Every character in Art of Fighting 2 has SNK boss syndrome. Probably the hardest arcade mode in all fighting games.
It's because the AI reads your inputs.
@@Mitjitsu Is there a way to defeat the cheap A.I. of Art of Fighting 2?
@@kendonl.taylor5111 Yeah, you can cheese every enemy in this game. If you google the strats, you can perfect every round and get to geese. Playing honest against the a.i is madness.
This and Mortal Kombat 2
That "Excuse me?" when Mr Big did the definitely not psycho crusher was priceless.
When?

Not gonna lie, seeing Justin struggle with some of these old games makes me feel much better about how bad I was at them 😅
tbf the game in general was very brutal. no one will ever blame you for struggling in the rigged arcade mode lol
And how bad I still am at it, apparently. (It’s available on the playstation store) 😂
It would be harder to find someone who was good at facing AoF2 A.I. honestly.
No one should feel 'bad' about losing in arcade mode to the CPU in 90s fighting games. Remember Zangief cheating out the SPD or Guile running at you and immediately doing the Flash Kick (without charging)?
You weren't bad. You were cheated. Thankfully these days there are ways around these rigged A.I. opponents.
I literally just beat this game two nights ago and it was the most soul crushing bullshit I’ve ever played. FUCK TEMJIN. Don’t trust anybody who says they want Temjin to come back.
But to be totally fair a modern game wouldn't be hard. Like late 90s SNK games stopped being hard. Also from what I've seen, the few people who want Temjin to get in KoF only wish to see that command grab done to the girls.
PS: I'm not with them, but wouldn't hate his debut in KoF anyways...
But is it a good game?
@@pretzel6629 yeah. This game is awesome. Pretty solid.
I don't understand their vision for the game, if this was in arcades who was going to play if they couldnt even win the first fight? I guess for the home version maybe they wanted the games to last the player all year as there's not a ton of other games for them to play.
Hahaha! Great! We used the play it at my buddy's house in the 90's on the NeoGeo CD. We promissed 50 bucks to whoever can beat Geese (not even on the hardest mode I might add). Fucking hell, no one ever won 😂
Trap Shot is Down Up kick in this game.
Also, low fireballs must be blocked low. You can also punch fireballs in this game to nullify them.
Aof 2 is such a painful game in terms of difficulty.
Plus Geese's theme in this game is hype but boy is he broken as hell. For me he 's top 3 as far as hardest SNK bosses go.
To be continued? Whadda hell man... Seein' these old games again really makes me jones for those old school arcade days when I wasted my youth and a small fortune in quarters lol
facts
Yeah these pre-KOF SNK games remind us that SNK Boss Syndrome existed well before KOF
The whole game was SNK boss syndrome. Even on Level 1.
It started with Geese, before KoF
@@carlosaugusto9821 Geese in FF1 was tough, but pretty easy once you figured him out.
He was pretty darn hard in FFS, but beatable.
This game though...beyond brutal.
I can beat KOF 97 on level 8 and I can barely win the first few rounds of this on level 1.
You should fight Young Geese in KOF NeoWave, especially in the console version, because Young Geese's AI is different if you compare the Atomiswave version to the console versions.
Dash + Grab > wakeup fireball = stun > repeat. It's how I beat the arcade.
AOF invented parrying among tons of other game mechanics.
SNK is the responsible for most secondary basic mechanics in fgs. Some that became standards, some that didn't but still were relevant. Like by 93, when Capcom only had cheap SF2 revisions, SNK already had FF, AOF and SS.
When you get to hell, tell 'em GEESE sent ya! 😂😂😂
You know there is going to be suffering ahead when the final boss gets it's own video.
What I love about AoF is how their attacks sounds like they're borrowed from Kung Fu movies and fortunately enough, it got carried over through the KoF series.
AOF 2's CPU is beyond cheap. The most flagrant input reading fighting game I've ever played. I want so hard to love this game, but it just abuses me every time I try.
