Personally I don't trust what they're putting out processed especially if it's on sale. Of all the weird things they are giving to animals, I prefer processing myself from local high quality farmers.
Your a brave lady. Funky was a good choice off words. Thanks for being a trooper😊
Nope. Not going to even try it. Jinnr you are a very brave woman.
Eww. I'm glad you did this video. I really hate it when the picture on the outside of the can is not representative of what is inside!
Yes, I thought for sure there were patties in there.
I’m glad you showed us. I’m thinking I’ll skip it.
My parents used this all the time when I was a kid, they added it to gravy for breakfast. We liked it.
Mine did too! We ate it, as if it were a gravy, along side fried eggs, for example. A couple of homemade bisuits along with breakfast sausage can make a quick, filling, meal.
I think it would be good for biscuits and gravy.
@@natashafeld6588 me to, maybe with a little hot sauce of other seasonings.
The look on your face when you were showing it on the plate just cracked me up! 😂
🤭
Thanks for the review! I think we'll just stock corned beef hash.
In my experience….Banner is AWFUL😳…I have 3 cans in my pantry….. you were too kind in your review of this TERRIBLE product! Thank you!😊
You are a lot braver then me , lol , Thanks for the demo Jinne
I bought “Beverly” brand canned Bulk Sausage Cured when I saw a lady picking it up from the shelf and I asked her if it was any good and she said yes…….I actually opened up a can the other day and mixed it with some scrambled eggs…. I bought it way back when the shelves were empty and everyone was saying to stock up on canned meats……that’s when I first discovered canned chicken 😂…well anyway, the Beverly brand doesn’t have any mechanically separated chicken in the ingredients and only has 200 mg of sodium for a 2 ounce serving size but still is very salty and mushy just like your brand and doesn’t form into a patty…..Look, if you’re starving and this is one of the things you have on hand with a long shelf life, you’ll eat it…..my best by date is still 6/25 for the two cans I have left and I swear I bought them in 2019 or 2020! I think this brand is a little better than the one you just tried……this old lady just giving her two cents!!!!!😂👵🏻. Tks for your review!!!!!!👍🏻
i bought it and it went to the garbage
You took one for the team
Mechanically separate Chicken is the equivalent of “pink slime”……🤮🤢
I canned some half pints of sausage awhile back. I plan to use it alongside a packet of country gravy mix and a just add water biscuit mix for a meal in a bag for camping. emergencies, or last minute meal.
It's been sold, here in the south US, since I was a child. Often ate it, until age along with the need to reduce sodium intake stopped it. I like it best, heated as if it were a gravy. Serve along side scrambled or fried eggs. Sop it with homemade biscuits, as if it were gravy. "Frying" it will further concentrate the salt, as the moisture is driven off. Likely to make it taste far too salty.
It would be somewhat of an acquired taste. I'd absolutely rather have it than to go hungry, especially if I can make a pan biscuits!
I've lived in the South for 70 years and have NEVER seen this crap sold ANYWHERE!
@@JDDees I'm older. And, I'm sorry you've led such a remote and sheltered life. Even our local Food Lions (a southern chain, since you might not know) sell it. *What's even worse is that no one has taught you that you can't make factual judgements on what you've never seen or tasted* . After all, some people don't like chocolate or rib-eye steaks.
It will help if you are capable, to type 3 words into a search engine. They are "Banner breakfast sausage". Tons of references, recipes, ads, blog posts and more. Heck, it's even sold on eBay. 🙂
We have used this when I was growing up. We always put it in a bowl add an egg and flower and mix together. Then put it in frying pan or griddle like a pancake. We served it with fried or scrambled eggs. It has been years since I have had it.
I tried canned hamburger from a familiar brand. It had way too many "vien" material pieces. From now on, I will can my own hamburger. I'm glad I bought one can and taste-tested it before getting a case.
Thanks for testing it and giving your opinion. I think I will pass on this. Great job Jinni
Thank you for the information! I like your down to earth testing!
Thanks for trying things for us.
I like it for making biscuits & Pepper gravy or frying it up with my eggs...mix it with a binder (I use cornmeal & 1 egg).take a spoon and spoon it down like cookie dough....... I actually keep 12 cans always in my pantry , its one of those things that add to variety meat stock and because we eat it it gets rotated :) ......its kinda like keeping chipped beef or summer sausage ,,, if your gonna eat it you can stock it :)
Our home canned sausage patties is one of our favorite canned meat.
