff hits him after the thunder and bells...🤘
I was that guy, never looked back since, then spent the next who knows how many years being asked "What do you listen to that racket for". Took many years but I think most of them got it eventually :)
Hey man I had a time machine and I did exactly that but the guy saw me hiding behind his curtains cuz I was wearing orange crocs… his mom and dad called the cops and they took me to jail ended up spending three days in booking cause it just so happened there was a holiday that weekend. Not worth it at all
I grew up in a little country town in missouri in the early 70s i did lighting with a band that were my friends- we would rent out community centers and play black sabbath tunes- cost a dollar to get in- what fun memories
Ozzy is so lovely, i basically understand 20% of what he is saying but i just love him!!
Portland- Roseland Show was AWESOME....THANK YOU
They need to record ALL the Sabbath albums. I'm sure they would have the blessing of Sabbath to do so. They need to keep it alive and nobody does it better
❤❤❤ Love Ozzy, Love Black Sabbath, Love Zakk Sabbath! So happy Zakk has kept this music going for future generations to experience and love!!!❤❤❤
True story, when I was just an early teen my mom used to drag me to garage sales with her on Saturdays. On this particular trip she gave me $1.00 to keep me quiet and she could do her thing while I look for toys that a dollar could buy. I remember the house and the moment I see this album laying on a table for a quarter. I didn't even know what it was or who it was but I did know that the picture I was looking at was the scariest picture I had ever seen. Mom let me get it and on that day I was introduced to Sabbath. The music matched the cover and I've been a fan of that album, my first album ever since. Thanks Mom, you helped me become a Metal Head before I even listened to music. Thank God it wasn't country. As for the documentary this was fkn awesome and I'm sure we will see more of this guy. Bravo
That's f'n epic
@@goodmorningsundaymorning4533 Right on !
Watching this in anticipation of Zakk Sabbath’s new record “Doomed Forever Forever Doomed” coming out this week! Can’t wait. Saw them this past December one of the best shows I’ve been to in a long time
I found Black Sabbath in about 1981. Bought all their back catalog from a sky city bargain bin. I got basically all the Ozzy Era cassettes. A month later I was saving for a guitar and amp. I was 8 or 9 years old. I'm 50 now. I still play every day. I've been everywhere because of those albums and the music that hooked me all those years ago. The people that Black Sabbath affected with the love of music is utterly amazing.
Henry's in just one of his record rooms. True audiophile.
He has more? I noticed the albums and how many he had
40 years of listening to Sabbath and I still love em, and the Zakk Sabbath band is Totally Fkn Awesome also!!
Thank you for this awesome work 👏👏👏👏
Fantastic documentary! Loved every bit of it...thanks for sharing. \m/ \m/
Just brilliant... Thank You.
When Ozzy talks about playing the record for his parents and what his dad says to him, so fucking great man oh my God funny fucking shit
awesome classic stuff !!!!!!
THIS WAS FRIGGIN AWESOME TO WATCH!!! LOVED IT
That's the best documentary I've ever seen. Every second of it is perfect
Thanks for this wonderful tribute to the music of Black Sabbath, and for introducing me to the new generation!
And a big thank you for putting this out for us!!! That awesome!! Thank you so much!!
Wow. Loved every min of this. Hail black Sabbath and long live bill geezer Tony and Ozzy.
That first Sabbath was mesmerizing and scared the hell out of me! I have been a fan ever since.Huge influence in my youth and now 👍🏼🤟🏻
I was at the anniversary gig at the 02 Institute what an awesome night these 3 blew the roof of the place... Hail Zakk Wylde 🎸🤘
Absolutely fantastic! Zakk Wylde is a true legend! Love this! ❤❤❤
This was amazing!
I’m glad this came out and you are looking healthy Ozzy 🤘🤘🤘
Saw Zakk Sabbath live in Seattle last month it was an epic show!
Sounds awesome 🤘
This was a excellent video!!
These are the songs Zakk was built to play. I've seen him many times, Zakk Sabbath has been my favorite. See ya here next month, I can't wait. My ears rang for 3 days after the BLS concert many years ago.
The Best hands down! I'm glad I got to see zakk play live. I'd love to see a Zakk Sabbath show in michigan though. Doc was great awesome job
Hearing Oz talk about Tony makes me smile. Sabbath were such a special band, and the way they changed music is so hard to make sense of now. They changed so much.
Sabbaths debut ablum out in Feb 13 1970 is a masterpiece.
The song that really drew me into Sabbath was: Behind The Wall Of Sleep. I heard it on a midnight Metal show back in the early 90's and couldn't get it out of my head! I miss those days...