It's a real shame because the characters, stages, graphics, and music are all fantastic.
Ah, that one SNK game where every single character as the AI of an SNK boss. Fun times!
Yeah I play this game on my phone and this game is not easy even on easiest difficulty. Yeah old games aren't newbies friendly.
I grew up in the 90s arcade nearby but never liked playing AOF and Fatal Fury, it so hard and unbalance for a kid like me, So I'll spend my quarter more on SF2 and SFA. KOF 95 was my entry game.
First AoF wasn't so bad until you reached Mr Karate (he was impossible). But yeah SNK games in general were pretty brutal.
I can't relate to that, here in Mexico you just get good in the game and beat it, it doesn't matter if the game have no balance of if is hard
@@franciscoarzapalozapata4610 I was kid back then and good game for me was SF games and mahvel. accessibility also was a major issue with SNK arcade cabs in the 90s compare to late 90s and year early 2ks cabs
@@ryuhoshi6970 I also was a kid and for us the good games were the hardest games , sf2 was too easy for us
@@franciscoarzapalozapata4610 I was a kid so I was more into fun games and to games that idolize characters like mahvel titles. Samsho was the only non-kof tied game back in the 90s that I enjoy before. because of the gameplay before the kof series
Art of Fighting 1's finall boss is INSANELY hard as well, and in a very cheap way.
Welcome to SNK
Wrong. AOF 1 Mr. Karate does not compare to AOF2 Mr. Big and Young Geese.
Eh, kinda. He leaves himself wide open to a lot of attacks and he takes a lot of damage. His only advantage is being able to do super fast attacks and special moves. Big is tough, but not impossible. Geese though, Geese is a cheating mofo, with his insane priorities and damage.
He's tough but AoF2 in general felt so much -worse- harder difficulty wise imo.
This is why I didn't play AOF back in the day in the arcades. I didn't have enough money 😭
1994-me figured out a lot of this game's weirdness. You can punch fireballs of all kinds to destroy them, you can press the buttons to land from a throw most of the time (except for Mickey's grab), it's easy to trick characters into doing specific things so you can land free hits, if you throw someone you can hit them with a fireball when they get up -and it causes a stun, ALWAYS-. You can also run towards a character and grab them. Mickey is the most assholish of them all though - you can just walk up to someone and grab them. Then do it again and again and again. The CPU can't get out of it when done right.
A lot of the game's strategies are based around footsies, too.
This is still way up there in my list of favorite SNK games. It's what made me a fan of the Sakazakis, King, and Robert. 27 years and still going, baby!
I’ve been trolling you about playing this game finally!! 😄
Damn, my man probably died so many times to young geese he had to make a separate vid lol. Hype!
NGL loving how king is getting some love. :)
I really like this game for the soundtrack, characters, graphics, stages, and the Supers are still awesome. I enjoy the arcade mode even if its stupid hard.
AOF2 was definitely "next gen" looking for 1994. Also it was a great sequel... Considering that most fg sequels around that time barely changed the game (and Capcom had nothing but cheap SF2 revisions).
Also AOF among all early fgs had an unmatched sense of narrative, and even later in the 90s it was rarely matched. The fights had a context and development. And the first game ended with a cliffhanger, and the sequel felt like a direct sequel of a movie series.
AOF sure had many high grade merits and contributions to the genre, leaving aside all the jank.
@@carlosaugusto9821 AOF had more mechanics as well. Which helped it feel less dated even though the game play is dated.
Good call that you did a cliffhanger on this one... because I have the feeling that Young Geese will be a pain in the gut to deal with... hopefully not as much as Kaiser Knuckle's General.
AoF 2? Now we want the 1 and 3 =D
3 is such a beautiful game, btw
Yeah, AOF3 is gorgeous. Has Justin played any World Heroes yet?
One of my favorite fighting games. Insanely hard and cheap AI but everything else about it is fantastic.
Yeah looking back at it Art of Fighting was ahead of its time in lots of mechanics they put into their games and the graphical fidelity at the time.