I bought some of this a while back and fried it till it was crispy then added eggs and cheese plus Picante to make breakfast tacos. It was not horrible and I did buy about 4 more cans. Not something I would ever be able to gag down right out of the can tho 😂
Oh no no no no
🤭
Okay, not going to even try. 😂😂😂
Cooking Adventures with Jinne 😂
I was thinking it was crumbled sausage. It didn't look very appealing to me. I like potted meat so will stick with that. Gonna pass on this. Thank you for the video ❤
Reminds me of potted beef or hash also. Thank you for the review!
💥Think I'm gonna stick to the black eye peas mixture for making sausage. It's good and it comes together so you can make patties out of this mixture. Try it I think you'd like it alot better. WE do.Thats why I've stocked up on can black eye peas in a can and sage for a sausage back up. Great video keep them coming.💜
I found that on Amazon. $34.80/12 cans. I've been wondering if it's worth buying. Thanks for taking one for the team!
Sacramento, California USA 🇺🇸
We had this as a kid, make gravy and warm the sausage up and add to to the gravy.
Such a brave young lady! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for bringing these to us.
Good video, thanks for sharing YAH bless !
It looks like the slop shoveled up from the factory floor and stuffed in to a can.
I can sausage links, it's about as easy to do as it gets. The texture changes slightly, but the flavor is still 100% there. I can stuff nearly an entire tray into a pint jar!
Thanks for reviewing it. I bought a case on Amazon last year for my stash. Glad to know that's what it looks like.
I've seen this at WalMart - thanks for keeping me from buying this! LOL I can our own sausage so I will keep with that!!
You're braver than I would have been! Dog food material! 😂
That's what I thought.
I’m pretty sure our spoiled pooches would turn their noses us at this! Thank you for your courage!!❤🇺🇸
Even my dog wouldn’t eat it 🤮
Yeah I got a case... I didn't expect it... in a drastic situation it's a little better than starving if it came down to it... I actually added some into scrambled eggs. Acceptable...
I have a couple cans because my husband loves sausage gravy and biscuits. Just for emergency use, in case I can't get fresh sausage.
Thanks Jinne
I love it and I add a little flour to mine to make patties
Yuck! You are brave for trying it for us to get an idea. Thanks for the heads up.
Jinne, thanks for trying it for us. Not my favorite but the hubs tried it with gravy over biscuits and said it was okay. Take care.
I think he's right with the ok, definitely not a delicious favorite. 😉
Add egg and bread crumb it will fry up as a paddy then.😊
Appreciate you reviewing this....not sure I'd buy it. I had seen it on Amazon too...considered it...glad I didn't buy a case of it.
Mom would fry it up and make it into a gravy like regular sausage.
I found a sm can of chuk chicken that was expired, so it was 5 years old. I opened it & wanted to see how it tasted. It tasted just fine. That was 2 yrs ago.
Jinne according to google AI lol It is ready to eat. Kind of like spam except it isn't a solid. I remember buying a can or two from Walmart thinking the same thing you were...great price for some canned meat! lol When I opened it I think I felt the same as you. I want to say after trying to make sausage patties out of it I decided to just add some eggs like I would with Chorizo.
The recipe google AI gave was Mix 1/4 cup of flour, 1 egg, and the sausage in a bowl until it forms a soft ball. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat, then drop spoonful's of the sausage into the skillet and flatten them with the back of a spoon to form patties. Which makes sense because it is so loose lol
Wow, Jinne! You were brave in doing that! It kinda ticks me off that there was a picture of perfectly browned sausage patties on the label when that is not at all what is on the inside! A couple of weeks ago, I canned up some pork sausage patties that I will take out and brown when I use them. I also canned some loose sausage that I can do the same with, or add to a casserole, scramble, or make gravy with. There would be absolutely NO WAY to fool my sausage-lovin' husband with potted meat!😂
Tried it once...never again. Looks funky and tastes even funkier. I found the texture and smell horrible.
We bought a can of this about a year ago and was very surprised when we opened the can. Definitely thought it was going to be patties. That picture on the can is a little misleading. Nope, it's not for my pantry either.
Thanks for making the sacrifice 😂 I think I will stick to canning my own. Which reminds me ... I have 2 pounds of Jimmy Dean sausage that I got for $2.99 each that I need to can this weekend.
Do you can the sausage the same way as hamburger?
@wendyrotchstein98 Yes. I can mine in half pints, though, since I use it mostly for Sausage Gravy.
@@danniemcdonald7675 thank you! I’m going to try that!
I tried it and thought it was awful! I donated it to food pantry!
Hello have a good evening.