Long live Black Sabbath! Glorious Zakk Sabbath 🤘🏽💀🤘🏽 💪🏽🇦🇷
GREAT JOB ALL...THANX 4 MAKING Tee with LIONS NAMED LEO the music worldwide.
LOVE YOU ALL...!!!....MUCH LOVE.!!
the amount that Ozzy moves in his chair talking is just epic. he reposition him self with every word lmfao!
It's from Parkinson's
This is like, the documentary for the first album I've been yearning for. They did a great doc on Paranoid with classic albums and I sooo wished they could have done the other albums. This works very well
My first Sabbath record was Paranoid. I bought it at a very unlikely place. The Bon Marche. An upscale department store that was also the areas ticket outlet in my Seattle suburb (Federal Way) during the late 70s.
I next found Master of Reality at a more typical location, Payless Drugstore which later evolved into Skaggs, but was previously called House Of Values. Also in Federal Way Washington.
I don’t remember buying Sabbath Bloody Sabbath specifically, but I did buy Black Sabbath as a cut out for about half price in the Bon Marche clearance section, where i incidentally also score LZ’s Presence also as a cut out gem. 1978 or 79. I still have all these records, as well as later pressings where they weren’t damaged with notches cut by the labels when they eventually were realized to be hot commodities a decade later.
Amazing work as always Justin!
I too back in about 1982 found an 8 track tape on the road. The label was all wrinkled from getting rain on it. It said Black something. After it dried out I put it in the player. Omg! I loved it immediately. Just thought it was a funny coincidence. Keep on rocking!
The drummer is remarkably accurate. My hat goes off for him. (^- drummer of 38 years)
I'm thinking that's the new Pantera guy
@@AudioStorm1980 It's not, but it should be...
He played with Scott Weiland also when he died.
Zakk is playing exceptionally well 🔥
... absolutely great Thing to remember the First Album.
.....and Ozzy ,He IS so crazy moving in His Seat.
I don't always listen to Metal, but when I do, it has to be Black Sabbath.
Yea, I think we all have a similar story of first hearing sabbath. My dad played the album on vinyl, I must have been like 4 or 5, I can remember hearing that title track and looking at the album cover which felt like it was 2 feet wide I my 5 y.o. hands. Hearing that bell looming at that cover like a witch walking through a forrest or whatever. I remember thinking "this is rad, I'm sold for life."
Amazing,,, music wise fantastic 🤷🏻♂️
MUSICIANS ARE AWESOME PEOPLE.... most of them.
The first time I heard Black Sabbath was around a campfire at night in the middle of nowhere. It was perfect!
Now all you devoted sabbath fans imagine seeing them back in the day these guys would bake on stage and still sound good a whole new realm after the show
I was 12 yesterday old in 1968. I grew up on my parents country and western.one night lying in bed I heard Black Sabbath on a.m radio...I was done listening to Buck Owens!
It’s great to see in depth Sabbath material on YT that’s 𝑎𝑢𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑧𝑒𝑑 and not uploaded by some scumbag©️ infringing jagoff.
Love Zacks sound!!! Saw Rhodes play with Ozzy in 10th grade. Sabbath Mob Rules and Heaven n hell, Dio, Priest, Scorpions, Maiden....some of my fav bands still today...
ZAKK*
Nice you got to see Randy, with Ozzy. My friend and I had convinced his mother to get us tickets, I was in 7th grade, but unfortunately, Randy passed before that show could happen. Also I never got to see Dio, you saw some greats for sure.
it's good to hear someone give bill ward the props he so much deserves.🤘🤘🤘🤘
I cant even imagine being there before and after Sabbath
I was 9 when I heard black sabbath ,Black sabbath guy says you wanna hear something evil kid being catholic I said ok was darn near scared shitless with the beginning church bells loved every second of that album thank you
All hail Black fucking Sabbath!
Saw Zakk Sabbath in Atlanta and it was beyond insane.
im from birmingham and proud to come from the place of metal (tho its not like that now...faaaar from it) ozzy/sabbath rules.
Cool, I would go see that. I have seen Black Sabbath twice. I did see the original Black Sabbath on Lollapalooza show. I actually worked it on the main stage in Pittsburgh, well Burgestown PA just out side of Pittsburgh about 20 miles. I helped set their gear up. Zack was playing on the show also but not with Black Sabbath but with Black Label Society. I think that tour is what got got Zack with Ozzy. I was standing right by Zack. He came to the main stage stage to watch them set up. Their roadies were older than I am now and I was born in 58. I saw them prior that. I was also working as a tech and Dio was the lead vocalist on the Black and Blue tour with Blue Oyster Cult and Black Sabbath trading headlining daily.