Got whooped so much he had to cut it for a part 2 😂 I respect it 💯
Also Yipes/Wong/Commentary/MvC2 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
The king of fighters 1995 level 8 😁
Aw, the cliffhanger is killer! Sh**, that looks familiar too... I've never played this, but KOF NeoWave has the same stage/young Geese encounter iirc. Yeah I gave up on that, lol. Can't wait to see you beat Geese!
Man I like the looks of this one. Those big ol' AOF sprites remind me of Dan Ku Ga (Kaiser Knuckle) and I love me some Kaiser Knuckle. I know Path of the Warrior: AOF3 is pretty sick - I've played a bit of that one, but not the first two. Definitely gonna have to check them out now. Both AOF and Kizuna Encounter should have more exposure; I don't know why so few characters show up in King of Fighters or even when SNK did Neo Geo Battle Colisseum. Rosa _alone_ (from Kizuna Encounter) deserves to be in many more games.
I can't wait to see you fight young Geese
Finally, thank you justin.
Damn it was not a level 8 I remember I play that game level 8 it was brutalAnd that you wanna make geez appear You don’t have to lose no rounds
Either you don't lose rounds at all, or throw the match if you lose a round (as long as you haven't won 1) to keep the all matches end 2-0 condition, as for some stupid reason that's the flag the game needs to trigger the Geese fight (and the same applies for Ryo in Fatal Fury Special).
Justin really its gonna know the boss that was the epitome of the SNK boss syndrome
1:36 that was one hell of reaction ! And the speed of the special move cause CPU doesn't need a combination to perform special moves it just want it to come out and it comes out at the same time not like humans they think then perform the special move or even a normal move ! That fragment of second can change everything !
The thing I want back from AoF is the fact that the characters show fatigue when low on hp, also I would like if battle damage was shown, nothing too bruised, but something.
I like how when you beat opponents they just kinda.....sit on the ground. Just like real life.
legal
AOF1 from 92 invented crumple KO animation. But in its own way. Only in the late 90s Capcom started doing something close to that, in SF3.
It's a shame that It didn't became a standard since the mid 90s. Like since SFA, FF3 and later, all KoFs, etc. (SS can be forgiven because it has the violent special KO animations)
00:52 - You can use continues and still fight young Geese. The requirement to fight him is "win every fight by 2-0". So, if you lose a round, just let the CPU win the entire fight and you still be able to fight Geese.
You know the next video is going to be 11-16 minutes of Justin suffering! Hilarity will ensue! 🤣
I told you AOF2 is relentless... you needed to test this out by youself. We were forged by the soaring flames of SNK in our youth. Also try Fatal Fury Special's.
Here: at 3:23 you accidentally discovered the cheap trick we had to cheese this unforgiven AI: throw, if they didn't tech it, fireball. That will cause them to get stunned. Grab, throw and pray they don't tech roll, if didn't fireball. That's it.
And WHY AREN'T YOU TECHING THE GRABS!? No wonder they chunk that huge amount of HP!
Oh yes art of fighting 2 the most broken arcade mode of all time.
Justin picking King = cultured and nobbled FGC duke
Mr. BIg - the secret ruler of SNK Boss Syndome.
Yes... those times... those times when you said "King is the gatekeeper" and you actually were freaking right.
this game have a big trick... DASH FORWARD grab him and when he is getting up hit a fireball (he get up dizzy) repeat until finish him... works with all characters
4:40 - you can parry haoh-shokou-kens by performing a quick punch before collision. Not trivial, but possible
2:10 - lol at that editing gag
Beat geese on level 8 in AOF2 then I'm impressed.
Inset Justin’s “WHAT” sponge bob effect for that to be continued
genuinely surprised king's top just came off like that. guessing this was on the neo geo version. also, i can't imagine what that would have been like for anyone who didn't realize that king was a woman lol
FINALLY!! My prayers have been answered. I can die a happy man.