I saw it at Walmart as well and bought one
I can see it in gravy... Agree with others - you are brave. Lol
I would make a gravy out of it and put it on biscuits
I can only get uncured meats, because my mom is allergic to preservatives. Hormel makes uncured meats, lunch meat, ham and sausage
Thanks for always being our Guinea pig. It definitely didn’t look like how the can portrayed it. I think it would be a NO for me.
Sutton Daze, if I remember correctly has a tutorial on pressure canning sausage patties. After Hurricane Ida, a guy that works with my husband gave us a #10 can of sausage gravy and I can tell you from experience that it tastes like crap
Thanks for the review. I also bought some to try out but haven't yet. Deceptive picture on can. Maybe in an shtf soup for some protein? Or add to rice?
The comment section did not fail, thanks for all the laughs 😂😊.
Maybe brown it and make sausage gravy
I like Hormel low salt corned beef hash
When you’re hungry, it will taste like steak and you will be thankful to have it. Thanks for trying this. I bought 6 cans and thought it would be Pattie’s too
I bought some and tried it but I liked it. I was also disappointed in the no patty business, but I liked cooked it as crumbles. I laid in a number, but it has disappeared from my Walmart two years ago. I expect it will be good with mashed potatoes and/or eggs.
You are one brave woman lol!
Maybe mixed in eggs with chopped onion, I have a can of this at home, so I think thats the route I'll go.
That sound good
I like potted meat but im the only one. So wont be biying any of that. You are a brave brave woman!
I appreciate you doing this review !!
I don’t know why they put so much salt in canned items. It is not necessary. On another note, I’ve noticed my Walmart has been carrying more and more canned meat items but I really have not been looking, but I will the next time I go see if this is in there.
Never tried it and appreciate the review! We have a few cans in the pantry stock, but in a worse case scenario, I'd eat it.
I just saw this at Walmart here in FL. I am glad I didn't buy it. Your video is informative. 😊
Sold on Amazon and made my Armour which seems to sell only pork products. This was rated 3 stars.
Thank you for testing this , we'll pass ... i'll keep buying unjabbed sides of beef and home can , cheers from the outback !
Maybe your dogs will like it
I will pass, canned some Jimmy Dean when it was on sale!
Think I will pass...lol
Sausage gravy❤
I canned my own sausage patties and link, and loose too. The loose sausage is for making sausage gravy for over biscuits. I think that I'll skip that product myself. I do like corned beef hash though.
I stocked up on this just before I learned to pressure cane, which I did to have meat.I have canned a lot of different sausages. This disappeared from our Walmart two years ago.
@@tonette6592 I'm so glad that you have learned how to can ! It's so wonderful to be able to learn more life skills. You'll never regret it.
@@suegeorge998 I learned 2 12 years ago when I was 67! I only learned to waterbath can nearly 20 years ago, but never really got into it.I have pressure-canned my little heart out. I dehydrate vegetables left and right, and I have dehydrated a lot of cheese.
@@tonette6592 hi Tonette, I am 66 years old and I've been canning most of my life, having learned from my mother. My father always had a big garden and he'd bring mom in everything to can. He taught me how to grow nearly everything, so I feel I was blessed to have them as parents. They grew up during the depression and did everything they could to ensure that us kids had plenty to eat, without breaking the bank.
brown it and it to gravy
I like Banner, but even when i had a family i only used 1/2 small can with dozen eggs..SALTY...Never store but a few cans..Enough for me...Most people don't cook it fully, cause they softer scrambled eggs..i tell them cook banner 1st till it dries out some from the grease then add eggs..NO SALT.. Never patties, not meant be.❤❤
I wonder if you added diced potatoes if it would improve it any...idk. Not real appealing to me
I really expected patties
😮
Nope not trying it. Thank you for sharing.
Mmmmmm. Gonna be a nope for me. I can scramble sausage…. Then dehydrate it.
I used to like Potted Meat on toast with Mayonnaise.
Thanks so much for giving this a try... so I don't have too! 🤣🤣🤣 Hard pass for me!
Sausage gravy…
Stock That Pantry! lol
If it is that salty maybe some potatoes would help.
Oh my. No thank you lol
bought it once.... never again... smelled like dog food...
It looks like corned beef hash
Taste Nasty
Thanks for the tip. It’s a skip. 👋.
It’s ok we stock it depends on how you prepare it
I bought a case of this on Ebay and when I tried it oh man was I so disappointed ☹️ not at all like the sausage I know YUCK! 🤮
Putrid stuff. Reminded me of spoiled dog food just from the smell and consistency
