Yes, that was my take, too - sizing up probably would have made it a lot better, but I just wasn't sure I'd get enough use out of it if I did, so I just ended up returning it. If you you do try it, I'd love to know what you think! (And don't forget the discount code - TILTEDMAP for 10% off!)
I started wearing merino wool clothing a couple of years ago, I agree the clothes with higher percentage of polyester start to smell a lot faster! The clothes also smell "burnt" after washing them, but luckily the smell goes away after drying. I also bought an ivory shirt and was kind of disappointed it has a yellow tint, it is not perfectly white like in the photos (because wool is not perfectly white like cotton). Overall, I do really like merino wool - just thought I'd share a few lessons learned 😊
That's a good point about the ivory color, Larry! That's why Unbound blends it (just that color) with some polyester - to make it a brighter white, since merino can't get to pure white. And funny you call it a burnt smell after washing them - I always think they smell like a wet dog. 😆🐕(Which makes sense, it's basically the same material - animal hair.) But yes, definitely a good thing it goes away as they dry! Have you tried other brands, as well, or just Unbound? If so, I'd be curious if you have any feedback.
@@tiltedmap Yes! I have some sweatpants from Allbirds which I love - I wear them to the gym and Capoeira and they never smell afterward. I also have a shirt from Banana Republic I wear in fall/winter - I don’t think I’ve ever washed it 😂
Like you, I pack mostly Unbound Merino when I travel: travel pants, variety of t- shirts, quarter-zip. You've convinced me to try the lightweight travel hoodie for my next trip to Ireland and the UK. I also wear UM t-shirts for my job in healthcare.
They're the best! Good tip about wearing them for a health care job, too. Makes sense - comfy and good smelling for long hours. Thanks for letting us know, Terri. If you remember, I'd love to hear what you think of the hoodie when you get it!
I buy all of my Merino Womens clothes from Unbound Merino. I have been satisfied so far. I got the sweat pants, and leggings and I have the travel dress, tee shirts, the hoodie and the quarter zip..
Hi Aaron, honestly no, no problems at all. My oldest items from Unbound that I've had for three years and they still look great. I haven't tried other merino brands (yet) so I don't have much to compare them to, but I that what matters most is how you take care of them. I just make sure to wash everything in cold water and either on the gentle cycle or in a laundry bag, and air dry them instead of using the dryer. I wrote a bit more about that in this part of my review on the blog: www.tiltedmap.com/unbound-merino-review/#how-to-wash-merino-clothing And don't forget, if you do want to trying anything from them, use our discount code, TILTEDMAP, for 10% off your order. Hope that helps! - Ketti
Thank you for this very informative video! I will be going to Ireland and Scotland next year for 15 days on a bus tour. There will be little or no opportunity to do laundry. This would be the perfect solution for my clothing!
You’re rocking the dress.
thank you Christine!
I am looking at the wrap dress too. I want to love it. Maybe size up?

You're so welcome, Deborah! Glad it was helpful. Let us know what you think of it!
Have you had any problems with durability? That's something that keeps me from going all in on Merino.