I love hearing that POOOAAAAR sound. That’s the best part of this game. LOL
AoF 2 had throw parry mechanic thats why Mr. Big often get little damage when you throw him. u see at 10:16 he got more damage from throw because he failed to use the parry.
Next time please go to Art of fighting 3 arcade too. I love animation of that game so much.
I see. so is this the masochism that I heard so much about?
Yeah it's an early 90s fg
Since it had to be continued, i could imagine the pain he went through 🤣🤣🤣
Facts!! Pain in the ass granted!!
The desperation moves make the game so much easier to play. I can’t believe you played through without using it.
He did it the honest way, there's an easy way to beat the full game you just grab then fireball on wake up that will stun them and repeat. Works with all of them.
You know what’s bizarre? You can counter normal fireballs by jabbing them. I don’t think you can do that to the hao sho ko ken tho
I totally forgot about this game yeah this is very brutal
You should Use that tactic....ff dash run or whatever + Throw and then hadouken, repeat. note: This tactic doesn't work against CPU only with Yuri.
A cliffhanger 😭
You should play a game called “Tuff E Nuff” for SNES. That will give you a run for your money
Dang this is epic back high school days we only have few quarter to spend on our local . My mate favorite game they know the odds only Ryo and Robert player . Dont choose other player lol . They mastered each stage when and when to taunt and finish with fatality super . Nuff sayin is good to see u bring back memories hahah
I didn’t know the voice of king in oversea ver. is different from Japan. Japan ver. is the same as KOF.
Early 90s fighting games was so unforgiving and brutal! Love it! Lol
This game is way too damn hard. Beyond brutal.
I lost too many quarters as well
Edit
These games went up to LEVEL 8..
Did I just get hit with a "Next time on DragonBall Z" 😵😱
The cliff hanger🧗🧗♀️🧗♂️
*Gotta fight Young Geese Howard!* Continues are allowed but it's gotta be ONLY 2-0 victories all the way, Mr Big included. Neo Geo CD allowed to keep the life bar or energy bar extensions (or the super death blow from the start in AOF 2 if was done in first game) with a save of AOF 1. I suppose that was possible on normal Neo Geo with a memory card but am not sure. By the way there is a recover technic that avoids a major amount of damage from the throws by pressing A or B (LP or LK in default neo geo pad/stick mapping at the right moment of impact with the ground, it's vital to master this in this game and when learned it's as easy as riding bicycle. I don't think the throw recover works in AOF 1, it was probably new to next episode. Everyone is capable of wall kicks with C and this also has a big impact on the player's performance (especially against AI!) to learn to use it often as this is a key to very easy cheap victory also against Mr Karate in any level of difficulty in AOF 1. The risks are worth the reward: as an exemple wall kicking above Mr Karate's super death blow and hitting him gives high chances to stun him with ONE hit in AOF 1, in any AI level. It takes to feel how to do the highest jump with that ability or with time learn other ways, just like the jump nuances from some KOF that I was never able to use consistantly to my concern. *I ABSOLUTLY can't wait to see the struggle against Young Geese!* Gotta be ultra defensive against him to have a chance. He is way up there in my top favorite cheap SNK bosses, I looooove this basterd lollll. (His return in NeoWave was nice buuuut, I might still prefer the AOF2 original more. Some of his moves in this one are too much a pain of input precision to perform). I really enjoy Fatal Fury especially the 3rd cuz I got it with my first Neo Geo CD but I'm way more consistant in AOF against AI and I really really love this underrated serie. The very beginning of KOF lore was in South Town ! Hell yearh. Ryo Robert Takuma are the OG. I'd love to see more chars of this serie come back. I wanted a claw team in KOF 15 (which I don't even own yet, maybe at Rugal release but my computer sucks and I don't have PS4 or 5) like Lee Pai Long, Choi Bounge and possibly a new female claw user to make it more fun ?
Mr. Big was cheap af 😂 I wanna see what Geese looking like
The Mario paint music got me 😅😂
Can we all just acknowledge that Diet is the best stage song in fighting game history?