HELL YEAH
the first sabbath album came out before there was a genre of metal. people weren't ready for them yet; but people who liked zeppelin, cream, the who ect. loved it...
WOW. 😎💥🔥
Fuck yeah! Geezer is the lord of the underworld, them deep notes hit the earth devastated!
Zakks tone though. Cmon Mon
The ZS album is fucking superb; would love to see him do the next 5 :D
Minudo's first album blows them all away.
Hats off to Zak for being able to sing it while playing the riffs. That ain't easy ..all round great band...fair play
It's Zakk.... And it sounds like you don't know him too well....
@@19Bearsfansince79I never claimed to know him to well...all i said was fair play for being able to do ozzys and Tony's parts together at the same time...thought that was obvious ...it.clearly says it
I love the sabbath tune "the writ" would love to hear a zakk sabbath version
No other Band comes close. Many can play or copy but no one can do it like the Godfathers of Heavy Metal!
At the end kinda reminds me of the old pantera home video,s just a joyful evening hanging with yer friends type of vibe ,like you could sit down and chill with them any time oh yeah and they,d let you hell not just let but invite you to do so.
Birmingham wow super cool. Here in Toronto I was so pumped to Maby get on stage with my teachers band that led zepplin played on before the broke out. Only to find the moved the stupid bar At least we still got checkerboard floors
To the guy who,s channel this is thank you big time ,I owe ya a beer or 20 come collect sometime hell I got a few guitars and amps usually don't have enough functional cords to plug up 2 people so bring a cord ill buy the beer well rock the fuck out and I happen to know a ton of sabbath songs riffs licks all that jive
I’m buying this album as soon as I can, and if possible I’m buying Blasko’s DOOM hat along with it!
Nice very nice but when are they coming to New Zealand? 🤘
8:38 I can't understand a damn thing Ozzy is saying but damn if I don't love this guy and everything he did for heavy metal.
"They are the oil itself."
I like the way the bassist described the song
@TheSpaceCoyote82 you don't say!
Paranoid next, thanks Zakk Sabbath
Cool that they are staying true to the original by recording live
sabbath 😍
I had tickets to see Ozzy in Vegas in 2019, but he got his Parkinson's diagnosis...cancelled, waited for a new date then covid hit...that's one show I'm really going to miss not seeing...Blizzard of Ozz was one of my first rock albums...some of his best work...🤘🤘
It's Blizzard of OZZ.....2 Zs bruddah man....
@@19Bearsfansince79 Oops, I missed a z...put me on the cross bro...🤣🤣🤣...corrected thx...
I was at this show, Zakk played a guitar solo on the balcony right infront of me
👏👏👏👏👏👏
You have to admit, Zakk has a similar voice to Ozzy.
Hate to say this but he sounds cleaner then ozzy but ozzy carried it very well on stage
I’ll never get over Zakk without a bullseye Les Paul. Those Wylde Audio fiddles look like herpes feels.
My friend Ward McKetsy played me this album at 13 years old. It changed my life. Rock and Roll saved my soul.
Hail the SABBATH👹
They are the oil themselves... Everyone that came after them is a shadow in the dark. They are the darkness in the shadow.
Zakks rendition of the first BS album is an absolute must listen. It’s done with great respect for the original songs arrangements with great little embellishments to accent but not try to one-up Tony’s playing. All the other band members stay true to the blueprint.
When I finally got word that he was releasing the entirety of the second and third albums as well I pre ordered the 2 CD set.
I’m very hopeful that he’ll be doing everything up to, but not beyond Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.
Some hardcore old school fans enjoy Tech and NSD, but I try to keep an open mind to no avail.
As for the the Dio years, it’s not the same thing. But at least RJD years were good albums, for what they were. After that, total ballocks. Until 13 I skipped all the filler Tony was doing trying to keep the brand alive. Without Geezer it wasn’t the same.
Zakk is the only one who can make these albums both the same as well as better.
Fucking awesome, plus I was eating a taco while watching. Best day of my life..☠️
First album, parents into Manilow's, diamond ...I get Foreigner double vision, Led zep, song remains the same, Skynyrd gold and platinum, Sabbath Master of Reality, Sabbath, scorps, foghat, Van Halen, Priest, Maiden, Accept...Dio and much metal after that....good days!
Suberb ,Blasko is a great bass player .
It's fucking good!🤘👌🤘