I know I'm not the only person that noticed this @ 6:34. It tripped me out and had me rewind it 3x to make sure I wasn't seeing things.
What a cliffhanger ending. Nice
RESPECT FOR MR BIG, HANDICAPPED WITH NO JUMP MOVEMENT...CONSIDERE IT JUSTIN XD
Still cannot beat this game today, it's a darn shame too, since I never beaten any of the Art Of Fighting games in general.
Art of Fighting 2 input reading ai
I really love AoF 2 ... still playing it... BUT...
Sometimes something is really wrong with this game... maybe its randomly broken...???
Normally i need not too long to reach Mr Big....but not today... Same Level that i ever play...
Takuma..... He took me nearly 40 mins... He played like hell....I was short before going mad...
So im so glad that most of Neo Geo Users suffer to the same "situations" :D
Love your videos.....
I love AOF2 - I mained Takuma and was able to abuse the patterns and beat most AI opponents without continuing. A trick to get to Geese easily is to join as Player 2 when you are losing to the AI. Beat P2 and then you get another clean crack at the AI. I think I beat young Geese with Mickey, since his throw is inescapable. An overall fun but frustrating game!
What a cliffhanger !! 😆
He attacc
He protecc
But most importantly...
He reflecc

OH REALLY JUSTIN!?
ETERNAL CHAMPIONS FOR THE SEGA GENESIS WOULD LIKE TO HAVE WORDS WITH YOU WHEN IT COMES TO THE MOST BRUTAL ARCADE GAMES!
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
LOL...
1. You don't _"tech"_ the throws in AoF2, you hit the throw button *BEFORE* you hit the ground to *SAFE FALL* .
2. All the moves of any characters of AoF in KOF '94 are the exact same in AoF2. Meaning, Down to Up quickly for Trap Shot or Side to Side for Tornado Kick for instance.
3. You can destroy projectiles, even the Haoh-Sho-Kooken, with a well timed quick punch. Only the Mega-Blast can't and that one you can _"aim"_ at the head of feet by tilting the joystick in diagonal up or down before you shoot.
4. Mickey's _"throw"_ is inescapable and you can cheese most fights with it.
5. There are combos in this game, you just have to time the next hit just before the animation of the last is about to end.
Ngl it’s pretty crazy how the creators of KoF kept king and yuri’s clothes being ripped in the newer games.
Not like I dislike it though…
Even in real fights, rear round kick is killer.
This game is my guilty pleasure
if difficulty level-4 gave Justin a hard time, can't imagine me playing this
Throw damage is nuts in old arcade fighting games, especially if you get thrown by a boss.
And those games had no "tech" from the beginning. The first fg to have tech throws I believe it was AOF2, then SSF2T. Though both games do it differently.
Then when tech throws became a standard in the mid 90s, that cheapness was lightened a little bit. Throws were only nerfed overall in the late 90s.
Imagine how painful it's be without save state. After seeing the difficulty, I understand why it was used.
Justin would love to see you play AOF3, it's a weird game but seriously underrated, there are people that play it on FC2
catch fireball maxsuper catch fireball maxsuper
OH! NO! kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk I wanted to see the fight against geese.
Lol What a coincidence I started art of fighting 2 a week ago, Going through each of the characters to see their endings, But yes you really do need to save states to get to Geese Howard If you’re not used to the game
This was a very good game here I love it especially Mr big Justin man you were struggling against him he was charging at you like he was bison or Raiden from mortal Kombat Mr big does way too much damage but you won in the end
More brutal than Rugal 94? O O F
I want to see Justin face against 02UM Rugal at some point
For me the worst SNK A.I. I've faced, input reading and if you're lucky enough Young Geese being a monster.
Let's go Justin! Pallet swap UMVC3!
:views thumbnail: Huh? That game was cake?
:views video: Oh....... oooooohhhhhhh. Yeah, that makes sense.
